As i live in a building and this is exaclty what needs to be done for all walls ... what else you would do so water doesn't get inside the cracks as you have 3 floors and each floor has the same patio door to balconys outside.... now could water leak and crawl from this tracks down the basement? i have an issue with that and try to get to the bottom of this issue.

    I was following this video to the TEE and after spraying the cabinet paint, it’s leaving a subtle orange peel like finish as opposed to a glass like factory finish. (wish there was a way to send photos of it in YT comments) I thought the top coat might reduce it but it looks around the same just shinier lol. I’m guessing that something was wrong with the air pressure or paint viscosity. I tried upping the pressure and thinning the paint a bit but the spray pattern stayed around the same. Do you have any recommendations on what might be going wrong? Lastly I wanna know what recommendations you have for starting over? Should I strip and sand? If so should I apply the sanding sealer again? Thank you so much in advance, I’ve already learned a lot from the video you made and hope to hear from you

    • @TrueGritDevelopment
      @TrueGritDevelopment Před dnem

      Oh no, sorry to hear. My first thought is your sprayer is putting out a lot of paint or spitting. Have you used this sprayer before and have you tested the sprayer on a scrap piece before starting your project?

    • @gioweo
      @gioweo Před dnem

      @@TrueGritDevelopment First time with the critter and I had tested with scrap wood but it was rougher than the cabinet doors so couldn't see the orange peel. I know you can reduce the paint by lifting the nozzle but do you have any other recommendations for fixing the spray pattern (given its that same velspar paint)? Also I'd like to start again with the panel I painted, do you have a recommended process for doing that? (stripping? sanding? re-applying sanding sealer?) I really appreciate your help

    • @TrueGritDevelopment
      @TrueGritDevelopment Před dnem

      Got it. If it’s the same paint, you shouldn’t have the orange peel finish. Make sure you use a waving motion when spraying and maintain a good distance from the object you’re painting. As for the panel you want to redo I would sand it down to a smoother finish. This does not necessarily mean all the way to “unfinished” wood, it’s just enough so when you run your hand on it it feels smooth, so no sanding sealer needed, but maybe a primer for a base coat. If you decide to sand it all the way to bare wood, then apply the sanding sealer. Hope this helps.

    Nice looking doors but if you have high quality painting equipment like Kremlin air mix paint guns and pumps, you’ll only need to sand the wood with with a final sanding with 220 sand paper and one coat of oil based paint if paying a color. If finishing with clear lacquer, you’ll need 220 sanding, one coat of sealer, 220 sanding then one coat of clear lacquer.

      It’s not too bad. The boards make a big difference. Good luck 👍🏼

    Any suggestions since I’ve seemed to have already started off wrong?

      You can always sand them down and apply a grain filler to get a smoother look.

      Thank you! After the grain filler do I paint again then apply the poly?

    • @TrueGritDevelopment
      @TrueGritDevelopment Před měsícem

      Yes. Did you sand between paint applications? Liquid brings up the wood fibers. You may want to sand first (light sanding), apply filler and then paint/poly

    I just bought and painted unfinished cabinets and don’t like the way they look after 2 coats. They weren’t sanded or anything. What steps can I take to have a better look after already painting. I wish I would have saw this video beforehand.

      Are they too grainy? You can use grain filler (3 coats) and repaint. I have a video using grain filler.

      Yes, very grainy! Thank you

    I just bought unfinished cabinets from lowes and immediately painted them. Do you think I need to go back and put on the sanding sealer or I can just go ahead and seal them with the poly?

    • @TrueGritDevelopment
      @TrueGritDevelopment Před měsícem

      Too late for sanding sealer. If you’re happy with the results, go ahead and finish them with the poly.

    You can attach and tape the elbow to the exit duct, then put it in.

    • @TrueGritDevelopment
      @TrueGritDevelopment Před měsícem

      Sure you can, if you have space for it and don’t mind the look.

    Great. now I want to install a drawer inside the cabinet. but these inset hinges are making the door block the channels to come out. Any other type of hinge that is used for inset doot but also opens the door flush with carcus?

    • @TrueGritDevelopment
      @TrueGritDevelopment Před měsícem

      Yes, I would say they’re the ones you use for a lazy Susan cabinet. I haven’t installed these. Is this what you’re looking for: a.co/d/b1rmFrc

      @@TrueGritDevelopment Thanks for the Reply. I found it when I searched. But the hinge I'm looking for is for Inset type door and this one says overlay type. I don't think they make such concealed hinges.

      @developpa1519 Před měsícem

      @@TrueGritDevelopment this does say inset on the product title but reviewers say it's for half overlay and not for inset door. So once installed using a spacer to act as inset, it does not clear the space for the drawer movement. I think I'll have to give up on it.

      That sucks. Maybe go into a furniture store and inspect or look online for furniture and find out what they used. Good luck

    Is the S trap still legal? And what about a vent pipe???

    • @TrueGritDevelopment
      @TrueGritDevelopment Před měsícem

      You are correct about the S strap. This was a replacement, no new plumbing was installed. In this case there was a vent pipe stack connected to the drain that went to roof.

    Is there any issue leaving the wires with non protection?

    • @TrueGritDevelopment

      No, because these are low voltage; however, it’s recommended you burry them.
