The Shia argument is a bit strange and self refuting. He said imamat are appointed by Allah and it was Ali who was first to succeed the prophet Muhammad. And lastly, that the imams are infallible. Now, why is it strange and self refuted. 1) according to Shia, Allah failed by making sure Ali succeeded as a imam/Khalifa after the prophet Muhammad. This did not happen in reality, hence inadvertently saying Allah is not the almighty and wise to ensure Ali did succeed as Allah decreed as the Shia declared. 2) if the imams are infallible, how did Ali fail to perform his duty rather then fail what Allah decreed. 3) the whole community that were there in mecca, didn't understand what would happen after the prophet Muhammad past away, the way Shia believe today. Otherwise they would have abided by that command of Allah if it was the case. The reason why Shia today say all the companions, apart from 3, turned away from Islam, is to fit this failure, of the infallible, in to this story of the Shia. Please reflect and think about these claims and when you reflect on it you will see it doesn't follow or make sense. They have to invent this betrayal and enmity that didn't exist the way the claim. And they don't even accept Allah's ayat in the Qu'ran about the fact Allah is pleased with the companions and even categorised the early ones compared to the later ones and said Allah is pleased with them and accepted all there duas and promised them the best reward with Allah. Which is what? JANNAH.
