Class 313 Farewell Tour(Sussex Rambler) at Polegate 29/4/2023
The Sussex Rambler class 313 Farewell Tour is seen at Polegate with units 201/213 on 29/4/2023.
I expect this will be the last time a class 313 will be seen in the Eastbourne area as after the timetable change on 21/5/23 they will be withdrawn.
The last of the BR era rolling stock in daily use in the South will be gone.

    Thank you for uploading this. I was 5 years old when this was filmed, but I do remember many times being at that station, the old livery of the trains, that great big red clock, the slam door trains, the look out into Brassey Avenue and how different that looks. Needed to see something out of my childhood and this vid scratched the itch.

    Thank you for sharing, brought back lots of happy Memories, loved those old Units especially the 2BILS and 4LAVS. We lived in Lewes sometimes shopped in Seaford, (always pronounced Sea Ford with Stress on the final Syllable) and I used to go fishing at the Tide Mills.

    I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the mainline Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part, D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock and that includes class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them into an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per unit and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per unit A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 cars per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street and rescue even more disused underground trains stations only for most of the mainline trains that can only run on electric and even for those modern steam locomotives that I have suggested for most of us train lovers so that you and your colleague can reuse and rebuild those disused underground train stations which can be only be reused for the main line trains and you and your colleague can also, rebuild another one of those brand new underground extensions longer route for the Piccadilly line trains and for the DLR trains Pretty Please can they also make another brand new underground train stations in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? hi i have just found your video i have been to uckfield in the 90s what a shame what a shambles😠 a total look of it's formal self this should have never happened it's a disgrace the old station has been demolished because of flooding that wouldn't have happened if they kept it open there's talk of it being reopened hope it happens and rebuilt back to its former self 👍

    • @ryanodonovan9497
      @ryanodonovan9497 Před rokem

      There have been attempts to revive the old line south of Uckfield to Lewes since the 80s. The problem is - it's far too late for that now with how much you'd have to demolish and rebuild, all whilst shutting public routes down and causing more disruption. You'd have to start way up the line with the stations that were reduced to one platform and close them until you revive their other platforms and rails. Then when you get to Uckfield, you'd have to demolish both the current station and platform that's built on top of where the old down line was, rebuild the level crossing that was there before, build a new station building on the original site, rebuild the rails going through the town and out the other side, and then find a way through all the farmlands and other properties currently in the way as you go down to Lewes, where you'd also have to rebuild the old viaduct. I prefer trains to buses, and wish they went south of Uckfield as they used to, but there'd be too much wading through to bring that old line back. Also, I'm surprised it took flooding and vandalism to demolish that old building nine years after that site closed, since the whole site has just been left there to rot for no particular reason.

    Oooops, me again. 5176 had been at Kineton. The preservationists successfully bought the unit from which date rent of £70.00 per week was payable and removal of their Treasure was required within 28 days. The trials & tribulations they faced were many and some people who could have helped were slow to react, but by mid-February the were rewarded with success!

      The 2-BIL was taken out of use very soon after this was shot, as it has wooden body framing which was banned from the main line for safety reasons. The 4-SUB last ran in 1994. Both units survive but can't operate on Network Rail infrastructure.

      @@4vepvik781 Take a look at how many people used to die in train crashes between the 1930s and 1970s, and how many people die in train crashes now. There was a period of 13 years from 2007 to 2020 when no-one died in a train crash at all. Think about that before making dumb comments.

    From a controlled crossing to an Obstacle detection system, how technology has moved on is utterly incredible, having said that it is extremely sad to know that this box along with most other boxes on the East Coastway have been demolished or decommissioned to allow Three Bridges signalling centre to take over.

    Kind of shows the uninitiated consequences of closing the route beyond Uckfield. The closure of the route beyond to Lewes left the station at Uckfield stranded helplessly on the wrong side of the level crossing, causing traffic chaos every time a train arrived or departed
