Mastercam Part Machined Completely on Dual Spindle CNC Lathe With Y-Axis and Live Tooling
Interesting little flapper made completely in a dual spindle lathe. It is made from 17-4 900 condition Stainless steel and it is real tough to work with. This part was only a small batch of just 10 parts so I didn't run it real fast. The machine is a Samsung 2000BSY, Y-axis, dual spindle lathe with live tooling.
The part was programmed in Mastercam 24'

CNC MACHINING WITH MASTERCAM 2024 IN A DOOSAN DNM5700 VMC MILL USING OSG TOOLS

In this video I use a DOOSAN DNM5700 vertical mill to machine an aluminum block on 5 different sides in 1 program. The NC program uses 3 different (ZEROS) G54, G55, and G56 (the 4th axis) to machine the block. G54 is the first side of the block then it goes to the 2nd side (G55) and machines that side. The last part of the block is done on the 4th Axis (G56) with a special fixture to hold the b...

Spot drill in Aluminium? Why...whats that? You waste time non sense. Hmmm...overall end mill in 4 flutes rough and finish...mmmm
Dang it physical limitations of the universe. Why must you make sub spindles sound so?
How many milimeters/inches are left in to the core by grooving insert; If it is too little; Trying to avoid interruption on grooving insert will cause vibration on all other tools following, so that means bad tool life on these tools, If you have tried then decided to put grooving tool first, it is OK, no comment 🙂 Thanks for the video and S, F values 👏
This was incredible! Also, that is one expensive tractor flap. 😂
Peter at Edge Precision (on here) did a real neat gopro case for his machine. You don't _need_ one but if you want a hands-off way to keep coolant off your lens it's a solved problem.
Only thing I would of done different was to use the Sub to pull the stock before parting off. That way you don't have to manually pull it. Otherwise fantastic job.
He probably has a barfeed
Nice work, did you get the cycle time?
My first attempt at sub spindle machinig czcams.com/video/e7NWWKVTCzE/video.htmlsi=lYqrCzUj7qDRDgAF
Nice programming by the way
I used to love programming "progressive" jobs. 1st Op vise#1, 2nd Op vise #2, 3rd Op vise#3 etc , etc ,etc. Had a job that had 7 ops set up in 1 machine. Run time was 18 minutes. Every time the machine stopped an done part came off the end vise. Took a bit of time to set it up , but it was worth it. Customer ordered them 1000 at a time. Customer was notorious for calling up and saying "can you get us a few to hold us over until the balance was finished? We'd always say sure as long as you're willing to cover the expedite fee. They always did and we made total bank on the job every single time. The grunts could never figure out why we took the time to set up progressive long run jobs that way. That's why they stayed grunts. Load the machines and push the buttons! Remember ALL the internet machinists are experts. Run it faster , run it faster. When it's their shop or project , do it how ever you want. This is the way YOU did it. Machining is not WHAT you've done, it's what you've SEEN done. Take everything you have seen done and apply it to what you're currently doing and make it your own. Own the parts, own the job , start to finish. Take pride in what you are doing. Full gas , maximum spindle speed , maximum material removal , minimum cycle time are all great thing to shoot for. Rome wasn't built in a day. I can't tell you how many times I saw guys rip parts from fixtures and tooling trying to gain a few seconds here and there. Too funny really. The attitude was I can do it faster then you. Well maybe. 9 times out of 10 the time lost having to repair or replace the fixtures or tooling or replace broken tools ADDED to the overall time it took to run the job. So I still came out ahead in the long run , running slight less aggressive cycle times. I still miss the process of making parts and developing the process to do so. The bosses , don't miss them so much.
17-4! Yum Yum. I rather cut that all day then 304! Pretty darn nice programming.
Double your speed and feed on the insert drill and plunge straight in without pecking.
Nice but get some good toolholders for your roughing cutters then you can send it without worrying about pulling out the endmill. My 2 cents
Tragedy in programming, position sorting, pecking for indexable drill with through coolant etc. Easily this job could be done in 1/2 of the time.
Really slick programming and a very well shot video. Not enough good video out there showing off what a Y axis lathe can do, nice work
I hope this is for a rocket or missile....because it's a expensive-azzed way to make an exhaust flapper for your Farmall 🤣
It's a flapper for a safety valve, used downhole in an oil well. These valves are fail-safe to seal the well in the event of something going wrong, to prevent uncontrolled oil or gas escape. These became mandatory in all wells after Piper Alpha.
Nice work! Is your live tooling internally cooled? Mine has to have coolant going all the time………
No it is external coolant, I only have 1 each of the internal coolant live tools.
That is some very clean programming. Nicely done.
Thanks!
The nc code is good, now with all the people who know better out of the way. 400IPM you can do or choice to do 30% rough cutting. And get better Metal remove rate. Inserts drill you can push more but with feed and speed that are recommended by the manifactor. Peckdrillings looks good. If you find recept that works with Hss and cobalt you push push it more next time. Goodluck!
