Looks like my old flange goes on outside of the pipe so cutting it might be tricky. I wouldnt even need to remove it but the subfloor piece around it is very moldy and needs to be replaced so i`ll have to redo the flange as well i guess.
@@karolstopinski8350 if you’re cutting out the subfloor the you’ll have more room to work with! They make different flanges for almost every situation.
Thanks for saving me money
@@tombruce6398 that’s awesome Tom! Glad you got it done. Good job.
Would this sprayer work for painting an existing room in a house? Obviously plastic would need to be put up, etc, but how's the overspray? Great video BTW!
@@daveinnc874 thanks for watching! Yes it would work fine for an existing room. You would need to mask everything.
Raw drywall you really need to make sure it's dusted well and backroll your coats. Will provide a much much smoother and better looking finish. 30 years in the business and I've never not backrolled at least the primer coat.
@@johnloos828 Yes that’s true. I would just give a quick brush off and spray and back roll. Not spending all day brushing off dust.
I wish you would've shown how to take it down first.
@@platformofglorypraisewithj2310 sorry. Slide a butter knife behind it and pull it down about 1 inch then slide your fingers in to push the clips inward and it will come down.
Im attempting to replace a old flange that has rusted out of concrete foundation. My pvc is 3 inch so I will need to get a 3 inch closet flange replacement kit correct ?
So measure the inside of the existing pipe. Lets say its 3" wide on the inside. When you go to buy the new flange you should measure the outside of it. If its 3" wide from the outside to the outside on the other side then it will fit inside the existing pipe!
Than you thank you for explaining everything simple now I will get to work wish me luck
@@jamesrogers4750 good luck! You can do it James!
Lose the music.
Where did you purchase the replacement?
Home Depot or Amazon.
I want him to
He's a Burnese mountain dog, and going to be huge! Be prepared for maximum love, cuteness, and loyalty!
Yes indeed Lola. He is so beautiful .
Can't wait until I get mine this fall
Congratulations! That’s amazing. Happy for you.
Cutest EVER
Yes and not to hyper! Very chill and lovable.
Congratulations 🎉🎊🎈
Thank you !
Going to be huge
Yes indeed. Huge paws!
Make them sign a statement that they were warned but that is what they want. CYA
It was a one day job so I’m out.
Appreciate you sir!!
Thank you Jim!
I want to do a similar set up. Just curious: Do you know if a year later it is still working?
Yes of course it is!
Nice tip thx
Welcome !
Keep it up👍
Thanks mojo!
It would have been nice to see the whole process. especially the cutting of the pipe
It’s just plastic so you can use almost anything to cut it.
second time replacing one of these but this time the light is dim after install. Wonder if I purchased a bad replacement.
That’s weird. They output different types of light like daylight, cool blue and some others.
@@diywithcontractorken.6124 I ordered another. My son informed me that when I stepped out to shut off the breaker box, that he accidentally knocked the new light off the ladder. So maybe he damaged it.
@@tjsimmons02 yea maybe. If it’s the same light as the others then it should be the same brightness. Good luck.
Clutch!!!

Trowel 😅
Yes the hawk n trowel guys do really good work!
Can you add a small amount of food coloring to check for possible leaks? Thank you
When you're done flush a few times and see if water is coming out from under the toilet. If no water comes out then you're good to go.
@@diywithcontractorken.6124 well the idea being before you start removing the tank, bowl and all, some food coloring (or similar safe colorant) is added to the tank water, flush a time or two, then look for where the water might be dripping, seeping from. Then start the removal & repair steps. Thank you
@@j.lietka9406 yes that’s a good idea. You can see where any fresh drips are coming from .
Sorry sir!! That would be a big, hearty NO!! Penalty of life in prison for adding that food coloring!!
this video is very useful!
Glad it helps. Thanks for wstching!
I'm about to try this. It looks easy thank you for sharing your knowledge making the job easy for people willing to learn something new every day
Awesome Ricardo! Good luck!
If there’s torn drywall paper, don’t u need to use primer before placing any type of drywall mud? Otherwise it will blister? Thanks
Yes you can do that but hot mud also fixes that. Also slap mesh tape on it the coat it and it will be fine.
What brand do u like the most? Level 5 or Hyde or dewalt?
