I hope the sequel has the delivery as its goal. I will miss the navigation, ladders, building roads and other players collaboration. That and the bond with the bb made the first game. I think from this trailer it looks a bit silly. Guy with a guitar as a gun. Gone a bit to far.

100$ that is Jenova. The big hint is actually with Red13 & Tifa. Red was deceived by jenova in OG and if that was clouds mind Red would not have sensed anything I.e when they were mourning at the temple. Tifa has been in the lifestream and was right next to red and she did not have a reaction.

I think, that you are seeing two timelines when it glitches one where she survives then the one your in where she doesn’t.

Maybe not needed but definitely accepted Zack’s one of the best characters in the series miss the old voice actor though. I feel like anyone that got invested in crisis core got hit hard in the feels knowing what he went through to save cloud and seeing them back to back taking on sephiroth friggin slapped man.

39:19 I think sephiroth is acting at face value, he said that this BM is a key to find the real counterpart in the world between worlds. He’s using the key to conjure up the real black materia. I think it’s a final safeguard in case someone manages to get the “black materia” and not get crushed by the temple. That was the first line of defense, but then they somehow banished it between worlds? I think sephiroth conjures it, but for some reason he lets it fall, or at first it looked to me like it fell through his hand. Which is why I don’t think he actually gives it to sephiroth a few minutes later… I think he wants cloud and everyone to think he has it, but as we know from the ending cloud still has it. I think sephiroth made cloud think he’d given him the materia but he actually pocketed it to give to sephiroth’s physical form in the crater. I don’t think this sephiroth can actually hold it.

An idea just struck me. I think sephiroth got his idea for splitting realities and reuniting them from jenova reunion. He’s just scaled it up in a big way. I’m fairly certain the shattered world fragments were created when the whisper harbinger was defeated (which I think will end up being a double edged sword for him- more on that later). Sephiroth wanted the party to defeat “destiny” to shatter the world into fragments, specifically so he could become more powerful by merging them back together. This isn’t too dissimilar from his original plan to absorb the Lifestream at ground zero of the world’s destruction, but on a bigger scale because now we’re dealing with the fabric of reality itself. But because defeating destiny created those other fragmented realities, it opened the door for elements from those worlds making their way back into primetime. Which is why I think Zack is really around, not just to show us timelines and how they work. I don’t think timelines is even the right way to look at it. They’re fragmented pieces of alternate realities (worlds unbound by fate, doomed to fizzle out). We’ve seen that people, or at least their consciousnesses, can travel between these realities, and physical matter can be affected, which tells me they have a certain amount of… realness for lack of a better term. There’s also talk about how they could be memories and dreams made real. The reason they gave us the option to skip the zack stuff upon replaying is purely quality of life, because none of it affects your actual gameplay- that doesn’t make it any less important. And I think we’ll finally see the result of that in part 3, as long as they stick the landing

Drew, what a pleasure to watch your playthrough, especially wanted to see your reactions to this final chapter. Had to wait until I finished the game myself, so took me a couple weeks longer, but what a journey this has been! I also had to pause the game conpletely to try and compose myself. I failed miserably 😅

I’m 50/50 on whether cloud is in denial, or Aerith is actively suppressing his memories to prolong his full breakdown. It could be a little of both, to be real. The only other part I can’t reconcile is why he’s seeing the tear in the sky. That could be totally unrelated though, and maybe that was sephiroth’s “blessing”; cloud being able to see other worlds

I remember people complaining how bad this game was. I bought it for myself to see and it turned out to be one of the greatest experiences in gaming. Thanks for showing us your walk through! The ending hit us all like this.

1:33:33. You also have to understand that........the PLANET is not always a 'good entity' in this story. Sephiorth didn't kill Wedge or Biggs in the original timline the PLANET did (the planet's whispers yeeted Wedge out a god damn window and tried to crush him at the sector 7 plate). The PLANET also says that it is perfectly fine with humanity being wiped out in less then 500 years (according to the og Ultimania) to the point that AERITH is willing to defy fate/destiny for the hope of a better outcome. So we can't neccesarily look at Cloud and the others fighting the white whispers/being stopped by them as a sign that what they are doing is a BAD thing

Once the battle against Jenova Lifeclinger began I couldn't hold my tears back. The music really hits hard here...

In my opinion, I don’t think there’s a multiverse at play here. Those alternate timelines are INSIDE and part of the lifestream, which was also shown in the og FF7. Yep, you heard that right. The rift that Cloud saw in the ending was also in the og FF7. It was during the part where Tifa is fixing Cloud’s fucked up mind. It may look similar to the rift, but it has the same color. They are only expanding the timeline thingy using the black and white whispers. Also, one detail you missed during the first phase of the Jenova fight was that, everyone’s limit break is in full bar, while Cloud is zero, because everyone saw and believed that Aerith died, while Cloud knows he saved her and is alive in an alternate timeline or whatsoever. But nah, I believe that Aerith is dead. Our main Aerith is dead. The “alive” Aerith is inside the lifestream, and that’s just it. She won:t be able to interact with the gang (unless she permits herself to), except Cloud

Great discussion. I’m wondering if you noticed how certain cutscenes involving Aerith at the end were omitted from the Credits, and if so, what you think of that? They’re not just absent, but replaced by conspicuous black/blank space. Except for the very final shot where she’s saying “goodbye.”
