I'm genuinely shocked they cut this scene. It packs *so much* in while remaining really tight. I feel especially bad for the actor playing Adam/Michael because he's really, really good here. There's a lot that made it into the actual episode that could easily have been shaved to retain this. It's baffling.
One of my biggest issues with the final episodes was they didn't let their characters mourn for Cas. And to know a scene like this existed, that Jack was heartbroken about his father being gone, and they just decided to cut it and make it seem like he didn't care: a crime.

I dont understand why fans of Destiel are so dissapointed. It was THE GREAT FINAL. When Cas says "I love you" it means "thank you for teaching me to love the world, for making me a man, for teaching me to live with my heart". Castiel was a soldier and he died as a soldier, but it was a great difference - he was under a pressure at the beggining and with love in his heart by the end. Why would Dean didnt say someghing in back? Cause it's clear without words. And on the other hand, it is clear that Dean could not speak, because it would mean "goodbye." I dont understand why fandom was so dissapointed. It is sad that people couldnt think that not kind of love should be only romantic. There are more clear deep loyal kind of love than only in sexual context.
Because they want validation. This shows their lives, to validate what wasn't canon validates them. Oh well, it never became canon
