1985 OTIS Series 1 (mod OTIS) Hydraulic Elevator @ Solana at Grand Apartments, Escondido, CA
Rather basic but nice mod with a good HydroAccel motor on the way up. I did not film the other 5 elevators in the complex as they were 100% identical and there was police activity here. Installed in 1985. Modernized in 2015.

I should check these out sometime. They seem very fast for a small hotel building
@@MasterTechPaul yes they are! 800 feet per minute!!!
This elevator was pretty small when we got on it
Strange... an Epco chime replacement...
It’s actually original as this was filmed a few days after being in service. Idk why they outsourced to EPCO on this install.
@@traction1519 That's what I mean about the bell chime
@@bryanschlippjr4894 Yeah this was an odd installation for them.
@@traction1519 At least ots still TK
@@bryanschlippjr4894 Ya TK is very reliable. They make the best hydros on the market along with MEI and Mitsubishi’s MCE hydros
It was probably a Monty then they replaced it in 2000 or 1999 with a Kone
That’s not the case. KONE didn’t exist until around 2001 and these fixtures were released after 2010.
@@traction1519 weird because in 2011 it was still a Kone kss 140 elevator this Kone is not a mod from 2015 it was probably from 2010
@@Theplanekidd it probably got modded in 2010.
The elevator was probably not a 1980 Montgomery elevator because in 2011 it was still the same
That indicator is rare. I never seen it before.
It’s neat
When I got on This elevator it wa nice but it was pretty small inside I almost did not fit in here but this was super smooth and nice this elevator felt like it was gliding
This one is maintained well unlike Westfield Culver City
Nah unlike the parking elevators at deck E del amo mall
I also got on This elevator this elevator is nice and huge and runs very good but why is the roof kind of cut on the top like a square
This would have replaced a Montgomery. This is the original wing of the mall
I don’t think it’s that way but what I think is it was probably installed in 2014 2015 then it got a slap on mod by Schindler
@@Theplanekidd this wing has been HEAVILY renovated so you can barely tell this is an original wing
You also recorded these elevators at a perfect time before they got vandalized
I’m sure these look terrible now. This mall is not located in the greatest area
Yes there's a lot of criminals around this area. They should but a security camera inside the elevator because these are super dirty and messed up. If you know metro elevators he recorded this elevator and it was dirty but at least this elevator has a epic motor
@@Theplanekidd Yeah they should have more cameras. Gardena is not too far away and is one of the most unsafe neighborhoods in Los Angeles County
I recorded this elevator but the back wall was painted white and people just vandalized it they also littered in the elevator throwing bottles and cans yeah this elevator now looked terrible
Dry powered or submersible
Probably was dry powered but might have been replaced by now.
This one is not a Schindler but it is a MEI elevator
You’re right. It’s an MEI like the Mission Valley San Diego Target used to be
There’s a new set of residential elevators in SD that are also Polaris and I think also go 6 m/s. Have you seen those yet? (Floor range B5-37). They’re still finishing up a few touches (interior cosmetics and stuff) but residents have been here for some time. They’re certainly worth checking out if you can, and hurry as they’ll probably keycard them soon!
I think I know which ones you’re referring to! Can’t wait to check em out soon!
wow❤
It’s a nice one!
The view here is so awesome, in my opinion. I'm going to visit this place sometime just for the elevators. But also I'm going to Aquarium of Pacific.
The Aquarium of the Pacific is amazing!
This one is at least working unlike the parking elevators but this one was shaking a lot when I got on it. It felt like a earthquake when I got on it
Yeah not maintained well lol
Is the cab always going to look like that?
Wdym?
@@Theplanekidd Not maintained very well, this elevator is hit or miss unfortunately
No the elevator was not a 1980 Montgomery elevator because in 2011 it was still the same
We should turn the fan off so we can only hear the elevator motor
Dang that sucked that it ended up nudging for no reason. I filmed this previously, and it was working perfectly during that time being which was on the day of my 23rd birthday.
Did you film the Mitsubishi Sigma AI 2200s when you were here?
@@traction1519 You mean the ones in the parking deck?
@@metroelevators4619 Yes. The south parking deck. The north parking deck are modded Westinghouses from 1987.
@@traction1519 oh yeah, the 3 glass ones that had been covered up and known as anti scenic
@@metroelevators4619 Yeah those ones.
