Remember the 3 F’s
I sang the Modern Major General in Pirates 2 seasons ago and next week im auditioning for the Lord Chancellor in Iolanthe. I hope i don't bomb!
Que belleza de música rin ron
Funny and beautiful at the same time!!!
Saw this live in Baltimore Saturday night by the Young Victorians. I had the one opportunity in my life to see this locally live and it was the most enjoyable experience I've had at any concert. Ruddigore is that good!
So exciting to be part of this production in Cape Town
I remember hearing these songs in the 1960's
The Bonjour Paris album is also wonderful. My dad was an audiophile and every Saturday we would go album shopping. I still play these two albums a lot.
How lucky I was to find G&S and D'Oyly Carte in the 1960s when the Company was at its alltime best.
Quién más está aquí por Homer Simpson?! 😅😂
Crystal Gayle was a better singer & prettier than her sister Loretta.
Merci 😁🥰👍
i heard this on the radio this evening, had to shazam it, i thought it was something recorded in 2010-2020... it just sounded so good
Beautiful love song ❤
A great old hymn. So beautiful.

It's a great pity that you can't spell the title of the opera correctly. The YeomEn of the Guard.

Only good thing French made. 😂
I’ve never felt the same since I heard this for the first time. It shook me to my core at 11 and it still does now at 23
Inolvidable Jacques Tati

