I thought the same thing myself but was looking at the core housing, the slot for the filter was right next to it. But it’s entirely possible you don’t have a cut out, like I said I think someone mentioned that before with their 08 I believe…

@@SlowCarsFastSFV for the trans you will need to drop the subframe and hang the motor (or support from underneath but not recommend) or if you really needed to pull it from up top you’ll need to pull the motor first, IIRC the trans is shoved kinda under the driverside frame rail a bit isn’t it? I don’t think you’d have the clearance to go up. That said pulling the subframe isn’t terrible, even if you gotta do it on a garage floor. I have a couple FWD trans videos that show my method but I just use a 2x4 and my jack to lower/raise subframes in my garage.

Few hours with a lot of smoke breaks 😂 but seriously though I’ve done the turbos on our 15 sport and that was way more time consuming than the timing cover. If you’ve done all that work already the cover should be a breezy job for ya.

Have you ever messed with the rear hvac on these '16 model ford explorers? Know where they are located ?

Thanks man! Appreciate you! As for the rear HVAC I believe that whole assembly is located in the left rear quarter panel. Open the hatch and it should be behind that left side panel.

Unfortunately you’re faced with 3 pretty labor intensive options in that case: 1 - Drop the engine, transmission, and front k-frame from underneath, then separate with TC attached (make a huge mess) and cut the bolts/get a new TC. 2 - pull the engine and trans out the front (remove front end) and then separate again with TC attached. Or 3 - drop the oil pan, unbolt the rods, try and turn it over with the crank free. Good luck! 🤝

This one ran fine at idle. Owner was chasing down an odd “misfire” that’d occur around 2k rpm. Full disclosure, it wasn’t diagnosed by me, he had a “buddy” who works at ford and he diagnosed it. I don’t really believe the DIs had anything to do with it really, I drove the truck beforehand, and afterwards and I think it was maybe a little “psychosomatic misfire” the owner was feeling (like I mentioned in the video it never set a misfire code or failed a monitor) but he swears this fixed the issue 🤷‍♂️ Sorry that doesn’t help ya much with yours. ⁠​⁠@@RiggsCothanks! I’ll definitely post what it turns out to be if I get it figured out. This one is sporadically misfiring at idle, and occasionally under load as well. I’ve gone through just about everything and can’t figure out what could be causing it.

@@alexp6016 Had a similar thing on my '18 f150 3.5L ecoboost, but throwing a misfire code, a low fuel pressure in the rail, and white smoke plus gas dripping out the tailpipe. I switched coils and plugs around, but it stayed with the cylinder, so was pretty sure it was a stuck open injector. First got to the port injectors, but they all seemed fine. But with the DI rail, the injector leaked air even at 60psi. I don't know how different the 5.0 is, but this injector failed open at only 81k.

@@giro994 That turned out to the problem with this truck as well. It had around 60k miles if I remember correctly, so pretty low for an injector failure.

This fixed the issue for me. P0304 Cylinder 4 misfire and P0316 misfire on startup. Cylinder 4 direct injector was dirty. Replaced just that one (don’t come after me I’m poor). Took me (rookie) 6 hours to complete. Most of the time was spent fighting the damn wire harnesses on the backside of the motor.

It’ll just hang from the column/tie rod ends. You could tie it up with a bungee cord or something I’d you really wanted it supported, but it’s not really necessary. It’ll just hang there.

Potentially. You’d need the wiring harness and engine computer from a V6 nox to go with it. How well that would communicate with the existing body control module and the rest of the car, I don’t know. In my opinion would be a waste of time, they’re both hunks of shit anyway lol