I like those buttons. Modernized in 2007 1:55 2:17 Apple Watch
Is this mall high security or not? Wondering if I should risk the freights
I wouldn’t in this mall. They have ominous signs about cameras and security
@@traction1519 Update: They have a bunch of security but they don’t do anything at all 💀💀💀
@@MassiveMouthbreather I figured they don’t really care lol I just don’t bother usually with mall freights unless I know where they are
@@traction1519 for Westfield Malls, if you search “Westfield (whatever the name of the mall is) evac plan” it will show you the full plan including where the freight elevators are
You can find where freight elevators at Westfield malls are if you search online
Rode this today for an appointment. Total blast. Beautiful views, super quiet motor, fast ride.
Yes! These are amazing!!!
I know which location we're going to next time I'm in town.
HELL YUHHHHHH
A wonderful new friend
Very nice.
I think it's because Mitsubishi has a contract only with certain states or cities in the US that there aren't any of these elevators in my area. Darn it all I'm gonna have to get myself down to Chicago if I want to hear those awesome chimes in person for myself.
They’re slowly expanding around the US and have actually made it as far east now as Boston! Hopefully they will continue to expand so everyone around the US is able to appreciate the best elevator system around.
@@traction1519 Yeah. And you'd think by now, they'd have these things in Madison or Milwaukee. Maybe they will by the next 5 years or so.
@@badgerstateelevators6363 That’s for sure!
Certainly is better than the chimes they usually use on these Schindlers nowadays. Why did they have to stop using the low-pitched chimes anyway?
I think it was something with the codes that they need to be a certain pitch to be fully ADA and code compliant. So dumb in my opinion.
I do like this one. Guess where my take is? Camping out in the backlog 🤣
Lmaoooo don’t even remind me about my backlog😂😂😂😂😂
Interesting to see standard Adams fixtures instead of the ones that look like Mitsubishi fixtures.
I know! I’d love to show you this one next time you’re in the area
You just gave me a clue on what could be on floors P1 and P2. When I was younger I thought those were restricted parking levels, and looking at the west area on the mall rooftop next to the cinema, I see what looks like a covered ramp for vehicles. I say that because of the visible space between the building wall and mall roof on the south side of the theater.
P1 is Projection Booth 1 and P2 is Projection Booth 2. This used to be a department store but got completely redone to accommodate the movie theatre in 1999.
@@traction1519 What was the department store at the time
@@BDawg-zt2cu Woolworth’s I believe. Then became Sports Chalet in 1989. Unsure if the original elevator from Woolworth’s survived or a new one accommodated Sports Chalet. But Sports Chalet moved to Grossmont Center in 1998 and this elevator was added in from 1998 to 1999 for the Regal Cinemas
Dude last 2 times I was there including a few nights ago the elevator has been out of service
When my friend Kincaid worked here he said it would break often and he got stuck in it a few times
My man went to the gym to review an elevator.
No I actually workout here after work. You can’t get in here without a membership
@@traction1519 Oh I know, I go to this gym. I was more joking than anything. I thought it was cool to see a lift review in a Gym.
@@zepplin839 Lmao yeah I never rode this thing again after I filmed it haha
Why would they choose a 330A for a US mod???
I know right? This was an absolute downgrade and a complete waste of money
I believe that this is a Montgomery because of the innovation buttons
It said Target Elevator on the panel though
@@traction1519 Hmm interesting
This is a Montgomery because of the older innovation buttons
@@FOSK-lc9opInnovation buttons does not necessarily mean Montgomery
I love those wooden benches as well as the elevator. Usually when I ride elevators, I always sit on the bench before riding the elevator just in case I were to get stuck. I filmed a whole bunch of elevators and wooden benches.
Yeah definitely
I looked up Advantage, they are authorized Savaria Dealer. This elevator is interesting, they must have hire them for installation.
Really? That’s interesting! Not what I would have expected. This certainly doesn’t run like a LULA lol
@@traction1519 Not even close of a LULA LOL.
@@Jon9429 I’ve seen more Modular Elevators that run like a LULA lol
Don’t like the indicators, I prefer Mitsubishi’s iconic LED dot matrix’s indicators instead when the indicator flashes arriving at one floor
I like those better too. However these were the ones used in the 1980s up until the mid-1990s in the US. They changed the design to the ones you are talking about in the mid-1990s and these indicators were never used after 1997. The Sigma AI 2100 was the first model to use the dot matrix floor indicator and was released in the US market in 1994. It was replaced by the Sigma AI 2200 in 2001 according to an article I read.

My college campus has a vintage Montgomery elevator like this one, but it doesn't have a motor as loud and epic as this. Still, the fact that an elevator this old is still untouched is astounding.
This would be considered the famous Montgomery ‘Supernova’ motor. It’s got the distinctive ‘D’ pitch that most Monty hydros have
@@traction1519 Yeah. If only they all had that.
@@badgerstateelevators6363 the ones from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s are mostly the ones that do it.
