Multiple questions...... 1. Can the incoming water line from the Well going to the Reservoir Tank be connected at the middle or bottom of the tank instead of at the top? 2. If the incoming line has to be at the top of the tank, is it generally noisy when it is filling (ie, hearing rushing water flowing into the tank)? 3. Can the 1" IPS Poly water line be connected through the 1" tank penetration gasket and form a waterproof connection, or do I need some type of adapter (ie PVC) to go through the tank penetration gasket and then connect the 1"IPS Poly otthe PVC?? Thank you
Hi there - thanks for the questions: 1) It’s best to bring the pipe in to the top of the tank 2) To reduce noise, you can plumb the pipe down 90 degrees and have it run to the bottom of the tank once the pipe is run into the top of the tank 3) It is best to use PVC to run thru the tank penetration gaskets and then adapt to poly IPS. Hope this helps!
@@rainbrothers Thank you, I will be ordering your kit and tank shortly
Easy way to adjust pressure switch…..change to a different pressure switch. 🙄
Carp ok if the pond or river has a gravel bottom. If it's mud or clay forget it.
Federal law about sterilization - They can be rented for cleanups
During Expo 67 in Montreal they released carp in all the waterways ( nets to confine them). They ate everything, chips, hot dogs etc. Kept water clean.
Yeah but do they eat shit?
good eats... but only in europe.
Trip- loid White Amur originally from China.
If it were a natural spring fed pond it would be in balance. I assume the carp are eating the algae that grows.
The won't let any other fish survive in that pond.
They use them in the water canals throughout your city too.
But they must be sterilized otherwise you're going to have a problem you don't want them breeding
This is useful information thanks
Crap or carp. It's your pond.
I've never heard of that and that's awesome info!!! Thank you!!! ❤❤❤
Carp take over, don't let them out to the rivers.
They have to be sterilized. I mentioned that in the video but it was a brief note so easy to miss
Not if they are sterel
Also they aren’t the same carp you are thinking of.
Yea you REALLY messed up here didn't you 😂 they're not the same carp. That's Asian carp iirc. They're literally a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT species. And they're purposely bred to be COMPLETELY infertile. So they CAN'T become invasive. Maybe don't be so cocky if you don't know what you're talking about. ☠️🤡☠️🤦♀️🙅♀️🤷♀️🤣
For about 45yrs we have been using Grass Carp in our lakes. They grow absolutely huge, fun to watch. We feed them dog food when the grandkids are around. We have never had a problem with algae or cattails.
Cattails are extremely healthy nutritious root stalk ALL OF IT....FOR HUMANS.
Awesome Intel.
Your customer has a pond.
Thanks for the info we have a couple of small lakes where I live and we are going through trying to clean them up. Very good idea.
Very helpful video!
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve got a 2hp motor on an air compressor on a 2hp pump and the motor will hardly turn and then slows down like it’s too weak it’s 120/230 motor
Motor may be seized. Make sure you have correct voltage getting to motor - pressure switch on the compressor may not be letting current thru fully
Great info. How many years, on average, do well pressure tank's last? What does the clicking mean? Thank you!
Good pressure tanks have a warranty of 5-7 years, with most lasting 15-20 years. The clicking sound is most likely your pressure switch - a gray or black box on the front of the pressure tank that turns your pump on and off
I'm considering a reservoir tank system at my home and have heard that it isn't good to run the well down to the bottom of the well. Would you recommend adding either a timer or a flow control valve to match the well's production rate in order to keep the water as close to the top of the table as possible?
Thanks for writing. Well pumps are never set at the bottom of the well, so if your concern is that you’d be sucking up sediment/sludge, it’s not likely to happen unless your well has high levels to begin with. However, a timer can be a useful addition to a reservoir system. Currently, we do not sell timers, but Intermatic makes good timers for 230V motors.
Would the pumpsaver then replace/eliminate a controll box for the original well pump? Or if you have a control box would it rewuire additional wiring? Thanks
EXCELLENT question! We get this question all the time, and I regret not mentioning it in the video. A control box serves a different function than a PumpSaver. The control box houses external start and run capacitors (which are needed for what are called “3-wire pumps”, as opposed to “2-wire pumps” which have the capacitors built into the pump itself). You still need a control box if you have one already, but control boxes do nothing for run-dry protection, so you also need a PumpSaver. The PumpSaver should be installed between the electrical panel and the control box to eliminate confusion because, after the control box, there is an additional wire in the system
A brand new build and they are going to rely on only rainwater ?
You ain’t from around here, are ya? Hahaha - just joking, but around here, we don’t always have the luxury of wells or public water. You either collect rain, or you rely on a truck to haul you water
@@rainbrothers are the wells just to deep to drill ?
Using the constant water pressure pump, do we need to install the blue tank or use a small one gallon reservoir? The contractor is asking for $5500 installing including labor. Is that fair price?
Most constant pressure pumps require at least a small pressure tank, yes. $5500 may be a fair price if you need a high horsepower pump (like a 2-3HP) due to having a deep well. But it is a ton of money if it’s a smaller horsepower pump, and the small convenience of having constant pressure is not worth the large investment, in my opinion. I’ve never had a constant pressure pump for my house and it’s barely noticeable, and not noticeable at all once I did the install noted in this video.
With the tropical downpours I get I replaced the screen with a nylon window screen and now I don't lose most of the water
Subbed. I am learning so much watching these videos and shorts👍🏾
Awesome, thank you!
