How to Reupholster Vehicle Sun Visors [1999 Ford Ranger]
This video walks through the process of reupholstering sun visors (for a 1999 Ford Ranger).
This video highlights all the steps involved to reupholster sun visors: disassembly of the old sun visor, patterning and cutting new material, applying new material, and sewing the perimeter stitch using an industrial walking foot sewing machine (Juki 1541S).
- The materials were purchased from Your Auto Trim Store
- The Juki 1541S was purchased from Cutting Sewing Room Equipment (Cutsew) in Atlanta. (I highly recommend them if you're in the market for an industrial sewing machine -- give them a call and they can help you find what you need)

From someone who builds wiring harnesses for a living, you shouldve cleaned the end of those cables with a wire brush. Also, dont heatshrink so far up on the ring terminal, it gets in the way of the mounting nut/screw. That can cause it to make a poor connection.
So I am planning to get a seat and the steering wheel to play a game and learn how to drive like better but like if you go to the junkyard do you pay to get the seat or like can you just take it?
Ridiculously low mileage, I have a 1999 Ranger too. But this truck definitely has lots of potential. Really like the wheels on it.
Looking fresh!
Thanks!
Any more details?? It's later now
And how to close the gap??
Tappy tap tap....
Or the windshield was replaced and the frame got scrached up and now its rused away and water will keep coming in
Ill keep this little shit in mind when i get to hunting leaks on my project car. Thanks lol. 89 mk3 supra
And if you look closely theirs a spot weld that they tacked on a relay or something either way it will fail eventually my 1992 NA Miata has the same issue
You let your Miata get wet that’s crazy lol
I try not to! Unfortunately it was pouring rain when I bought it. It's definitely happy and dry in a garage now!
U in North Carolina... I am right across Jonas ridge. . Little north of e town
I'm in GA these days, but I did go to college at NC State back in the day!
Nice classic
Why did you not guide to remove that green color on the wires so that the copper wire is clean.
How long each side roughly?
I usually set the grill up for indirect heat. I'll do 6-8 min per side on the side of the grill without coals, and then I'll do a minute or two per side directly over the coals to kinda sear them.
Now put the center console
I just stumbled upon your channel and am looking forward to binging your videos on the Ranger. Glad it stayed in the family.
Thanks! It has been a great truck, and as of this month, it has been a daily driver for a year now!
They also bolt rite in a 01 crown vic
И что мы шьем так сосредоточенно?
Steel or aluminum?
These were aluminum
Just bought a Ranger, if you know somewhere I could get some seats like this please let me know
Congrats on getting a Ranger -- I'm sure you'll love it! For the seats, if you're simply looking for this style of seat (the 60/40 bucket-like bench), you can try to find a set in a local salvage yard or Craigslist or something. If you're wanting covers similar to this, you'll likely need to take them to a local upholstery shop and have them re-upholstered. Most shops should be able to handle a pattern/design like this, and they should also be able to refresh/repair any foam in the seats that needs updated. I hope this helps!
Fantastic. Thanks.
straight to the point, thank you!
Awesome! I love the look!
I want to update the mirrors on my Ford Ranger What mirrors could I use on a 1992 Ford Ranger?
I used that pad too using Griot's Fine Glass Polish after Claying the windshield & experienced some hopping. Did you? i had to use a Foam Pad because that Rayon Pad wasn't easy to use. maybe my technique was wrong.
It's been a bit since I did this, but I don't directly recall experiencing hopping with the pad/polisher. I do seem to recall having to keep a bit of downward pressure when polishing however.
@@grevesgarageI just found it very difficult to move the pad in an up and down motion. I'll try it again.
I am interested in that stereo u have installed, where can I find it?
The stereo headunit is a JVC KW-M560BT that I picked up on Amazon. Overall, it's pretty solid -- I like the features it includes, and the audio quality is pretty good. That being said, the buttons for controlling the volume are not very good -- I wish I had gotten something that had a knob for controlling volume. Hope this helps!
Looks real solid. Does it jus fit in perfectly or did u get trim to fit?
I am gonna try this too on my car’s windshield. Good job on the video.
*promo sm* 😔
Been wanting to go to my local pull apart, just wondering what’s the prices like there I’ve heard they can be expensive, right now I need the mid pipe for my Toyota exhaust, you think they would sell it for around 50 bucks?
I've gotten some things there that ended up being more expensive than I thought they would, but other things have been way cheaper than expected too. Pull-A-Part's website does have a list of prices for different parts, so you can get an estimate before you go. If you do find what you're looking for, when they check you out, just make sure they ring the part up as the correct thing so you're paying for the right type of part.
@@grevesgarage ok good to know I’ll check that out
How’d you prepare it? N how much did this cost?
I removed all the old bed liner with a surface prep pad on an angle grinder (was a major pain!) and scuffed the remaining paint with 80 grit sand paper. The herculiner kit was about $115 on Amazon.
@@grevesgarage looks good brother. Thanks for the tip
was this with power or manual mirrors
what kind of force do they have? I need struts like those.
Me too
Did you ever figure it out?
Is there a reason you didn't simply drain the fluid via the drain hole rather than have to deal with the whole cover, new gasket, et al?
Hey! Great question! For this specific axle, there is only a fill hole, and draining the fluid requires removing the cover. There are some aftermarket covers available that do include drain plugs for faster changes in the future. As an added benefit, having the cover off also allows for a quick visual inspection of the gears for problems such as chipped gear teeth (which is typically more of a concern when you're doing activities such as off-roading).
Great response. Thanks for helping me see the light! 😁
Thanks you proved that the new ranger works on the old one
Shit ain’t workin
