I noticed you ran the machine at 150in/min. I believe it's capped at 120 out the box. The website states a max speed of 4800mm (188in/min) but doesn't mention anything on acceleration. Have you tried changing the stock 50mm/sec^2 (1.97in) to anything greater? Just curious since I just started adjusting parameters recently!

Great overview - I have been saving up for my first laser engraver and this looks like it could be a great kit once adding in the air assist pump.

Seems like a no brainer that the DIY KIT would be a better way to go. I agree however that they should raise the price a few bucks and include the air pump. Good review my friend.

WOW! Great review, Dave. The extra cost makes this one a much better choice. With a larger work area, an E-Stop and if I remember right, the Honeycomb base makes it a no-brainer over the mini. That's just my opinion.

Nice straight forward laser that looks easy to assemble and use. The 10 watt lasers have really came down in price since I bought mine. Thanks for the video, Dave.

Where can I buy the sled & the stop? My biggest issue is getting the correct measurement for the stop. I use some weird sizes. It's kinda time consuming finding 2.24 for my stop.

These 5w and 10w kit lasers are a nice deal for someone wanting to get into engraving and light cutting. I fully agree with you on the need for an E-Stop button on any machine like this. Always nice to see another video from you!

Hi Dave. Great project. I’ll have to try it or put my own style on it. Been following you for years and playing around with cnc machines since the 90s. I follow the local ads and actually just picked up a GarageWorx 4x4. Still getting it dialed in for hobby stuff although I’ve already made some simple signs for a few people. Wishing you well and I’ll always follow you in your projects and builds. Now to get Rick Springfield and my high school years out of my head…

I have done SO MANY projects with cedar fence posts over the years. Very economical, and cuts really nice. Often they are very wet from the box store, so I always let them sit for a while to dry out.
