I am always trying to cut them as low as possible. The spruce trees have a big swelled but - This area was originally logged 55 years ago. The stumps left from the last loggers clearcut are over 6’ height! - up above my head. Springboard notches in the stumps. The stumps are still here - not totally rotten away after 55 years. I’ll keep cutting them lower! You will see us logging yellow cedar soon, and we cut them right flat almost to the ground.

@secondgrowthhomes I look forward to that but we cut the root flares off first then fell them exactly the same as hardwoods and there's zero waste and branches are used to carpet under tracks easy peasy and save harshness on the machine and the operators.

I know. 20-30 minutes to back in business. First time in 10 years I have lost a track out there.

Hi Bud With this boat - and 9.9 hp We can just get up on plane - with 2 adults - 2 kids - 1 golden retriever dog. It takes a bit to get up on plane - but once it is on plane I generally need to slow down. I would say 9.9 is about perfect to plan with 2 people in this boat. It struggles a bit to get up on step - but then really travels along. I am hoping for my growing family to go 1 size bigger - maybe 13-14’ - with a 15hp.

She really is. I brought a truck load down yesterday - and yarded another truck load of logs out to the road from the forest today. We are looking good here.

Yes. I actually struggled to move these logs full length, and I need to buck them at 50' to move them with this machine. The logs are 95' - 100'. Moving them and turning them through the dense forest is to much for this machine. I pulled the first 2-3 out full length, then I needed to switch to moving bucked logs. I had been meaning to you write you something, as i was wondering how it would come across, lol. My Mom is a recently retired teacher, and is mainly coming out to be with us, spend time with us, work with us. They are both out there simply because they want to be there. It is pretty funny actually, My Dad was mainly a builder, then after he retired he picked up bandsawing milling. And he has just sawn hard as his retirement career for a number of years now. So, Apparently my Mom Retired, and Also decided to take up the retirement milling and logging career. Which I find hillarious, and lovely at the same time. Right now I am just very happy to have them both out in the woods with me - super special week for us out there.

Thank you for Commenting George. I am used to logging old growth spruce, where I have to cut way up high over my head, 6-7' height, to get past the swelled root buttress. I am interested in your comment - I will work on keeping them lower. Thank You Sterling

In Scotland we cut the butt's to ground level or just above so we can run over the top with skidder forwarder or excavator and trim the butt's a lot easier for transport and working.

Hi Shawn I offer the A Cabin with Insulation Packages to meet any R Value. The Insulation is waterproof foam board. It is installed ontop of the TNG in Layers - to meet any desired Thickness/R Value. The Metal Roofing is then installed ontop of the Foam - with an Air Gap for Ventilation. This specific A Cabin is built remote, heated with a wood stove, and is left unheated for portions of the year "most of the winter months". The A Cabin is So Easy to Heat - that with a wood stove as the sole heat source - Anytime you light a fire, you will have windows open to spill heat, it really warms up fast in the A Cabin. If the A Cabin is kept heated all year, or cooled in the Summer, I recomend the insulation. We will choose the thickness of Insulation based on the R Value needed for your Area. Yes - That is exactly right. You add any thickness of foam in layers - ontop of the tng - Then ventilation, underneath the roof metal.
