Im rapping up a book on Sam Langford " Boxing's Greatest Uncrowned Champion'" i would have loved to have met Mr Langford. He was a decent man and boxer, that many a fighters were affaird of. I learned alot about the people of the time's from reading this. Sam you were the Champ !! 🥊

Foreman was in a little better shape and hit a bit harder in this fight. That'st he only thing that made a difference. I think this was his toughest fight for sure. Against Ali he was mainly outsmarted but didn't get hit this hard.

I saw this fight when I was about 15 years old on TV by myself, and was jumping up and down screaming knowing I was seeing something incredible just after that I was a Colorado golden gloves and everybody start looking around in here watching this guy with a full length white fur coat on and keep we’re going that’s Ron Lyle man check it out and then about 10 years after that, I was a Colorado golden gloves and saw him with a United airlines jacket on, and somebody told me that he ended up working as a bagge handlerfor United in Denver

I like Howard Cosell but I felt he was a little rude towards Ken Norton during this fight. And Lyle's body shots and counterpunching were outstanding. Foreman was in a daze after the right cross with 20 seconds left in the 1st round. You could see George was actively avoiding the body punches after being hit.

A fight between two inhuman hitters. At one point Lyle was damaging Foreman heavily and Foreman looked beaten to submission. But the way he bounced back showed that Lyle had woken up the beast in him. Lyle took a lot after that. Weaker boxers could have been killed.

What a slug fest! Not much defense, just two guys throwing bombs. Both fighters were studs! After watching this, I re-watched the Lyle/Ali fight. Lyle had Ali in big trouble, then Ali came on strong. I thought the referee stopped it too early.

Helluva fight. I remember watching it on ABC's Wide World of Sports. I was then a junior in high school and a boxing fan. Pretty sure, although not positive, that the broadcast was live.

We are not as good as Cousin Ron....but we are all good boxers!!!

The ufc doesn't even compare to these great heavyweights of the 70s , Ali, foreman, Frazer, lyle the list goes on 😅

Probably the best fight I ever saw in my life. To keep things in perspective, if Foreman reached back and punched you in the face just once, any of us would be in the hospital for a few months. So hats off to Lyle! What a warrior!

I watched this fight live on ABC in 1976. This was an era that featured perhaps the most devastating punchers in heavyweight boxing history. Ali, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes, Ron Lyle, and, of course, Earnie Shavers, a guy that Ali himself said threw the heaviest punch he ever took. Check out the highlights from Lyle/Shavers in 1975 sometime. Unbelievable brutality.
