The old coolant was a dexcool clone. Gunked up easy
Glad to see GSF content in 2024 please keep them coming!!!
The only thing i will say is the valley pan leak is probably coming. I have an 16 gsf and mine hit around 72k miles. Change the coolant frequently maybe.
Yeah I have it in the back of my mind! I actually went over this in another video I have going over common F car problems
@@SEsGarage according to forums, its somewhat prevalent over all lexus v8s. Except maybe the lc500, but those are super rare. Is500, and several v8 suvs have had it. You can drive the car with it, i did without realizing for about 2500 miles. I was quoted 1650 for a local shop to do the repair so might be something you can do yourself. Just dont break the 4 knock sensors, they are 3-400 dollars each. Otherwise bulletproof. Everyone i give a ride to loves it.
So the prop just slides off the driveshaft and is not held on with a c clip or anything else?
Zoom out that camera a bit, Dude. Not so much in your face.
Have you considered adding a APEXi Throttle Controller? I’ve heard that it helps with the lag that’s suffered in these cars.
If I’m honest I’m not one for throttle controllers as I fell they do nothing but mask the problem by tricking the cars computer into thinking you’re hitting the pedal harder than you actually are. My plan is to get a tune once I do headers and that tune should help drastically
Nice car & I have a '23 IS500 that has the same V8. I have always wanted a GSF. My car is stock other than Borla Axleback, Michelin Pilot Sport 4s (Summer-Tires) & aFe dry flow air filter. I clocked 0-60 last night 4.5 seconds with Traction Control off.
I was so close to buying an IS500! With my family I needed something a bit bigger so I had to go with the GS
How much should a job like this cost ?
Roughly 3-500 at a shop depending on labor rate
What should be the coolant level in the overflow bottle when engine is cold?
Somewhere between the L and F mark
@@SEsGarage thank you!
This does sound good. But… I wish they’d come out with something more exciting for the Lexus brand. 3.5L V6 in the IS just feels so underwhelming for a premium car. It’s basically had the same engine and power output for 20 years. They need something other than the 3.5L N/A V6 or the 3.4TT V6. An all new inline-6 for their trucks and RWD-based luxury cars would be ideal. Think of a modern day 2JZ, or Japanese version of BMW’s excellent B58.
Check out some of my newer stuff! We have a Lexus GS-F with a 5.0 liter naturally aspirated high reving v8! Sounds glorious!!
Thank you! This gives me confidence to help a guy from Church do his 2016 CRV. Money is tight for them and it is something I can help with as I did my own until 20 years ago when I became disabled! Between you and me I can help teach him and save him $500!!!
Love your videos learn so much can you please do a video on the fuel pump how to check it and replace it
Did you have to get it tuned and did it change the mileage....or did check engine light come on?
No, no, and no!
no anti seize on the hub part which touches the new rotor?
You can if you’d like but it’s not necessary
I got a 08 STX15F that's hydro locking. Just replaced all the valves in it. The cam chain tensioner broke. So took it out to test drive and UT hydrolocked on me. Now turns out I had the wrong jetpump housing on it. I had a 2012 on it. Could that cause anythinh?
Great info! Thank you!
Ok, so what's the trick in UNPLUGGING that dang connector? thx
Great video! I know you've moved past the TRD Camry, but curious if you recall there being a "Power Window Up With Transmitter" option?
Unfortunately there is not
Can anyone please tell me which of the 4 sensors are heated? 07 JKUR. Please. 🙏
They all are
I don’t believe you ever lose money on flat rate. You lose on Flat rate until you learn and gain experience. It’s called the “School of hard knocks!” You should build a case with the manufacturers and tell them you won’t fix their garbage, and then have them explain to the customers why it won’t get fixed.
I have 405,580 miles currently on mine. I guess it is a bad engine lol
Thanks
I wouldn’t worry about “upgrading” the pulley’s to these lightweight versions. Most aren’t balanced and you really don’t gain that much.
To each their own. This is a great upgrade as it sheds nearly 6lbs in total of rotational mass and improves on the factory damper
@@SEsGarage it’s not balanced and really doesn’t provide much. I’d rather have piece of mind than 5 hp if that.
