Mind Blown!!!!
What VST is this?! Cool video!
Hey, the answer to your question is in the title of the video.
Phase plant is such a wonderful tool...! And the dude is a killer when it comes to programming sounds... Love his channel!
Thank you so much!!
What is the Breath lane controlling here?
It's been a long time and I cannot say for sure, but it's probably the vibrato.
@@LeandroGardini Interesting. I haven't been able to get the artificial vibrato from this library to sound good, but yours sounds fine. There are so many options to tweak that I can believe that I didn't find the right ones. Maybe I should try again. Also, do you know whether the dynamics were set to X-fade mode or keyboard mode for this? I found that the phase alignment applied to the samples in X-fade mode sounded bad, but keyboard mode seemed like it would require coordinating the main volume parameter with the velocity in a painfully fiddly way to achieve dynamic nuances during sustained notes.
Love all the imperfections that you added! That really makes it feel real.
Great rendition! Is this flute 1 or 2?
It's flute 1.
Wow! Well done! This is the kind of sample library demo that makes me open my wallet! Not those boring 18+ minutes videos, of only talking and tweaking knobs.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I purchased VWinds Flutes yesterday, can't wait to start working with it ! I listened to your demos of the double reeds and clarinets, are you still happy with them ?
Vwinds are for sure the best woodwind library up to date.
@@LeandroGardini I'll wait for the next sale to get the other ones then! (And I already have shit tons of great woodwind libraries...!)
That’s a fantastic piece Leandro! We would love to feature it on our channel. Let us know if you would like that too and we will make a video for it.
Thank you. I will be happy to see it featured on your channel as long as credit is given. What do you have in mind for the video?
@@LeandroGardini that’s great! Well, giving credit is all we do! We do it to promote the artists and their work. You can check one of our videos to see how we give credits. Also check our channel info to see our approach. For the video, we usually take a consstent approach with slow moving artwork - in your case the theme will be the twilight ofcourse. Again, check some of our videos to see our aesthetics, as we will do something similar - trying to keep the focus on the music.
@@LeandroGardini you are featured! We hope you like the result.
Thank you!!!🙏
Dang, that's really good. Accousticsamples is really sounding great. BTW, same question as samjohnstone: what strings are you using there? Sample modeling or something else?
Cinematic Studio Strings
This is an interesting combination. What made you decide when to use IB, and when to use the SM Brass?
There isn’t a specific reason in this case. The purpose is to blend both seamlessly by alternating the chord notes between the two libraries.
Would you mind telling what string library you used here? Is it SM?
Pacific Strings
Que lindo! <3
Really nicely done! The instrument sounds really very good too. It’s hard, I’m sure, for devs to find that balance between playability and realism in sound.
So good! Hope you're well Leandro! I'm wondering how this flute compares to something like Aaron Venture Studio Woodwinds or maybe a less playable/adaptive library like Cinematic Studio Woodwinds?
The other libraries you’ve mentioned bed are great, but Vwinds is currently superior in my opinion. There's nothing like Vwinds on the market today.
Amazing ❤
Have you found that you can get multiple instances of the Sample Modeling solo strings to sound good in unison? I've tried using two instances of the solo violin at once before, and found that giving them different CC100 values was insufficient to avoid phasing in passages where they were in unison. I may only have tried it dry. I found that SWAM solo strings don't phase with each other when they have different instrument bodies even when dry, and the fact that the Sample Modeling ones did might have made me nervous enough to write off using them in unison as a bad idea without checking whether placing them differently in Vienna MIR would eliminate the problem.
I haven't tried your idea yet, but I suppose it's a good effect for simulating small chamber. I'm afraid the technique must be taxing for computers that are not so powerful.
@@LeandroGardini Since making my original comment, I tried using several instances in unison with different CC100 values and different placements in MIR. It still sounded a little artifacted (again in a way SWAM doesn't), but vastly better than it did dry. I asked in the first place because you have two solo violins here. It makes sense with what I found that even if this isn't theoretically ideal in unison passages, the issues it causes are subtle enough to be imperceptible when the solo violins are layered with other things and not featured prominently.
Bravo! Que hermosa música
Thanks for sharing this video, I love the arrangement and the possibilities that these virtual instruments can provide us. Loved it.
Incredible job programming and performing. Sample Modeling strings can sound sooooo good in the right hands.
Great job!
That is very good. I'm amazed!
Thank you!🙏
I'm not thrilled with the tone, a bit too synthy for me.
Thanks for your input anyway.
Hope this helps. I have no clue whatsoever HOW do people make these sound good. I absolutely love the playability of them.. the sound out of the box is awful. The cello sounds like some squeeky toy that tries to resemble a cello imho. It's too nasal. It's like someone is mocking the cello with his mouth lol. Hope this video will shed some light on these problems as well.
I hope my video provided you with valuable insights.
Fantastic, as with all your stuff. May I ask if you loaded up the "dry" version of the instruments? I recall that there's' a dry folder and one with pre-applied verb. I wasn't sure what you had used here. Assuming the "dry" patches...
Thank you. Yes, I always use the dry patches.
Thanks for this. Would it be possible to export some sort of preset from VSS2 that includes the positions, amount of early reflections, mic setup etc.? It seems you did some changes to the defaults for those.
