I first heard this precious Negro spiritual as a child, watching a Warner Brothers cartoon so many years ago. I never forgot it...and now for the first time in about 55 years I am hearing it again...and just found online that same cartoon from 1932. Even though the cartoon was distinctly and sadly racist, it cannot detract from the wonderful song.
