d6 waist of time
maybe it doesn't like the exhaust setup? being 2 stroke it might be struggling to scavenge effectively
R.I.P Bernard your a true gentleman and a true le😢❤❤❤
Impressive 🐼
her, her, her, her, her,
I get mine next week.
Nice catch
Ah i remember this day
Pretty sure I was there, the rain clouds look familiar. We were lucky to have airshows at both Barton and Woodford in those days.
😊
Am so sad 😂
Wow this is mechanical hardcore ,throw your drumcomputer in the thrash.
its running on one cylinder and sometimes 2, its just dumping raw fuel out
Needs some compression first
Sure, those engines are interesting, and yes, I'm sure they truly love them, but sitting there, including the old gentleman on a walker, sucking in those fumes for all they're worth is not the best choice for having a healthy day. But, I guess it is OK as long as you can get outside before you pass out from asphyxiation. Some guys get together for a cup of coffee, others go for a round of golf, and then there are others that hang around the engine shop. Good times.
I think this is my old engine. I have some new fuel pumps and injectors for this engine.
Nice rescue, but did it ever govern??? It sounded good once it was going, but I kept thinking 'stop tickling it, just let it go' during the startup.
Yes it runs on the governor now, we had to put a softer spring in to make the engine run slower.
Smoke due to cold weather? Yeah, right. It's white smoke - unburnt fuel, right to the end of the video. One cylinder is not firing - you can hear it in the exhaust rhythm - ba-bok ... ba-bok ... ba-bok. It is abuse to run an engine like that, and very unhealthy for humans.
Exhaust promoters should prove this
What a great way to annoy a bad neighbor. Just fire this up outside early one morning when the breeze is blowing their way. What a beautiful machine!
is this 3 or 4 times per second
the turbo spool down starting at 1:10 is minty

I love to see old stuff still working.
Brilliant Ian, thank-you.
Sorry I gave this a thumbs down , I don't like watching us destroy ourselves .

Love this stuff.
Nice bus

Very interesting stuff.
Our power station in Stornoway has Mirlees generators. Does anyone know how these stations still get their spare parts?
Spares are still available from MAN and other suppliers, just Google Mirrlees spares.
Robbie Robinson flying it and Chris Hutchinson in the righthand seat doing as he told!
I was there
Eastenders philips dad Crying =oma =CHETA3.A =oma crying =oma Sad =oma crying =oma Cry =oma Sad =
Very impressive! Looks like an engine one would have in a WW2 Submarine.
Can not say, I remember 4lws, in the power house, at Gardners.
Someone needs to sample this and make it a song. This has such a cool rhythm to it.
I can remember similar wee green vans running about Aberdeen harbour from the Aberdeen base. In 1994 I worked for a Norwegian engine manufacturer, to carry out the same type of head overhaul we had fully enclosed head degreasing machines, purpose built head benches, power jacks , powered cranes and powered fork lifts not to mention all the equipment to machine the heads in house. We thought that we were hard done by and doing heads was the worst job in the factory. It is hardly surprising that we don’t hear of Mirrlees Diesel now they simply didn’t move with the times. They thought that their core market customers, like Cal-Mac , fishermen and small vessels would always come back to them, unfortunately other manufacturers were simply producing a far better more efficient and cost effective products.
That brings back good memories of my early childhood holidays but to also think somewhere along that stretch I heard from an ex girlfriend who's father was an EX Pway man who sadly recalled a tragic shift that saw an old mate of his getting killed along that section
Sweet!!
These are in England.
The test locomotive used has a twin exhaust box and seems to make more noise? Guess they modified the system for the later locomotives?
Its literally a tram with another tram on top
Nice.........🥰
Well I must say that my friend Geoff is a very fortunate man extracting keys like that, for me as a stationary engine collector it was always a nightmare extracting keys😖 I was very fortunate having Geoff Challinor visiting my engine collection here in Malta while he was on holiday here👏👏👏
I went on Saturday their was loads of them
Good doggy, helping the canaries. 😅
You were doing a great job but why did you use a half centre for the job not a whole centre?????
Nice engine I do have a similar engine but smaller from experience I can say there is not enough air pressure, to start that engine a minimum of 250 PSI according to the manual it needs 300 PSI.
