What if the junction box had a short?? 😢
Wow! Thanks for that info. I have the same problem
As someone who has done this multiple times its always awesome seeing someone figure it out on their own. Majority of the time its the cartridge. Props to dude for ripping the entire thing apart and figuring out whats wrong on his own... Personally i would have replaced the cartridges and called it a day. But theres something awesome about fixing something on your own and figuring out how it works. Takes me back to my days as a kid taking my bikes apart and puttig them back together, then my first car at age 14 was an 84 fiero. I sat in the garage all summer rebuilding the motor. Its fascinating to see how stuff ticks.
Your part right, You should always go to a rinse cycle after backwash and then go to filter.
gotta get some birthday baloons
I need to do this, but these shut-off valves stop the water flow from my pool... eg: when i remove them there is no stopping the water. Not sure how to handle that situation...
Stick a rag in the pipe. Just did my own and it works a charm
I usually dig some of the dirt away below so the pipe flexes some then I can get the 90 deg on by flexing the pipe back some. Have to dig down with a hand trowel sometimes I use a hose with a jet sprayer help loosen up the dirt some it gets kind of muddy but does quick work. I don't really like unions they are okay but can leak. Only PVC glue is 100% full proof leaking. I also don't use that white PVC thread sealer like everyone else does I use yellow PVC tape it is thick and seals up threaded pipe really good.
Hey thanks for video. I am gonna try this. Been have lower pressure for a few years but its getting way worse now over an hour to fill tub then its luke warm by that time. Pressure is great every where else. I could not figure out what that contraption was so i didnt think to take it apart. Wish you shown how to disassemble but i record my finding and share also. Thanks again great job.
I’m hoping your primed that pvc before gluing it. It’s not a solvent weld if it isn’t primed.
I don't use primer...Not a single leak in 25 years... On the other hand, I have seen a lot of leaks where the primer has been used.
Basically, having the same issue with the shower with low hot water pressure and its fine everywhere else in the house. I'll have to replace the shower backing panels anyway at some point and that is when I will fix it. I am betting with 90% it's the same issue with where it's splitting the water flow. Its old and probably full of deposits. I replaced the hot water valve about 3 times thinking that might be it, but it wasn't. This shower still has the old hot and cold water nobs gona updated it when I change it... Video helped pretty much confirmed what I suspected.
Are they backwards threads on the impeller end? Thanks
Think so
If you're leaking out the backwash line, you're probably leaking internally. Fix it, or cut it out and put in a push pull. Did one yesterday. Or, depending on brand, buy a whole multiport valve and swap out the internals. Changing spider gaskets is a gamble. I've done plenty and it worked, but I don't bother anymore. I swap internals or cut it out. My 2 cents
Very insightful
So ur water bill don't get expensive
That peice is for low flow
Replace the Spider Gasket. 20 dollar fix. Typically that's the problem.
SNAKES TRICKY. Just pet em. Maybe SCRATCH his HEAD or chin. Show love too the creature.
Heh. Not this snake bub. Heh. You try to pet him and he's gonna bite.. he... you city folk make me laugh..
Pipe extenders are another option when working close to the slab. They are glued to the pipe's interior.
It's always difficult to plumb the suction side with the pressure side intact. I cut out the pressure pipe first, that gives you a lot of wiggle room to get the suction side lined up just right. Also, I would not recommend cutting out the stops on the 3-way valve. Just remove the lid and re-orient it. Those red handled valves are a pain, the ones you showed are typical for how they look after a few years. Good move going to a Jandy.
Naa.
Brilliant!!! We have been delaying repairing a leaking valve. The only way to repair it meant cutting a pipe that was below the pool's water level line. We did a dry run/rehearsal getting all couplings, pipe and elbows threaded in proper order on our hose, then attatched the (in our case) "Cobra Rubber Bladder" (same as Drain King"), kinked the water hose in half and turned the water on. I hovered over my husband while he began cutting the pipe. While cutting the pool pipe it began leaking as expected. Once the cut pipe (still attached to the leaky valve and it's related fittings) was moved out of the way, I slipped the Cobra bladder down the pipe overflowing from the pool a good 8 inches and then unkinked the hose. The bladder filled and stopped the leak. We then cleaned up our workspace from the excess water with a shop vac. We were then able to glue our fittings lined up on the hose, one by one, until we were above the pool's water level. We let the new piping and fittings cure for an hour, then came back, turned off the hose, the bladder deflated and we removed the hose and bladder. Voila! We're now finishing up. Thank you so much for this fantastic tip!!!
childrenareourfuture So glad to hear it worked out for you! When I do these kinds of repairs I like to get a valve on first and then I can shut off the drain king pressure pull it out of the line and shut the valve that I just installed. Then I don’t have to have all of the fittings lined up on the hose.
