I was a jingle dancer when I was really young and I stopped being one ever since i moved into the city. I started doing jingle dancing on my own. I got myself into jingle dancing and I practiced on my own without letting anyone teaching me. I had a bsf who was a jingle dancer and She got me into jingle dancing so my mom asked her mom to make me a customed jingle dress and my mom signed me up to do jingle dancing. I was at pow wows and I was in parades too. It was amazing but i stopped bcz I moved into the city. I was fluent in navajo language but that changed. Now, I wanna become one again and that'll be my career once i grow up. I am a highschool student btw. So I'm learning navajo and I am learning how to do the jingle dance.

I am chinook, most of my native family is on my fathers side but im not around them much sadly and the ones im around arent really native as in my mother she is white no native but ive always wanted to learn moreon my culture and things as that but i dont know how to do these things or find places that can help i wanna learn more on pow wow dancing and moreon my culture foes anyone kbow how i can start or find somewhere that will help teach me im in kansas as of now

Almost every student in my class is a pow wow dancer and I really love watching pow wow’s with my friends I really would like to be a powwow dancer this is why I go to powwows so I can learn how to dance fancy

is there a particular order or time for any of these, the way Hula in Hawai'i is all based around telling a story and the dances have to fit the lyrics/plot? or are powwow dancers just going to the beat using choreography/freestyle combinations? I've never been able to figure out one way or another how the full dances are performed but I'd love to learn them!!

Osda - lovely tutorial! I learned to sew work my mom Lois, and she helped me make or altar patterns. We're getting green shirts for drum circle events - now I want to make a ribbon skirt to wear with it!

OMG I didnt know that native dancing had so many different steps. Ive gone to pow wows and the dancers make it seem so easy. I am fascinated by Native American culture. I understand fully your, and your people's pain. And i admire and respect your brave and resilient spirit. Keep strong. Keep brave.

I have a question can i make a shawl when im not from the tribe that wears them im navajo.

I may make for my granddaughter. Can I add jingles with the ribbons?
