Goodbye Dolly Gray magic lantern slides and song
The song Goodbye Dolly Gray is associated with the First World War but was actually written at the time of the Boer War, fifteen years before the start of WW1. It has a lively tempo and people assume that it has a happy ending. This is not the case and these original magic lantern slides accompanied by an early version of the song show what really happened!

The Level Crossing - an unusual Victorian magic lantern slide story
zhlédnutí 197Před 3 lety
This set of magic lantern slides tells the story of a young girl whose boyfriend, a sailor, is lost at sea. She then realises that she is pregnant and has to make a difficult choice for the good of her unborn child. This is a unique topic for a magic lantern story and should, perhaps, change our perspective of the Victorians' strict moral code.

Houses for sale in Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay recently, NO parking. Those streets were there before cars. Most people own one these days so not sure how someone could manage now if they lived in one. Its not as if you have all the shops and services you need on the doorstep. Holiday lets make me sick though. Rich people who think they can do as they please.

People were human back then , not like the greedy pigs in 2022 who only care about their iPhone Cars and money , disgraceful , i am ashamed of humans in this era , Putin is probably the worst of the worst of them , let the history books read Putin the man who sold out his country for a Bunker LOL

Thank goodness for enlightened people like Graystone Bird, without which, all of this rich tapestry of life would have been lost.

How lovely it must have been when these houses were filled with the decent, working locals and not mostly holiday lets as they are today. Do any original families still live there?

An interesting historical record of the soap works, I was born in PS, my grandfather came over from ? Gossages, to PS right at the start, other grandfather drove a steam lorry, solid tyres, mother worked in the general office, future wife worked in the research labs, uncle was in charge of all the time clocks, PS is a lovely little factory village.

Extremely interesting imagery. Those gents were brave to say the least, pioneers for modern aviation one might even say! Graystone Bird was obviously a master of his art, just a shame so many images have been lost! GREAT VIDEO!