@@MetroPoolService Oh! That is another great tip! Thank you so much for sharing it, too!
Nicely done
The temporary pvc you're using to align it needs to be short enough where you can actually remove it or you'll have to cut it off. Correct?
I have that identical problem. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
I heard they were something called flow water restrictors I had a brand new faucet cold water and shower head put in my bathroom I had perfect pressure in my bathroom and then when I added a new faucet cold and water and shower head my pressure is awful I have been looking at videos this is why I run across yours and I'm trying to find out where my water restrictor is so that I can pull it out but it's something to slow down the flow of water they should not have put them in there to begin with supposed to help save on water and the water's not constantly just running in the bathtub while you're taking a shower help save on water and it's actually causing people problems and money that's what I have gathered is called a water flow restrictor they have them I think and everything that is what I'm learning
Same. It takes 42 days just to fill a bath. Did you figure out where the flow restrictor was for the bath tub flow? I need to pull that sucker out.
Oh god what horrible advice. Just by the look of his flashlight I could tell this guy doesn't know what he's doing.
Looks like Claire did a great job with the camera. I especially liked it when you were showing a very tiny detail on the hot water faucet, and Claire was about 3 feet away when you asked, "Can you see this?" Sinclair said. "Yes". Then realized she was too far away, and moved in for a closeup! That was just great!
sadly I have the same issue, but my tub is tiled in and there is no way for me to access the pipes as you have done without destroying my bathroom. I don't want to live with the problem, but I don't even use my tub since it takes an eternity to fill. Sigh.
i have the same problem
Same issue 🥲
I found this solution for those of us with tiled tub surrounds! Gonna give this a shot - otherwise, our tub is just wasted space. czcams.com/video/xkuhKguekFw/video.html
Awesome!!! I have a landscape valve that has worn out at a commercial site and most of the boxes are controlled by a brass gate valve but on box connect directly to the main building's water supply. nice easy way to block water by putting the line through the valve! Thanks. Might be good to first glue a threaded female so in the future you can just screw a replacement valve.
Who needs extra parts.
is the blue pool glue a special glue for installing pvc on pools? Where can you get this?
Noice
thank you
It's a restrictor I think so you can't make it too hot.
Y'all shoud kill that damn snake ! Lol !
Isn't it awesome when you fix a long-standing problem in something you use every day, and you do it for free? Nice work!
Thank god you stopped recording when you did each step. I would want to actually see what. you did to fix the problem.
THIS
That device is an anti-scald device built in to protect yourself.
How to remove all the safety features from ur house lol.
Having same problem with similar tub. Can’t wait to try this.
Marc Owens what the hell is your problem ? Dumb As_
Been there for customers that don't wanna pay , it stops the leaks out not really a fix , better to just replace the multiport
Helpful man
when you have a pipe with a fitting close to the ground you can remove the old fitting off the pipe using a heat gun, screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers.
Yes! Can't wait to try this!
What if you don't have a junction box?
What's the coil in the light fixture? We thought the electricity was off but it wasn't. A screw driver was places inside as a second safety measure and sure enough sparks started flying and a fire started. When we checked the fixture, the coil was gone. Do we need a new light fixture? I don't want to get shocked.
We have been using the faucet this way for about 1 1/2 years since I made this video and have no problems with it.
Esa parte es más fácil de lo q muestras en tu vídeo y sin necesidad de usa esa unión.
maybe it is a pressure balancing valve that they use for showers. So that the water doesn't get hot or cold when somebody flushes a toilet or something. Doesn't make sense on a bathtub but it does on a shower.
How did it end? Did you ever find out why you did or didn't need that extra pipe? My Cold side faucet has low pressure...I'm gonna fix it!!! lol No, Really I am. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful! I subscribed so I can be notified if you ever find out that you really really needed that thing....I hope not.
Tina Shay we are still using the faucet the way it was fixed in this video and it is working just fine! Still has great pressure.
Thanks. Good Vid!
