Climbing Mont Ventoux (Clan McBédoin & Montpellier dancers)
zhlédnutí 131Před 5 měsíci
Christopher MacRae had a "daft idea" that Clan McBédoin teacher, Erika Ritzau, should devise a dance celebrating the climbing of Mont Ventoux by cyclists in the Tour de France… (and those who have summited on foot!). This medley is the result. Alex Ross composed special music for the dance.
Climbing Mont Ventoux (Lyon dancers)
zhlédnutí 885Před 5 měsíci
This dance by Erika Ritzau celebrates cyclists in the Tour de France who were tasked with a gruelling climb up Mont Ventoux (windy mountain). Lyon teacher, Raphaëlle Orgeret, and her dancers performed the dance. In attendance was the composer of the music, Alex Ross of Edinburgh, leader of Canongate Cadjers Ceilidh Band.

Murray River by Graham Townsend.
Kate Dalrymple. The signature tune for every aired Scottish Dance Programme in Scotland.
Great band.Is it Berkeleys??
Great playing by Don.He is said to be connected with Stan Hamilton (and The Clansmen) I ve got two LP's by Stan on the Oriole Label And yes,Stan is in turn part of Bobbie Brown's "Scottish Accent".(Ontario?) Which ist the only overseas way of contact,we have with Aberdeen BBC Radio Scotland. Must tell,I enjoy all these postings IMMENSELY!!! GREAT thanks!!!!!!!
Addition.....the only contact,...means....as far as I know.
Don is GREATTT!!!!!!!! What good bands and good authentic material up here.Things are hugely moving better than in Scotland.Probably due to the fact, that there is no pressure by BBC as was the case in Scotland..BBC tried to get rid of the accordion in SDB's and to promote their Celtic Connections.Fortunately they have given up the battle. Was a great shame!
Recognizing GOW's Reverrent!!!! Eight Men Of Moidart.Great tunes and superb playing by Don.
When we used to do that in Scotland it used to encourage the earth worms to come to the surface and you had to be careful not to squash them. Dan McLean in Port Glasgow.
Stan Hamilton is(was?) pianist in the Bobbie Brown Band often called "The Scottish Accent"..Just this branch had overseas connenctions with the Aberdeen based BBC Radio Scotland. Stan also produced records under his own name on the Oriola Label.Stan and the Clansmen, later Stan and the Flying Scotsmen. Greetings from Scotland.
Excellent 6piece line up Band and playing good material.❤❤❤
Don Bartlet??? Great choice of material and playing with good harmony. The ambition up here is clearly greater than in Scotland.Where BBC was interferring by commercial promoting of their Celtic Connections(Celtic Confecrtionaries, called by the initiated). As a result great reputed tunes were for times locked up.A downright shame! Heaven thanks they've lost the battle.
Paddy Whack!!!!!Great!!!!
Forget to ask you ...what's the name of the first Strathspey tune, the intro tune? One of the greatest I ever heard!!!!!
Superb playing and many tunes never heard anymore today!!!! GREAT!!!!
Addition..that was in Scotland, where BBC interferred. They wanted to get rid of accordions and lock up lots of good tunes in order to promote their Celtic Connections(or Celtic Confectionaries,as called by initiated)Heaven thanks they've lost the battle.
Beautiful dancing from the young people here. Really enjoyed this, so nice to see young people dancing at all!
Good dancing but really great music!!
The good old material returns in these broadcasts,at last!!!!!
Absolutely beautiful!!
My wife and I went to beginners class but then we were told it an advanced class no wonder we were getting so mixed up with the routine.

Learning this at school ❤
Bravo!
The little girl is cracking me up!
❤❤❤❤❤
Меняются века, страны, танцевальные направления, но неизменно одно - на балу не хватает кавалеров 👀
If I buy a kilt will my old knees get better ? They’re enjoying themselves to a great band and that’s what’s important.
Where is the little girl who danced so beautifully in so many of your previous videos, she was a joy to watch. Dan McLean in Scotland.
Beautiful and lovely. I love Scottish Dancing
me too!!!!
Neither do the dancers, but they’re having a grand time! Long may they continue to enjoy these outings.😊
Pity the musicians are not named, good playing and choice of tunes
Better than in Scotland , owing to....BBC pressure ; .BBC were against accordion in order to make way for the "Celtic Confectionaries"as called by the initiated.Fortunately they 've lost the battle,as a result, good old tunes, once locked up for several decades, will come back again.
It certainly is!
These tunes don't have the drive of a true strathspey
Right. They are in Scotland called "slow air strathspey's".
I enjoyed the music background for this video, as well as all the dancing. What a lovely event. I would like to know who was playing. Thank you.
Very nice, lovely video, the dance, the beautiful Ball gowns and full highland dress for the gentlemen, and excellent dancing and music, very nostalgic although only five years ago, takes me back. Also remembering meeting Jimmy Hill in Scotland and North Carolina. Enjoyed all the memories, thank you.for posting. 😊
What is the music Robert??
That wee girl obviously goes to ballet lessons! Very good footwork.
Hope that this ball is still taking place every year. Every one looks so happy to be dancing.
I wonder why the band didn't play the original tune written for this dance.
Hope that they’re still going strong. Scottish Country Dancing is a great way of exercising without realizing that you’re doing it.
Reminds me of dancing in the girls’ gym in high school.
Used to love doing this one in Innellan and Cranston!
Dancers of all ages having a real good time...
Perfection.....Super Band sound..Great dancers..Grand location......
And great tunes!
How are you.....Fine...Hope you are all fine too.
皆さんお上手ですね🎉
What a cool dance!
Alan Bayne speaks for me, and I suspect, for quite a few others. What a treat to simultaneously watch and listen to.
Frank, thanks for your comments on this and many other dances. 1st Man and 3rd Man are recentlydeceased. The wee fellow, 3rd man, was a composer and professor of music, awarded Order of Canada. He composed an opera, Taptoo, presenting the history of Upper Canada (i.e. Ontario) from founding of the colony to the War Of 1812. He included musical references to De'il Amang The Tailors.
Gorgeous
Super dance, well done ! I think I danced it years ago. Great to see the age range of dancers, especially the youngest ones.
Very nicely done, lots of dancing and the music was great. “Lassie Come and Dance With me” very good choice!
Apologies. I thought the first of my comments had gotost, hence the repeat.
