This channel will have mostly (hopefully) useful stuff about my Citroen C15 Romahome, camping in general and my late '90's Sunncamp Ranch frame tent. The plan is to slowly diversify the channel, but with the main focus staying on camping, as a very general term. I'm ably assisted by my long time travelling companion, Arnold, a diminuitive, foul mouthed and drunken stuffed panda who has become a bit starstruck with all this videoing.

Simple inverters for your camper van
It's easy enough to charge your phone and tablet through 12v auxiliary sockets and USB adapters. But what if you have a laptop or another device that needs a three pin plug socket? Well, that's easy, just buy a simple inverter. Me and Arnold show you how.

The C15 Romahome is made of fibreglass, so it can be difficult to attach sun canopies too. But there are ways..... Also I filmed this at the Canterbury club CAMPSITE, not website, as you may hear on the video. Doh! Anyway, enjoy!
Showering in a toilet tent

The C15 Romahome doesn't have a shower. No problem, you can shower in a toilet tent! Here's a little video on how I do it. You'll be pleased to know I keep my clothes on, but Arnold does appear naked. However, there is a little Easter Egg at the end, for the ladies......
C15 Romahome Hylo with a Harrison Style Awning

Romahome C15 and Waste Water

C15 Romahomes come with a perfectly useable external waste water drain. However, if you want to wild camp or stealth camp, it's a bit of a giveaway if you have a bucket or a waste water container visible outside. So I converted my C15 Hylo, Hettie, to an onboard waste water tank. This one was filmed on my little point and shoot Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ57 instead of my usual Panasonic video camera...
How to prime your Citroen C15 Romahome habitation water pump.

The Citroen C15 Romahome has a lovely trick of not supplying water to the tap, even if your water tank is full, especially if you've just filled it from empty. The pump will spin, but the tap is dry. Clothing Storage in a C15 Romahome.

The C15 Romahome has a purpose built wardrobe, but it is not ideal. However, if used with some other proprietary storage items, it can still provide great wardrobe space. This is how I do it, anyway. Although I don't think Mountain Warehouse any longer sell these mesh bags, I believe that other proprietors do sell similar items and call them packing cubes!
An ideal mobile phone holder for use in the cab and also the living quarters of your Romahome

This is a reasonably cheap and easily available mobile phone holder which can be operated with one hand. It can be used in the cab, but is also ideally suited to the flat units found in your Romahome. If you ever use your phone as a wi-fi hotspot when lounging in the back, then it is well worth investing in something similar.
Citroen C15 Romahome - A simple storage solution using Ikea containers.

A useful way to utilise the pelmets in your C15 Romahome - just clip Ikea Bygel pots on to them to store cables and all your small items. As many or as few as you like and they come in funky colours, too!

How does it do in the rain?
Hiya. Pretty good, seems completely waterproof. Flexes a bit in high winds as it it twangy poled, but awning straps strengthen it really well.

Many thanks! I'll get some. Just wondering if you have any tips/ideas how to solve a water ingress problem I have in the rear footwell of my C15 Romahome (Rosalie)? The water is very dark - looks like black coffee! So not coming in through back door. It's like it seeps through somewhere. Any advice gratefully received! xx
Hiya. Unfortunately this is a known problem on C15 Romahomes. It could be coming from around the rear lights or possibly where the rear bumper mounts are. Even sometimes Unser the door seal around the frame. I've done everything to stop it on mine but it still sometime appears from knowhere. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Panda

Hiya. I can stand up fully in the footwell at the back when the roof is raised. I'm just over 6ft tall. Panda.
Want ciggarette plug in
Unfortunately you can’t only get 180 watts maximum from a cigarette lighter socket and it would flatten the battery in an hour or so. Diesel or gas heating or electric hook up is the only answer. Sorry!

Hi there. It is completely up to you really. I would be led by the size of the leisure battery battery box to see what has been fitted before. Otherwise you can fit whatever size you want. Normally they are between 75ah and 110ah. Hope this helps. Panda

Another version of a shower which is a little more bulky to travel but doesn't require power is a hoselock camping shower. A bit like a garden sprayer, a lovely warm shower that you pump up by hand. Thanks Panda the seed tray idea is fantastic.
How do you remove fridge
Hi Graham. Unfortunately I've never had to remove the fridge, so I can't help with that one I'm afraid. However, I do know that they are a tight fit. Sorry I can't be of more assistance. Panda.

