the upper hand is coming way to far into the boat. It shouldn't come past the chin. he paddlers on the left (boat perspective should be drawing with the stroke, not just ruddering.

did dragon boating for the first time ever today I'm 13 and I'm really small for my age so it made me so tired but it was alright
These drummers that scream for "MORE" throughout the entire race drive me nuts. It does nothing to help you and for a longer piece it actually is harmful because you can't sustain 100% for any significant amount of time.Longer pieces such as 1000 and 5000 meters need a controlled expenditure of energy and someone screaming "MORE" all the time does not help that.

Congrats! Tips for oc1 trial w DB paddle? Looked like stroke rate was pretty steady at roughly 65, maybe just slightly faster for the first 10. Long stroke, lots of leg drive on the paddle side leg. Lots of rotation, moderate amount of forward lean at the catch.
Thanks for the feedback and I will pass it on to my son, I would like to do a split screen with James and Thor showing there different Technics over real time.

I am looking for tips for a time trial of my own, and was curious what he would identify as the things that helped him (or didn't, but from the result it appears mostly went the way he wanted). Thanks.
@@SettleNow I remember him saying he held back to much in the middle as he was not spent at the finish and would make other changes he would make to the stroke as the boat was bouncing to much, I will chat to him. he had done a l ot of O1 paddling but had been to university so very little for 3 years before this trial. check out my latest vid that my wife filmed as me and my son mainly race K1 now, he has a very relaxed stroke, its all about the catch.
@@drumaron i think the boat bouncing is because of the angle of the blade becoming negative too fast

Yes I'm at 04.04 in the last video I posted, my son filmed as he was in the first race, my race was a bit of a disaster as I fell in 5 mins before the start and on the home stretch :)

Hi Samuel, sorry but I only have one camera and I,m not a fast runner :) well I do also own a gopro. I chose getting in as I hoped for some big air jumps but that didnt happen.

Wow, that looks much different from here. I was stroking the Cyprus boat (6) bench 1 left. I had no idea where the GB boat came from. Our helm Srini was the hero of the week
Hi Garry how about boat 1,3 and 2 had right of way on 6 and your boat should of given water on the turn, instead he cut across and shut the door and touched boat 2, you can see the tail flick, this went wrong in so many ways, I wish I had the run up to the turn to see boat positions at the 50m marker. I think by the book everyone was in the wrong so its down to who was the most dangerous, This will be a great training video. If you PM me a email I will try to get round to sending you some other vids from the comp. It was a very big stage to perform on and you dont get a second take, I helmed at CCWC this year and really do understand the pressure on the helm . If you look back through my vids you will see a Cyprus boat rolling at Rome.
@@drumaron I was front left on the Rome boat too Ron
@@drumaron The umpires didn't seem to give any instruction until after boat 1 had already impeded boat 3. I was at the front so couldn't see what was happening behind but looking at the video here 1 and 3 were way left of 6 and behind so our path on the course was clear as far as I can see. Our helm was drafted in last minute due to injury and put on that big stage and performed well. My earlier comment was not meant to offend but under the circumstances our man performed well.

What's with the Right hand turn? R7.10 Turns. When a race is run on a course with Turning Points, the buoys shall be passed to port (left) in an anti-clockwise direction. When more than one crew is making a turn, at the same Turning Point, then a crew on the outside line must leave room for a crew on an inside line. That is, clear water between boats, as defined in Rule 7.1, must be seen by the Turning Point Umpire.
Hi Noel you have made a good point, in the UK we have been shaking up the formats at National League races to make the racing more interesting for people who just get bored with the "same old same old" and when not racing on a regatta course gets the most out of the available water. I feel the standard formats can produce very narrow minded paddlers and helms and putting people in variing situations creates "intelligent paddlers" the link shows a clip that I helmed and received a 10 second penalty, the video played a small part of the rules being changed to allow rules to be changed to suit local conditions and now it would be a legal manoeuvre, sadly the turn has now been moved further down by 200m and it has lost the excitement. czcams.com/video/fvvQY0oNdcM/video.html Have a look at other vids on my channel, I often hand may camera to anyone who will film as I am ether paddling or helming
