I'm new to this game. So if I want a +5 in Strength when leveling up, just leveling a MINOR skill like Hand to Hand will give me that? Then I level another MINOR skill like Destruction to get +5 in Willpower and then I level a MAJOR skill like (in my case) Heavy Armor 10 times and get +5 in Endurance and when I sleep I get +5 in the Attributes I want to. I don't have to level anything else, I can save that for leveling later and thus get the highest level in the end? It would be awesome if someone replied if I was right or wrong. This game is giving me a headache...

I use a speedrunning trick to get out of the tutorial area. I then bring skeleton scrolls back into the tutorial area. I dupe them and use the skeletons to grind up skills and force level until my associated attributes are 100. When you pick your class the system will adjust your skills to match your level and attributes. All this because console commands can't be used on a PS3. We make do.

I would’ve put wraith a lot higher. The fact that you can’t knock them back, disarm them, or paralyse them with melee (or the illusion spell for that matter) plus their stat draining spells make them really frustrating to fight.

An objectively superior alternative is playing with the Ultimate Leveling mod, settings changed to use skill'use-based experience, 10-15 attribute points per level, horseshoes, enemy kill and nirnroot exp rewards turned off. Mainly to not have to hassle with the efficiency imbalance and to restrain you from scumming level 1 most of the playthrough just because of tougher enemies and scaling. Mid difficulty feels fair and there are options for health and magica scaling to match NPC level scaling.

Ah yes, the famous Fearsome Mudcrab, known to be even more frightening, tough and fearsome than the Champion of Cyrodill himself

Personally I like leveling 5/5/1. I always go for a character with 100 in every attribute. Last time I went as far as using felldew to get base attributes past 100.

The Xivilai, those blue giant daedras would always take all of my potions, magicka and damage every gear i had. Plus they can summon the Clannfears as well and heal themselves. I don't know how the Xivilai didn't make it on this.

You know a system sucks when guides go “stop using this skill right away” and “I accidentally leveled up a third skill so even my guide is 5/5/4.” And to make it worse? Not playing this way means that leveling up makes you weaker. I like oblivion but hate its leveling. It’s what keeps me from going back to it