I think this song means . We shared a goodnight kiss before turning off the lights , then laying side me in the darkness , anticipating sleep or a spark , leaving us quietly concerned and pondering , with the silence deafening us like thunder ,resonating with finality of a goodbye . Its a sound that hints at the end , whether it holds truth or deceit . We could discuss mundane topics like the weather , news , or gossip in town , but underneath it all , another true love is crumbling . We could talk about promises and lies , but there's no use in shifting the blame , as the echoes of " I love you " still linger , tainted by unmistakable ring of farewell . Time maybe eternal , but love can flicker out like a dying flame , each passing day growing colder ,with the relentlessly ticking of the clock . Serving as a constant reminder of the impending farewell . Time maybe eternal , but love can flicker out like a dying flame . Each passing day growing colder , with the relentlessly ticking of the clock . Serving as a constant reminder of the impending farewell . Its a feeling they can't quite explain , an unfamiliar sensation something they once held dear . Sometimes , recognizing the signs and parting ways is a wise choice , rather than clinging to a love that is slowly fading away . Its a tough realization , but sometimes its better to acknowledge the truth and bid farewell . Rather than holding onto something that has already slipped away . Sound Of Goodbye
It was nice to hear Tommy Steele's Point in good sound. You can see excerpts on CZcams unfortunately not from the Tower of London. In that marvellous production the bell was the real one from the chapel! It was filmed in the studio. However I'm rather bored with the Two Ronnies etc.. I'll look elsewhere for 60s "YEOMEN" ACT ll. I just noticed one of the Gilbert and Sullivan d. v. d. s "Yeomen" 42 minutes is on CZcams. They were excerpts but in the traditional/ prompt-book style apart from the Duke of Plaza-Toro in a blazer. There is an interesting film trick at the end of "Yeomen": John Cartier appears to fall from the battlements onto a lower level. It's a good thing I notices Sylvia Eaves the soprano Phoebe's picture!
Thanks so much for putting these classic well-loved recordings on CZcams. I bought them when they came out. Adrian Lawson (actor/singer like me. I was in "Aida" chorus with him). He at one time John Reed's understudy told me the D. C. had extra chorus from for instance the Ambrosian Opera Chorus. They also had good orchestras for the recordings. What ensemble and orchestral solos. Gilbert couldn't tell the difference between the original King's Guard and the later band of retired soldiers! "With a view my King of pleasing" refers to Henry Vlll &"A Queen to save her head should come a suing" possibly to Anne Boleyn. Sir Richard rebuilt the Chapel after a fire near the end of his tenure. The real one didn't have daughters! As I explained in a recent, accurate article for the Gilbert and Sullivan News, the resemblances to the drama "Don César de Bazan" are more than coincidence. The latter was made into a nice opéra-comique by the the thirty year old Massenet (now recorded complete). The lovers have a nice duet unlike "Yeomen" & the hero (baritone) is a drunkard, a cad and a dueller! There is no Point character.
Remember when you said how much you cared How you would only give your heart to me You said we had a trust that lovers shared We built that trust on honesty I thought that I was blessed But I guess that I was blind You made a fool of me I opened up my heart and let you in to see What love was meant to be You threw it all away When your words no longer echoed What your eyes would say One day you'll see how you made a fool of me You let me love you each and every night I listened as you spoke each touching line You must have practiced hard to get them right 'Cause I believed you every time That must have been your style To smile and tell a lie You made a fool of me I opened up my heart and let you in to see What love was meant to be You threw it all away When your words no longer echoed What your eyes would say One day you'll see how you made a fool of me Even after all the pain its so hard letting go But I know Ill feel better when I do You made a fool of me I opened up my heart and let you in to see What love was meant to be You threw it all away When your words no longer echoed What your eyes would say One day you'll see how you made a fool of me
Seventy six trombones led the big parade, With a hundred & ten cornets close at hand. They were followed by rows and rows, Of the finest virtuosos, The cream of every famous band. Seventy six trombones caught the morning sun, With a hundred & ten cornets right behind. There were over a thousand reeds, Srpinging up like weeds, There were horns of every shape & kind. There were copper bottom timpani in horse platoons, Thundering, thundering, all along the way. Double bell euphoniums and big bassoons, Each bassoon having its big, fat say. There were fifty mounted canon in the battery, Thundering, thundering, louder than before. Clarinets of every size, And trumpets who'd improvise A full octave higher than the score! Seventy six trombones hit the counterpoint, While a hundred and ten cornets blazed away. To the rhythm of Harch! Harch! Harch! All the kids began to march, And they're marching still right today!
I loved looking at this woman ❤️ my God !! That long hair and gorgeous looks !! ❤️♥️🌹
There's a confusion here. "Green Grow the Lilacs" is not the same as "Green Grow the Rashes O" which is a poem of Robert Burns' set to music. Different words, different tune. There is no definitive origin of "Green Grow the Lilacs". It's said to be an Irish folk song, but that remains unproven.
My first breakup song. 😢😢😢😢😂😂😂😂
Tuve que recorrer a este lugar. las versiones de Michel Legrand de I love Paris. mas modernas. No se pueden comparar . Este Lp lo tuve desde los años 50.
There’s not many country songs I dislike, this is one of them
I heard this song on the radio 📻 & I had to search for it. I hadn't heard this beautiful & soothing song in ages! Thanks for posting. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥇🏆
My mom gave me a nickel, to buy a pickle. But I didn't buy no pickle; I bought some chooin' gum!
Thanks for singing as Foster wrote it
This is simply fantastic. However, it's allot earlier that 1978. More like 1972 or 73? Maybe even '71? Crystal's singing voice changed allot between 1974 and 1977. Originally, she had more of a Southern accent and sounded so much like her Sister. Her voice was always so incredibly strong though. Just a phenomenal talent. These earlier recordings aren't heard very often.
The Puppet Princess and The Treasure Behind The Little Red Door.
My mom plays the song and I just got used to it
Loved this since a child of 10 ... Current age seventy-nine.
Very funny.
I think this song means . I apologize for the terrible mistake I made and hope you find it in your heart to forgive me . Please don't say goodbye , as I cannot bear the thought of of a life without you . She exudes so much emotion that touches me deeply , causing my heart to ache . The beauty of it all is simply overwhelming . My feelings for you have not diminished , I still deeply in love with you . Take me back to where I belong , you silly boy . The world feels incomplete without you by my side , I am truly sorry for breaking your heart , please don't leave me alone . Take me back home my foolish boy , because my love for you is unwavering . How can you close your eyes and sleep peacefully without me beside you ? My mind is filled with thoughts of you , my dear . Please don't let me become a distant memory . Can't you hear my cries for you to take me back home , my silly boy , for I am still madly in love with you . Take Me Home
👏🏼
There's an error possibly with the link from Act l "I have a song" "Yeomen". I'll try clicking on Act ll.
I find the sound immediately very fine What source? Spacious and clear on my laptop B and O speakers even at the forte choruses Thanks so much for the download Bill
I love the way Gilbert pulls the rug out from under the ecstatic conclusion of the Mabel/Frederic duet with one letter: "Oh here is love, and here is truth,/And here is food for joyous laughter./She will be faithful to her sooth/Till we are wed, and even after!" The expected word would be "ever, not "even"; the tiny alteration -- and Sullivan rubs it in by repeating the phrase -- suggests a buried vein of Victorian skepticism (or realism) about marital fidelity. 🙂
Thank you for posting this fine recording! Mackerras takes an unexpectedly lush and lyrical view of a work that is usually cited mainly for its satirical wit, and it's a rewarding perspective on a richly rewarding score. Sullivan may have been disappointed when a friend told him that they thought The Mikado was his masterpiece, but in a performance like this it's hard to disagree.
Finejob❤❤🎉😂❤🎉😂❤😂
