If I had a dollar for every time you said UH, I wouldn’t need to buy a mini excavator at all.
And yet you still watched the video for his knowledge because you don't have it 😅😅😅
When you get a call from a potential customer, what all information do you gather? I believe I’ve seen you have a paper with boxes to check etc.
Good video. I’ve been contemplating this very thing for a while now. Renting really isn’t a good option for me, do to location. This is a new start up…so I’m a bit nervous about leasing or buying. Thanks for your breakdown!
Hi great video, am I assuming that I take to total amount of the coh, add them together and that amount is what is going into to savings account? Or how do I know how much to put into my other account, and am I doing this weekly/monthly/yearly ? Thanks
Excellent video my man!!✌🏽
Thank you so much for the advice
How come everyone has terrible math skills
Thanks man I appreciate the help!!!
There is no money in it for $85 h, that’s insane. $125 minimum, $$373 or three hour minimum on any job
Awesome video brother!
It takes a while to get a channel to take off, keep it up buddy you got this!
Hey Cameron, I like your break down.. It’s very well thought out! I run in your area.. Right now twin screw end dumps run for $130hr, when you made this video they were $115-$120ish How do you reconcile $20hr difference between a 5 yard and a 10 yard truck? I know there is some value in being able to squirrel in where my T800 can’t, but half the capacity is hard to ignore.. BTW, I was very tempted to buy that corn binder when you had it posted for sale a while back, just couldn’t bring myself to spend the money on another investment when Im already working 3 different jobs 🤪. Good video, see you around! B. Fischer
Great video. Inflation is hitting hard. But most commercial customers understand.
DIck Cheney, you couldn't take the dip out ya mouth lmao
What are the best methods you are using to get the jobs? Are you using google, social media, word of mouth, signs??
(IMO), The BEST information on the internet. Thank you!
Time is a fixed asset. Whether or not you sell your skid-steer depends on if "finding work for it" is the best use of your time, AND will generate the most per hour profit in total (finding the work, bidding the work, doing the work, and collecting for the work - VS - down-time for the machine - which you are still paying for - while you are finding, bidding, and collecting for the work). You MUST find a niche that you can dominate and focus all of your time exploiting that niche.
Excellent. Thank you.
Excellent. Thank you.
Well done video. Appreciate the insight. All the best to you.
I'm a company flatbed tractor trailer driver stuff is always braking as much as i want to go work for myself but having insured registered fueled truck they just not paying enough for all that responsibility
Work for them and yourself. Then your truck breaks less, and you always have other income with the option to expand on the side if it becomes valuable
Tips for future videos -- 1. Take the dip k out of your mouth. You sound like have a mouth full of marbles. Think Nancy Pelosi. 2. Write larger on the white board.. 3. Try to do better than 1st grade writing. 4. Dont write something, then immediatly erase it.. Cardio and cut the carbs.. >; ) Thanks for the info tho, it helps..
Very helpful. Thank you
two thumbs down
Thanks Gravel Boss for the video gonna figure this out eventually

Thank you so much for this video! Just starting out this year getting into the plowing business. This has helped tremendously!
I love to hear that! Happy to help in any way I can :)
This guy's good
Thank you sir!
Hi I'm very new to this industry and I want to thank you for doing the video but I have to ask, as a solo operator I'm not getting anywhere near the numbers per year as you did if I only sign on say 20 accounts. I'm not understanding how you went from 50 per push to 750 for the entire season. Per push equals 1 pass correct? It seems you went from per push to per visit which is confusing. So if I do 3 passes per drive that comes to 150 per visit, right? Or am I not understanding correctly cause I'm only getting around $15000 total from 20 accounts for 15 visits at 50 per visit. Please help me understand how you got $33,365 from 750 a season. That's 47 accounts per season. How would 1 operator keep up with 47 accounts. That's 12ish hrs for just one visit per location per event.
“Per push” is the term for “each visit” The $750 a season came from $50 per push, times our annual average snow falls of 15 per year. For the number of accounts: we manage 30-60 accounts per truck (obviously depending on size) That takes us about 14 hours of plowing per snow fall.
So how do you come up with cost to deliver say a load of gravel or other materials? Cost per ton material and what’s added to that? Thanks
That’s what I wanna know I estimate if a 7-8yd truck is making 2500-3000 a week is a good week avg 120-150x 5 working days to the truck is good plus whatever the material cost added on top of your fee
Should be $80÷.8 to get a 20% margin, $100
Skid 250hr. Truck 188 labor 100 a Hrs pay your guys well ull do better
Well said Dave! Are you increasing your rates for the 22-23 season?
300$ perhour
Great information however you didn’t calculate rent, back office staff, taxes, etc …
Subscribed appreciate the knowledge!
Your content is super helpful and much appreciated. Your channel is gonna be huge soon. Thanks
Great video
If you was to need to rent equipment for a job how would you quote that? would you just add the cost of the rental onto the top of the quote or what would be the best way to go about that?
Add profit on every aspect of the job including the rental, don’t do what I did and call for a quote and them be like “oh that rents for $460/day” get them to give you a quote w tax and all then add 10-30% profit for you
dont
I haul and pour concrete for $26/hr for a company. In my city I know dump truck drivers are getting like $32/hr as a few of my coworkers have left to go do that. I don't think charging 35 an hour on top of your baseline costs is unreasonable.
I found a big con to renting, especially as a new business starting out and trying to decide whether to buy or rent, was that in my area the machine wasn't always readily available to rent which made it even harder to line up jobs, therefor I opted to just buy right away and would never look back however machine availability probably greatly differs from town to town.
That's a really good point that I had not considered. We have strong rental inventory here but it does make sense that if you live in an area that does't not have that, buying would be best!
Also you should consider doing these on a spreadsheet with screen capture. It's hard to see your writing.
What if you get fewer or no snow events?
Thats the game. You still bill the same amount. Which is the point of having some seasonal and some per-push.
I only use equipment for snow removal. Renting seems to make the most sense for now. Maybe it will change in the future.
I dont know what kind of snow removal you are doing, but something to look into that I did not cover in the video is a “snow lease”, specifically from Cat or Bobcat (im sure others have the option as well) Basically its a 5 month lease for the winter, at a deeply discounted rate (with a cap on hours) For example, maybe a regular rent on a loader for a month is $6k, and you have 200 hours, a snow lease might be $3k and you get 75 hours. Its a common thing to do up here.
@@gravelboss907 appreciate that! I will look into that for next year!
Thank you so much for your invaluable information, highly appreciate it, keep it up the outstanding job, have a great day.
Anytime my G 🤙🏽 thank you!
Good video man! I am just now getting started in the business and have been curious on good ways of bidding. Bought a brand new kubota skid paid for it up front. My truck is paid for. Trailer paid for, and I’ve got a mini x also. so I am hoping that I can make some good money off of it all. I’m thinking of trying to start a CZcams and just see if I can do anything with it. Thanks for the video man! Best of luck to you!
Hey man! Im super happy to hear that! If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out!
@@gravelboss907 HOw do we make sure that the rented equiment is returned without damage or parts theft. THats a big challenge in this business. PLease provide me your thoughts as I am starting my own and my another friend in youtube quit doing this business due to those challenges mentioned here.
Money content. Keep crushing this info!
You are kinda the lease pro around here. Do you have any input to what I said? I dont know too much about it 😬
Great content!
Thank you my G 🤟🏼