Yes, it's possible to save presets in VSS2. I have likely made some changes to the Virtual Sounds Stage, but I cannot specify what exactly as I've been using this same preset for years.
Fascinating video, Leandro! Do you play in each line separately for solo, chamber, and ensemble sections, just A&B with separately played in lines, or everything using the same MIDI?
Good question. Sometimes I play in and sometimes I copy and paste midi. It depends on the specific occasion. I will tackle this subject in the next tutorial. Stay tuned!
Between Sample Modeling Brass & Infinite Brass, together can have something realism into their hearts.
Fully synthetic libraries are really curious to me. On one hand, you have the outmost realistic control of the instrument but on the other it sounds nothing like the real instrument it's trying to mimic. It's perfected uncanny valley. This would be great for an electric cello.
The key is to know when and how to use modeling instruments. With the right technique, they sound perfectly fine in the musical context.
Absolutely amazing job on the programming here… fantastic sound ❤
Did you layer any libraries? These Strings sound so good !
I've layered SM ensembles, chamber and solo strings on the top. I'm preparing a tutorial about it.
@@LeandroGardini Wonderful Sounding demo using SM Strings. Looking forward to watch, and learn from your tutorial video. I think this library deserves having more video tutorials. Thanks 😎👍🏻
@@LeandroGardiniWill the tutorial use some expensive spatialization tools like MIR Pro 3D? I love the sound here but I'm afraid I might lack the tools for the job
Good news. No expensive plugins are required. Just your sharp ability.
@@LeandroGardini Awesome, looking forward to it since my SM Strings have been sitting unused for a while
Are these easy to place in a virtual space? Sounds really good!
It's fairly easy to place it on a virtual stage. However, if you are referring to matching it with other string libraries, some work must be done.
@@LeandroGardini I was also asking about that, yes. Thanks. Same as their brass bundle I suppose?
Compared with the strings, I consider their brass easier to match with other libraries. With the right technique though, SM brass and Infinite Brass match seamlessly. I have one recent video demonstrating both interacting with each other.
@@LeandroGardini I see, i'll go check that video. Do you still use Samplicity's verb to place your VIs? I'm still thinking about getting this one from time to time !
@@JeremieFriez yes, I use it sometimes.
Amazing❤
Amazing!Love it!
love it
This is beautiful! May I ask what vst did you use for the brass ?
Thank you. It’s infinite brass.
Was that your kid around 9:07 ?I thought it was mine 😂
I guess it was my kid.😆
I mean it’s borderline identical. I’m not sure how you pulled off all the nuances with the strings but wow wow wow
Amazing 🤩
@Leandro, just curious if you prefer to set CC25 (Velocity to Dynamics) to 0 or 127? i.e. do you like having complete manual control of attack ramps, or do you prefer the convenience of the automatically generated attack ramps?
It depends on the situation. I pull CC25 down to 0 whenever I feel there's a specific transition I want on the legatos. But it's not very often, though.
Wow, that ending, suddenly the brass comes forward, that's immense. Great track.
Hi @Leandro, just curious how much you use Sample Modeling instruments in your Scoring Tools Masterclass course?
I cannot tell because I have to showcase many other libraries. But SM is part of my main libraries. Did you sign up for the course?
@@LeandroGardini I haven’t signed up to the course yet, but if I knew more Samplemodeling tutorials like the above are in your course then I’d certainly consider it.
Beyond teaching how to use specific sample libraries, what I teach in Scoring Tools Masterclass are principles that can be applied to any tool.
@@LeandroGardini Good to know. I have one final question please... from your videos it seems you draw in modulation and expression manually with the mouse after you've first entered in the notes, is that correct? So you play in the notes with a modulation/expression at a set vallue first, then after add the modulation and expression with your mouse, yes?
You are correct!
❤
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I am surprised, that You could avoid that cheesy permanent portamento of that lbrary.
Don't the portamentos bother you? I know they trigger only on high dynamics. Do you avoid the high dynamics in this case? Cause the legatos are just perfect for this piece.
The highest velocities and intended to trigger the portamento, not another higher dynamic. You may use them sparingly only when you want port.
AMAZING😍🤩👍
Thank you! Cheers!
it does not sound full or even half close like the teldex in their sample libraries i spend hours with a lot of techniques and reverbs to match the TREE Reverb sound of orchestral tools found in berlin brass and it turned out that real halls and rooms have complex tones and have natural dynamics even people with phd in audio and physics could not replicate it so i moved on
We all have different experiences and results; and none are rules set in stone.
No poly legato, no vibrato control ? It’s outdated already. 😂
Excellent. Would you say this library is really necessary if you already own vista and numerous other high end string libraries? It sounds very similar to Vista to me.
I don't own Vista, but as far as I can tell, except for the ensemble size, they sound similar. If you have many other string libraries I would save money on this one. Especially that the librry needs important features like legato and vibrato control.
Thanks for the tip!
Vista is a chamber sized orchestra and Pacific Ensemble Strings is Symphonic Orchestra
Nice Leo. How are you satisfied with the lib so far?
The library is very consistent, especially on the crossfades. However, it lacks basic features like legato and vibrato control. It will be a waste if Jasper never update it.
@@LeandroGardini I don't understand your comment. Pacific certainly has legato. A very nice legato.
I meant legato control.