All good knives but my main concern is stainless steel. It must be stainless steel. They last way longer!
We did everything you done and after 3 days it started leaking again. What is next. Could the toilet be broken. I have replaced it all 5 time. Thanks for your help. You have the been the easiest to explain this
Leaking from the ceiling below or leaking out from the bottom of the toilet?
😫 my rental has these and i was hoping i could replace the bulbs as 2/5 of the kitchen lights are out. Whoever invented these things did not think things throughly.
I know they are supposed to last much longer than the old light bulbs but they don't. The company that makes these is kind of a scam.
I would've added some spacers/wedges or shoved some of the flooring under the flange at the front where the flange sits on the wood so that the front and back of the flange is at the same height.
You are absolutely correct, more than half of that flange isn't screwed tight and flush to the flooring, it must may turn out that it isn't 'still going to be fine'...even IF the floor is only 1/8" thick which I doubt.
I have a situation where my 4" 90° fitting hub is above the surface of my basement floor. After I install the floor I'll be cutting about roughly 2" of the 90° hub out, will this toilet flange seat in what's left of the fitting?
Yes you can get a 3" flange like this one and it will fit into a 4" drain pipe.
@@diywithcontractorken.6124 According to the specs I've seen the 4" push tite is supposed to fit the I.D. of a 4" pipe. "886-GP 886-GA Inside 4" One-Piece, PushTite with Extended Outlet". I figure once I cut the hub of the 4" 90° fitting there will be a little of the 4" pipe still inside.
Concrete floor?
This is not a concrete floor. If it was I would need to pre drill holes where the screws are going to go for the flange then vacuum the dust out and glue wood rods or toothpicks into that hole the I could screw down the flange.
Great info .... But I need a video that the flange broke on a cement slab floor.
So mark where the screws are going to go for the flange then drill holes in the concrete, vacuum the dust out, the put glue in the hole then put in a bunch of toothpicks or a wood dowel, let it dry then screw the flange down.
Thanks ...@@diywithcontractorken.6124
Well done!! I like the get the hands dirty. I’m gonna try it
Thanks Justin . Messy but really fast.
Hey!! I’ve been looking for advice on dry-walling my garage… I noticed you seem to have flush ish concrete but didn’t drywall over the concrete. That’s what I’m probably thinking of doing. Can you speak more to why you made this decision? The underlying slab seems flush-ish in my situation, but definitely isn’t perfect. There are areas of lumps and imperfection that would make it difficult to drywall over. Thank you for posting this visit overall!!! Very helpful.
So even just painting it same color as the wall looks so much better. To go a step further you can run your hand across the concrete and any little chunks sticking out can be smashed with a Hammer then skim, sand, texture with the rest of the wall and paint. Also If you get it flat with the hammer you could then glue sheetrock and finish it that way. Thanks for watching! Let me know how it goes.
WD-40 will actually attract dust. So after you spray it in there and it dries, it will gunk up even faster. You'll be spraying a can of WD in it every week. Take it apart, wash it with dish soap and water, dry it with a cloth.
I know your pain dude. Almost every damn thing I rent from HD has an issue. My latest rental I rented a paint sprayer and the prime hose had a huge hole in it. I put a half a gallon of paint on the floor before I caught it. Thank god I put out 6mil plastic under the sprayer. It’s always the dumbest issues or it flat out doesn’t work. The main issue is that HD staff don’t check the equipment when it’s returned. They just take the idiot who rented it lasts word that there wasn’t an issue and puts it back on the floor.
Hard work, work ! Looks very child friendly. Too rich for my blood, unless i did it myself😅looks amazing though
Yes drywall finishing is work. Taping isn’t as bad as hanging. I guess bullnose is child friendly compared to the sharper square corners.
I’d have to see the comparison between regular and the smoothed corners, I’m so used to the regular but this looks nice too
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
I just finished installing one of these they work great. Can be a pain to remove old flange bit after that its easy
You got it done! Good job.
Amazon sells a flange that you just slide in the old flange an it works
That sounds pretty cool. I’ll have to check it out.
Thanks for the info. Out of all the videos I've watched, maybe 2 dozen. Your the second to use wax ring with no plastic insert. I'll let you know if it works.
Welcome. Glad it helped. Good luck!
