Difficulty is in the brain of the engineer. I am an Aerospace Engineer. The toughest course that I took was a first semester electrical basics course; EE for dummies. My brain is just not wired for it. Definitely major in what you think will be fun, not just based on $$$$.

I think electrical engineering goes beyond ODEs. We deal with the Laplace Transform, Fourier Series etc. In addition, complex numbers are primarily used in AC circuits. I'm not saying complex numbers are difficult to use. But compared to real numbers, it's a bit more difficult.

I was always a slow reader with poor comprehension. Then in about my second year of college one day I started speed reading. Self taught. Later I learned my IQ was 135 so I think I was sort of stuck in slow mode. Turns out I also had a fast forward. I found sitting though classes to be boring and unproductive. So started studying more and going about half my classes. People with high IQs actually have a overactive brain than presents it's own challenges. I've often thought my life may have been better if I was 120 or so.

some countries separated electrical engineering to electronic and communications engineering. where electrical engineering focuses more on cable and breaker sizing of houses industrial machines and power systems such as distribution utilities, high voltage transmission systems and generating systems where you work with mech engineers. and electrronics and communication focuses on analog and digital electronics they also understand industrial machines ladder diagram circuits same as an electrical and ofcourse communication towers and pabx cabling

This video is really cool. I am an engineer with dual masters. The funny part of it is that I probably wasn't meant to be an engineer. My aptitude tests always pointed to journalism or law. When I was a student, I often took a break at 0300 with the excuse to get some fuel and a chicken bowl and pondered; Why the hell didn't I go for a business degree??? To this date, I still have nightmares about my not being able to graduate. Relative to schedule. I only had university and full time work. Attending a non-degree-mill private university made it even more financially challenging. I generated the income, but it all went into a $66K/year in Today's money for just tuition with no resort to financial aid. It took restrain, discipline and focus.

There are several breakouts for EE. If you are into photonics you go heavy into EMField theory. Math requirements jump to Complex Calculus and Vector and Tensor analysis. Electronics is closer to the model presented.

I am very surprised! I think you have missed some very good schools, and rated some very differently than I would have thought. It seems to me that both Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State would be in an upper tier of the results. Where was RPI? Peking? Certainly would not be on my Engineering School list but as for an overall university, it is very good. I would have listed the Hong Kong Polytechnic University or Hong Kong University of Science and Technology . Also, I have doubts about the Hang Zhou school you listed. Only one if the Singapore schools would have made the list. You completely missed the University of Delhi and the IIT's. UCLA makes the list? Give me a break! Cal Tech probably should be rated higher. So I don't think there is much validity in your list having been an Engineer for 50+ years and a Professor for 20 of those years.

Good video, gave you a like. My experience as an Electrical Engineer (EE) focused in High Speed Digital is that were are the most versatile. We are called upon to design circuits, code programmable logic, write software from low level drivers up to abstract applications, computer engineering, networks, some mechical, some RF, IR, UV, X-ray, some analog, some systems, some manufacturing, some environmental, a little chemical, componets, materials, from deep sea to deep space, tech writing, purchasing/procurement, program management, task management, marketing, R&D, and a tiny bit of nuclear (I have touched all of these and more). We tend to lead the design that brings together all of these disciplines and can follow a design from concept to end of life. Electrical Engineers in Aerospace and Defense (like me) usually require Calculus 3, Thermodynamics, Chemistry, Physics, and more. Your should break down Electrical Engineering by disciplines: Hardware, software, firmware, digital, analog, RF, power supplies, systems, optics, acoustics, and more.

You must not be familiar with IQ, it is NOT changable, the research you quote is cherry picking data. Much of the surface level info spewed out about IQ - the most controversial fact about humans - social scienist have really tried to downplay, or dismiss it altogether. IQ is by far if not the most researched topic ever because of its implications, practicing makes you good at the test not increasing IQ. The tests are bullet proof and you cannot cheat them if they are real. The ones online are not real IQ tests. IQ matters, period, this is no longer a debate, it has been studied to adnosium. People get so anmoyed when talking about it as if changing your height genetics is any different.

Difficulty of coursework is inversely proportional to one's personal interest in the subject matter. When you have an internal motivation to learn you will pay more attention and not have to fight so hard to have it stay inside your head...but you will also likely be putting more effort to learning without noticing it.