@@NonbinaryBrother it’s Fully harmonically dampened using an internal inertia ring and 8 vibration absorbing elastomers
Jus take the starter out and the bottom bracket from the bottom u can see the sensor from there easy peezy 🧰🛠️💪🏿
This is the exact same set up that im going for on my 2020 Prius! Glad I came across this video! Thanks 🤩
what if I need to keep the car running, because of my dogs, what do I do then? car can't be locked, manually or by remote, 2008 Highlander Limited, no worries about the SUV, but my dog Snoopy
Got to get them started young !!!😂😂😂
I have the hybrid would one out of a regular Camry work The part number is the same
Freeze the wear ring and bearings and get the whole housing up to about 200f. You'll gain a couple thou to help prevent damage. Especially to the bearings
I once crossed my battery cables and burned out 100 amp fuse, something like that anyway, it was a big one. So I could not charge the battery with boat motor alternator. The mercury dealer charge me $70 for that cable with the fuse in it. I want to auto parts store for something later and ran across the exact same thing at an auto parts got $10
instruction says "make sure that the brake pedal is not depressed when performing this procedure" but you pressed and successed!
I installed these same coils on my is350 …the advice on unloading the suspension is greatly taken …that’s the part I’m at in my build process rite now is just dialing them in exactly how I want them to sit …great set of coilovers though 10/10 …you made a great vid btw …only I found that actually had these coils and set them correctly
Cant see your work. Its above your video point
Are you saying for the second treatment, turn on the fan full blown without the AC on ?
For the spray yes
Its the torque that really gets our 2GR's moving!! I have embarrassed so many tuner Civics and Integra's its not funny. Mainly merging onto the freeway and taking off on them and listen to them trying to catch up 😆
I don't Trust you your master cylinder cap shows signs of brake fluid contamination!
The Jeep has 270k miles on it, so I can’t tell you what was used in it prior to me purchasing. I can tell you that dot 3 and dot 4 are backwards compatible. Cheers!
USE ONLY THE BRAKE FLUID MARKED ON THE MASTER CYLINDER CAP!!! WHICH SHOULD BE DOT 3 NOT DOT 4. DOT 4 WILL FUCK UP MOST JEEP BRAKE SYSTEMS!!!!!
DOT 3 and 4 are interchangeable and completely backwards compatible. Thanks!
Bleed through the bleeder screws only!!!
God that is not smart. NEVER RUN A MASTER CYLINDER DRY!!!If your going to flush the system don't do it if your only replacing a caliper.
The master was not ran dry. Not sure what you’re taking about. The reservoir was sucked down to the bottom and filled with fresh fluid, but that does not empty the master. I always recommend sucking the old fluid out of the reservoir and filling with fresh so once you start bleeding, you get fresh fluid into the lines. Thanks!
Hi captain, Do you have a video of cleaning your VST? Or have instructions how to clean it? Thanks
Awesome job. Thank you. A note to others that may experience the same thing I did: the piston did retract as far I needed for the new brakes. GENTLY with a pry bar push the piston back in.
Is that special oil filter tool necessary to remove the cap? I guess I'll find out on my own shortly anyways Lol
I did it on a 2010 4cyclinder Hyundai Santa Fe. Same stuff EXCEPT the bottom bolt of the altunator comes out ok but the top bolt is blocked by the frame. You need to take the plastic undertray off. Then take a jack and place it under the AC mounting(NOT the oil pan). Slowly raise the engine and it will clear the frame. Then the alt slides off. Slide it off top first.
Do you know if these will fit the 2024???
It will only for TRD models
Tried other videos and they didn't mention the release foot from brake pedal. Tried that most of the day until I found your video. Thanks
Glad it helped!
I find if you take thermostat off and then remove from hose, it’s much easier.
Probably not the greatest idea at 1:05 to leave a ten pound starter motor hanging by the wires, especially if they are corroded.
If they break that easily, they’re in need of replacement regardless.
@@SEsGarage Nope, you don't hang ten pounds off those cables
@@user-uj3zk2cx8t well I did, for the purpose of filming and had no issues. Appreciate the input!
@@user-uj3zk2cx8taaaaaand boom goes the dynamite
Really similar results. Cool results. The gsf is an ulev, so those cats are robbing it on the top end
Hi, this way you only replace 50% of the oil. the other 50% remains in the torque converter so this oil change is useless, it remains polluted.
In MOST cases a flush is unnecessary and can actually do more harm than good. If you’re worried about it, you can do a second or third drain and fill
Thank you so much to share your knowledge wih us & your valuble time . I was wonder if you can help me on 2006 scion Xa , the electeric diagram from AC compressor wire to outside fuse box & to inside fuse box toward off & on switch in the middle of the dash under the redio .