Love the detail and VERY NICE WORK and CRAFTSMANSHIP! How many gallons are each of those tanks?
Thank you so much for the kind words! Each tank is 5500 gallons, so 16,500 gallon total capacity with the three tanks
@@rainbrothers Fantastic. Cheers!
I can't speak to the pros and cons of a VFD, but I have one and have had lots of trouble. My well was drilled 5-6 years ago and a VFD system was installed. Immediately there was water hammer every time the pump cycled on. The installer couldn't resolve it and ended up pulling the pump and replacing it three years ago. The water hammer persisted. He then replaced the VFD, but that did not help. Last week the second pump failed and he replaced that. The water hammer is gone, but so is the pressure. The pumps were replaced under warranty, but I paid for the second VFD. I don't know much about water systems, but I suspect the constant cycling of a VFD has caused two pump failures in less than six years.
Oh goodness! I’m so sorry to hear that. As someone in the industry, I really get frustrated when I hear that people were up-sold a VFD system for no good reason. It’s a large price to pay for a little bit of convenience. Hopefully this video helped imagine new possibilities for your home down the road, and best of luck to you!
What to do if your water tank by the pump is bad?
If you’re pressure tank is bad and it’s in a position that makes it hard to replace (for instance, if it is being used to support your jet pump), then you can simply add a new pressure tank next to your old pressure tank. It doesn’t hurt anything to leave your old pressure tank in place as long as you add a new, good pressure tank
Awesome videos thanks
I like this setup and also add that with power outages you would still have water for a bit as opposed to constant pressure only operate with power available.
Thank you soon...

Can the water go higher than this pump?
I hope I’m understanding your question - are you asking if the pump can be submerged? If so, then, yes, this is a submersible pump
Tap it. if it rings like a bell, you're good. If it thus, it's got water in it.
Cool product! Might have it made more sense design-wise and to save time in moving your stormwater runoff pipe simply by putting a 45 degree angle on your downspout so that it meets the filter in a position where the filter is directly over the stormwater runoff pipe and flush to the side of the structure so it's not sticking out?
Great Video! What are some solutions to prevent your tank from overfilling? Are the risers water tight? I have read some people having problems with ground water entering through the riser connection points.
We always recommend installing an overflow in the tank to channel excess water away. And we always apply silicone caulking liberally on the gasket of the riser before securing them to the tank
If you do not have a basement to put the tank and pump saver in could it be installed in a shed as sort of a pump house out by the well? Just dig up and re route the well line up into the pump house so to speak before it enters the house.
Yes, absolutely! As long as the tank and components are protected from freezing
Awesome video guys. Great work!
Do water tanks go bad frequently?
Not at all. Most pressure tanks carry a 5-7 year warranty, and most last 10-20 years before needing replaced
where to buy this one?
www.rainbrothers.com/store/Rain-Barrels-c73647275
I have 2 questions. ! - what is the reason a pressure tank needs an electrical connection if it is operating from compressed air. 2 - I have a 700 gallon PVC water tank in my system before water enters my house. Is there any way of converting that into a pressure tank?
The electrical connection is a switch to turn the pump on and off - it does not control the pressure tank. It is just where the pump (pressure) switch needs to be installed. And, no, there is no way of converting a tank into a pressure tank
We just had our uv lamp replaced but every couple days beep beep i was told to change my filters every 3 weeks believe me it needs it but why the beeping so much
Did you watch this video? I talk about why your UV system would be beeping and how to fix it
question, we bought a house that has a in law suite , pressure it bare minimum since it comes from the main house. If i added a pressure tank to the in-law suites water closet, would it help at all? Thanks
If your problem is actually low water pressure, a pressure tank wouldn’t add anything to your pressure, so it would not help. The thing to do would either be to use a pressure boosting pump, like this: www.rainbrothers.com/store/DAB-ESYBOX-MINI-3-p645327786 , or, if you wanted to get real fancy, to create a reservoir system: www.rainbrothers.com/store/Reservoir-Tank-System-for-Low-Producing-Well-115V-or-230V-p449074058 . We have several detailed videos on creating a reservoir system for a low producing well. The process is similar (but cheaper) for this application.
So if I use a 115 bolt pump my electricity bill will not be any higher?
As long as you’re looking at a pump that has a 115V or 230V option for the same horsepower, that is correct. The same wattage would be used no matter the voltage.
what video is the wiring

Thank you. Are there separate devices that could be installed so that I could have one box for detecting if the jet pump is pumping air so it will shut off but have it independent of the cistern's pump? My pumps are on separate breakers. What I really need right now though, is a way to get a float switch to work with a 230vac 6.1A pump to fill the cistern. I'm trying to find the best option to wire the float and need a float that is rated for potable water. Right now I have a square D liquid level switch but the arm keeps getting jammed and doesn't trigger the pump to either turn on or shut off. This leads to the cistern's water levels often being too low.
Hello - here is the float switch you would need for filling up a tank: www.rainbrothers.com/store/Normally-Closed-Float-Switch-120-230V-Bare-Leads-p281493413 . You might also want to get a cable weight: www.rainbrothers.com/store/Plastic-Cable-Weight-for-Float-Switch-Tethering-p521581298 You cannot tie more than one pump into a PumpSaver. The cistern pumps that we have (Springer Series Traditional pumps) have a built-in low level float switch to turn off automatically, so they don’t need to be wired into a PumpSaver.
Even though this is 9 years old, I am glad it is still relevant. Just installed mine and wow, was that easy to do. Thanks for such great detailed instructions.