I like to use Weldon holders, For aluminium with coolant holes that are at a 60degrees angle so it will hit the flutes.
why did you choose such slow Feeds and Speeds in Aluminium?? you could go waaaaaay faster...
I only slowed it down to try to get better video.
You’re an old time manual machinist. I mean to no disrespect. I was once a manual machinist. 4 years. I can close my eyes n hear ur RPM is not at its max. Use a solid holders for any milling u do. only use in a collet n run true when u want to hold something tight. Use 1/16 ball em to engrave n feed it at least F50. With a look ahead
Your right I slowed it down to make the video without coolant, I had to use a sharp engraving tool for the engraving per the customer or I would have used a 1/16 ball mill.
I’m afraid that’s all rather slow. With respect you need to get better tooling and get the machine to do some work. It’s aluminium not stainless. I run a manufacturing facility, 45 years as an engineer and worked in many sub contract machine shops as well as OEM’s. Thats really slow even if it’s a small batch part. That swarf should be coming off as a stream of chips hitting the machine guards. Cut it, don’t tickle it….
No your right I slowed it down to make the video I did get a better .625 mill and ran it at 8,000 RPM and 400 IPM!
Jesus. I could knock off at least 50% off that cycle. You're cutting aluminum! In a Doosan! Run that damn thing! It'll do it.
He might be limited by rpm
@@alexbike01He’s running at 7500 revs. It’s technique that matters, even at slow revs you can get better than that.
@@montyzumazoom1337 i know that, i was just being positive here lol
I slowed it down to make the video without coolant, some of the tools weren’t made for aluminum, I ended up changing the .625 mill out for a proper one and ran it at 8,000 rpm and 400 IPM
What flight app are you using?
Pocket Mill 40 with alu inserts . 500 m/min 6 deep and 5 millimeter cuts fz 0.5
Those feeds and speed are really low and if your not using kor5 on aluminum you dont know what you are doing. google these : ACDD2000E5CCE , spyrotec 6992 10
What pil did You use on the engraving
Bed duvet or thick blanket works well in this situation, has saved my car a few times with hail that big.
I would rather donate a testicle than fly in that It would appear to have the glide characteristics of a house brick should the engine fail.
Just moved into town huh
I hate these "WAIT FOR THE END" and the end never comes.
Can we get some after footage?
That's what i like to see. Milling with confidence. I my self mill with confidence. Confidence that when i press cycle start i am quick to get my thum hovering over the feed hold button 😏👍.
Feed hold? Brother I’m on that reset
dang loctite retaining compound the secret for crispy burr free engraving! noted 😂😂 joking aside, nice process! enjoyed watching.
Shouldn't need to peck with that insert drill, you have TSC.
look closer he does, drilling past the flutes.
Yes exactly I added the peck so I could make the video and I did drill past the flutes so I still kept the peck at the bottom of the hole.
😢😢😢😢😢😢😮😮. Grossi
As scary as it is here it's less than half of the size it was at the peak. It became rain wrapped and it only took like 5 minutes to pull all of that water into it and ejected it into the atmosphere. But once it became visible again it was clearly smaller. Moving all that water might have taken some energy out of it.
Super cool. Not sure what that part is for, but I'm sure I can find a place to mount it on my Quad! lol
fantastic video!
Не кажется что фреза устала
Other than the incident, how’d you like the Renegade?
You not racing the bike anymore?
Yeah, that sucks. As you may know, last year they had different arrow colors for the SC and LC. Let’s hope they get this fixed so it’s not an issues for anyone else this season.
Thanks for posting the video and joining us on the utility line, always good to see new faces. Also, very nice of you to stop and help so many other riders, I’m sure they appreciated it as well. Hope to see you out there again next race.
Great job out there helping people! That's a bummer on the short course sign missing. Wished it had yellow cation tape across that section so there would be no confusion on the track direction. Thanks for sharing the video. Hope to see ya back out there next race. Brent456x
I am definitely coming to the next race but I picked up a new Can-Am Renegade just so I can compete with you guys!!
No kidding, that's awesome! Can't wait to see it. @@Blown350

Wonderful. Not many things i’m excited about anymore. This is definitely one of them. Love how you turned her over after one of the kids started making a ruckus 🤙 Safe travels

Im sure your neighbors love you! No wonder there are so many Karens reporting ppg pilots.
Hate to agree, but some tool does this near some homes in our area. I assume he will end up in power lines. Problem solved. I want to get into the sport. So be darn nice if peeps would have some freak n common sense, so it's still around before karen gets FAA to take away yet more freedoms!
Nice flight. What size wing did you get?
Nice gear. I'm currently adding a motor to my flying "portfolio". I've purchased a PPG (foot launch) and with my spine problems I think it will end on a trike soon ;]. Unfortunately there's no X-Alps paramotors yet ;).
