To this day, her performance sends chills throughout my body and puts a tear in my eye. Absolutely splendid!
I remember when she competed in North Carolina and sang this song. You could have stood in downtown Raleigh and heard her. It was truly spectacular. I know she won talent in her group at Miss America, but if any judge gave her less than a 10, he or she should never judge a pageant again. She had to have received 10's across the board!

OMG my absolute favorite performance of this aria! I remember watching it at the time and when she hit those high notes, I swear I couldn't breathe. I actually recorded it on vhs at the time and wore it out rewatching it so many times! So glad it's posted here!

ABSOLUTELY MIND-BLOWING PERFORMANCE! I will NEVER forget the first time I watched this on VHS tape as my boyfriend had been to Atlantic City and couldn't get over this performance either. He recorded the pageant in 96 and we met in 2000. I have watched the very best opera singers of our time sing this aria and Helen's performance is up there among the VERY BEST! This is to me and by far the BEST TALENT EVER on the Miss America stage!
