Horn Audition- Run Through
This is my run through of my solo and excerpts for the Orlando Philharmonic sub-list. Minus the bad audio quality and my exhaustion from practicing this is a decent representation of where I am a month before my audition. Positive Feedback Please!!

This video was created strictly for educational purposes to demonstrate the virtuosity/style of performer Hermann Baumann, as well as a rare opportunity to hear a piece by Weber to be played with the appropriate character. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED TO ITS ORIGINAL CREATOR/OWNERS Hermann Baumann plays the Weber Concertino: I. I.Adagio - Andante II. Andante con moto - Adagio III. Placca

You decide.Update: Looking back on this now in college studying music education, I can tell you that this is very sloppy and that you should take very little from this. The basic pattern is there, but seek further if you want to know how to make it cleaner.

These time signatures are used for conducting in the stands or maybe a few measures in a song.
How to Conduct 4/4, 3/4, 2/4 (Video 1)

The basic time signatures for Drum Majors. Update (4.19.11.): Looking back at this as a music education major in college, I see a lot of discrepancies. It's extremely sloppy and I don't advise you consider this the "pinnacle of drum major-dom." This is a very nice explanation in the basics though so at least take it as that.

This is just so you know what the meter is, I would never do this on a field. Just having fun. Sorry about the cut offs.

I'm currently DM of my HS uploading this video for the DM Candidates for this coming season. The lean is so they knew where the time change was, I would never do that while actually conducting. Comments are welcome.

minuto 04:33 ...resucité................en una teta de la Mona Lisa !??!?!?.
I got to hear him play the Weber live in recital back in the 1970s.
So schön und leicht klingt seine Art des Hornspielens!Bravo und Ruhe in Frieden!!
Rest in Peace dear professor. Thanks for your music
I enjoyed Baumann's performance; he had a remarkable influence on the orchestra and conducted it with a profound understanding.
Rest in peace. His horn playing was phenomenal and this is the best recording of the Weber Concertino!
Rest in peace maestro!

Geblasen auf H-Horn von Engelbert Schmid, also in Es-Griffweise. Intelligent!
Fantastic playing!!! Does anyone know if it is played on a 103 horn? When I was at the factory, the manager told me that Baumann used the 103 model horn for over 20 years.
For anyone interested in a more refined sound, Mr. Stainbrook has a wonderful version on the JHorn czcams.com/video/r5AQKgdzd3Q/video.html
Hello! I’m hoping to be a drum major for my junior year! But one problem I have is moving my hand up or down for a crescendo or a decrescendo while conducting with the other. Any ways to fix it
Set a metronome at 80. Conduct these three ways: 1) Conduct a normal 4/4 pattern with just your right hand. 2) With your left hand only, practice doing a crescendo/decrescendo for a full measure of 4/4. 3) Try doing a measure with both. Repeat each step as many times as needed to rinse/repeat. Do this everyday :)

Baumann is a master! I absolutely love this piece as well, and it's probably my fav horn piece of all time, but listening to it now, I totally forgot how stupid that high C sounds at 4:54. Baumann manages to make it sound more natural that most would be able to, but it's still such a ridiculous and out-of-place-sounding flourish in my ears. Last movement is still flawless in writing and execution, though.
Don’t forget the d sharp at the end he nails
Thanks you save me from getting scloded
Thank you, you saved my ass (Music Conducting Test)
Wunderschön!
My drum major audition is Tuesday and this helped me so much! Thank you!!
I'm auditioning for drum major Friday!!
oof, lifesaver