Another really interesting video, Panda. I will be looking at getting the little one, mainly to run my tablet. My only worry is how much they will drain the leisure battery? Also, Have you done a video on the heating system in the van? Gertie is a J reg Hylo, even older than Hettie. We only got her 18 months agi so I'm still a novice!
I have a Romahome hylo C15 same as yours. My water pump suddenly stopped working. I wondered if it could be the fuse but can't seem to find it. Any suggestions you could offer would be gratefully received.
Hi there. I you have a Zig unit, the fuse is below the the Pump switch on the panel. If you don't have a Zig unit, it's a case of tracing the wires back from the pump until you find the fuse. It could also be the switch inside the tap, they are known to give up. Taps are still available new. Hope this helps.
@@pandabloke many thanks! I have a Zig unit, yes, so will try the fuse and then the tap. I have the older version of tap where there is a fragile little lever which you have to flip over to switch tap on. Very grateful for your help and time x

My son has the same but his lights have gone off, is there a fuse of some kind that needs changing? Sorry new and green to the camper caravan screen! He runs a diesel heater and that works but the other electric s dont
H Victoria. I assume you mean the cabin lights? Make sure that the main switch on the panel is set to the caravan setting. Also there is a fuse for the lights on the panel under the switch that says 'Lights.' Hope this helps.

@@victoriaevans5233 Hiya. They should be below the switch on the panel and just unscrew the holder. Fuses should be available from any motor factor, like Halfords.
He has had a diesel pump put in and everything ok it runs off the leisure battery and is working but everything else has stopped . Do you think it's a fuse for the lights or a connection?
@@victoriaevans5233 Hiya. Sounds like the people who fitted the diesel heater have inadvertently disconnected everything else from the leisure battery. Have a look around the leisure battery for a wire that is hanging loose and disconnected. Hope this helps.
Great video - thank you. I've been searching for one of these since I first watched your vid - sadly no luck. I'm after the blue one. I've got a Romahome Hylo (1996) and find the Harrison awning too heavy and cumbersome. I'm tempted by a Trigano Sopporo tailgate awning too. It's instant - goes up like an umbrella. Would appreciate your views if you get chance to look at one online. Happy Romahoming!

Hi Panda, Having just purchased a C15 Nu Venture Motorhome, I have watched your videos avidly. I now have the shower tent all set up and tested on my maiden voyage. A brilliant set up and it feels like real camping. I have 7ltrs of cold water to 3.5ltrs of boiling - the contents of both my gas and electric kettles. Gives a lovely shower. I have also purchased the small van heater so I am ready for the cooler evenings. Many thanks also for the run through of the C15 heater controls which helped so much. Look forward to seeing any more videos you may wish to upload.

Thank you for a useful video Panda. My Transit has batteries under the front seats so they are very difficult to get at to fit a more powerful inverter to, so these small ones that plug into the 12v aux socket will do fine to run my MacBook from.

Hi Adrian. I ordered them from Amazon. I've just checked and there plenty of UK suppliers on there. I went for the one with the awning channel in the middle, some have the channel at the top or bottom of the rail. I believe they come in 1.2 metre lengths. Thanks for your interest.

Hi Gwilym. No, I slid it right forward on its runners then wound it as far forward as I could with the reclining mechanism. Then with a combination of leaning over the top from the back and working from both sides, I managed it. Mind you, the seats do come out pretty easy, so that would probably be the best way. 4 Allen key or Torx bolts, I think, from memory. 👍

Superb review, very interesting indeed. Cracking colour looks good. Best bit for me was at the end you did that toptip. I have been camping and caravanning regularly since I was 11, I am now 66 and I have never seen that tip before!! Perhaps it can be a new feature in future videos? 👍

Hi Mike. Thanks for subscribing and particularly for your interest. No, they are just cheap tarps from Amazon. I just checked and the orange one was £16.99 and the blue one was £12.99. It was hard finding one narrow enough to go across the back of a C15 Romahome. If you look closely in the video, you can see I've turned the corners of the blue one over nearest the van to decrease the width even more. Blue one was 1.5m x 2.2m and the orange one was 2.4m x 2.2m. Hope this helps. Panda

Hi there. This old Harrison style awning actually came with the van, so I was very lucky. They do turn up on eBay from about £150 upwards. You can get new modern drive away awnings that will fit, for a similar price upwards, such as the Outdoor Revolution Hand.

I've just seen an outdoor revolution outhouse Handi Low 180-21 £199 on e bay, hope this helps. We bought our van 3 weeks ago, 24,000 miles, full mot, and drove it 1st time yesterday and stayed overnight, it came with awning and toilet tent as well, will check tomorrow if it's like yours!@@pandabloke

Panda I am new to this I find your videos very helpful and funny and have left you comments....I discovered your channel early March 2022 after I bought 1989 c15d I don't know exact model it looks like a nu venture junior? I was told romahome, it looks like a caravan body with one skylight near back of van.....could you please advise me on model if possible.....camper is going for check and repairs on 28th of month ......all the best to you and Arnold xx😀
Hi Mermaid. If the body on the back is all made of 1 piece of fibreglass, like it was moulded, it will be a Romahome C15 Hitop. If has seams along the the sides, it will be a Nu Venture.
