We're can I find this bed cover for my truck 2004 Chevy Avalanche Z71
Covers the back window...that's really brilliant....what a stupid idea!!😂
Donde puedo comprar?
The bed cover of the avalanche does it fit on silverdado extended cab?
Has anyone in the comments installed one and can speak on it being water tight? My stock cover leaks and i need water tight
Why does the back right corner match the left back corner ?
Legendary hair.
Does it work with Cadillac escalade ext as well ???
yup
Much better than factory. I hate the factory ones! Factory cover leaks and is so heavy!!! I wonder if this would fit the Cadillac Escalade ext also? Escalade is like an Avalanche.
Although how good this is , it’d get in the way when you wanna get the most out of the midgate by putting something big like an atv or large refrigerator in the back and into the cabin like it’s meant to. Plus the stock panels can hold about 340 pounds on it even though it takes time to take all of them off. It’d be a great investment if you’re not hauling big stuff like motorcycles and quads.
If I had a dollar for every time he said “rail” I’d have a million dollars
Aún disponibles???
Great video, i know its 11 years old but at 8:26 does anyone know where to buy that black plastic window panel covering the holes in the plastic roll bars?
I assume you mean the triangular cutout sections of the sail panels on the Avalanche. That is my truck in the video, and those are custom made to fit the space both on the inside and outside. It was done in CA, so if you are interested in getting some, I can send you the information. BTW - Others have asked what the symbol on the sail panel glass means. Not Of This World
@@MultiEviscerator Thank You sir.
I'd be interested in getting some of those sail panels windows as well if you can get me the information as well.@@MultiEviscerator
@@andrewnelson2066 I cannot remember if I sent the information to Bartyhummer directly or not, and now I am not positive if I still have the contact info for the vendor. Let me look into it, and if you have not heard back from me privately or in this thread, give me a friendly reminder after the first of the year.
I am sorry if I am premature in asking but does it leak? If this solves the leaking issue for me then I am all in on this?
No, it does not leak, and as I have pointed out, it is my truck in the video.
Lol. This thing's a joke.
I disagree, as it has kept my bed dry and nothing has ever been stolen from it.
Just paint the old one ☝🏿
Thanks I’ll say great video and super song RIP Don
It’s not heavy duty or water prof so hell no
I know right, he said thousands of dollars to get original from GM if they are faded when I just got mine painted and it looks 100xs better smh
Incorrect
Yay!!
Trash... what shitty product,
Chevy really needs to bring this truck back.
Indeed, as nothing on the market does everything the Avalanche does.
I have one and I completely agree. She’s very unique and is very convenient for me
Facts
You’re getting your wish, unfortunately it’s coming out as an all electric truck. Which in my opinion sucks. However they found a way to make it with a full width and length bed.
be careful of what you wish for. usually when they bring back something, it gets the royal cheap out treatment. this ship has sailed just like the Blazer, and all the rest of the great vehicles.
Great video, very informative, and awesome cover. That said, I personally would not give money or care what a guy in mid 40's that looks like shaggy from Scooby-Doo is selling... It's time to grow up son.
What a negative comment based on a persons looks and age. I have the same hairstyle I did in HS and still wear jeans most of the time. Outward appearance means very little. Since it is my personal truck he installed the BakFlip on, I can tell you the product is great, as well as his professional instillation. So if you judged him on his looks, you would be selling yourself short.
I was about ready to buy when I saw comments on BAK website that these leaks. And fall apart in a few years. Have these design flaws been resolved?
I assume Eddie Murphy is on the camera. Get it??
Waste of money
Looks like Dennis from fast n loud.
I like the factory one better
I love this truck all models, but my question is, once it's on can you still put the drain parts back on the truck.. I ask this because one I'm looking to buy this truck soon & secondly because the open space above the tail light is still exposed to oncoming water and the drain cups an rails were removed???
Just finished installing the G2 Bakflip on my 2010 Avalanche. easy install, only glitch was rod that holds panels up was pop riveted backwards and would not set flat, reinstalled rivets and all is good. Looks great fits nice and tight, will have to check water sealing later.
By the way self tapping screws suck drill pilot holes. lol
seem very easy to brake in to
I always loved Rowdy Roddy Piper....who would have believed he would be selling avalanche covers!
Rowdy Roddy Pipper was terrific back in the day!! Only Rick could entertain on the same level.
He looks more like nick nolte from 48 hours movie
I thought you said you improved on the design. Guess not.
Great video I had mine installed in 40 min. Thanks. Pay no attention to the naysayers, some people would bitch about the color of gold even if you gave them a pound if it.
Now that is funny,,,,I don't care who you are.
DAAAADDY?????
how do you unlatch the cover when opening?
Watch the video. He shows you how to do that.
This is my AV, and let me tell you that the BakFlip is still working as designed and still looks great. It is secure, waterproof and a breeze to open/close. Everyone asks where to get one, even if the cost might throw them. However keep in mind that you can just sell your original panels to offset the cost. The used OEM panels are in demand because far too many are stolen or lost. You never have to worry about anything being stolen from in your bed with the BakFlip, as these aluminum panels are not going to be pried open like the originals can be. Also when you drop the last panel with the tailgate up, it automatically locks in place without having to push it down on both sides like when it was new.I highly recommend it.
The original panels lock from the inside with metal brackets. You can not break into them from the outside, unless you absolutely destroy them with an axe or something. And they are way more heavy duty. The only upside I see to this would being able to fold them up and leave them like that to use the bed space for hauling things.
@@bradleymenezes6196 The original panels from the factory were being pried up (I wont say how publicly) in part because they were individual, not one contagious system like this one is. Regardless, as you point out one of the great aspects of the BakFlip system is you never need to remove the panels and then store them (taking up bed space) so they themselves don't get stolen or lost. They also don't fade with minimal washing/maintenance. As I mentioned, the Avalanche in the video is my actual truck, and I still have the BakFlip system in place. It is convenient and secure. FYI - a couple of people have reached out to me asking how to buy one. I do not own nor work for the company. So while I am happy to answer any questions about my personal experience with it, you would need to contact them directly for sales information.
@@MultiEviscerator yeah but how much water gets back there? And dont worry you dont need to answer any questions about the product lol
@@MultiEvisceratoralso wondering how they will age. My covers are original from 2004 so 17 years old. They are faded just like the rest of the cladding but they have still held up and are still working fine. The only thing is the rear panel or 3rd panel by the tailgate seems to have a bit of a sag to it in the middle. Which allows water to drip down the inside of the tailgate. Is yours flush against the tailgate with some kind of stripping?
@@bradleymenezes6196 To answer both questions, I do not have any water leakage to this very day, otherwise I would not be such a fan. That said, it was obviously installed by someone who knew what they are doing. As to the last piece closing, it slightly overhangs the very inside and has a flap that lays on top of the tailgate surface. Now I do silicone it now and again to keep it supple. The panels themselves are painted aluminum, so just spraying some car wax/polymer on them like you do the paint helps keep them protected and looking great. Certainly better than the factory panels. In regard to your faded bed covers, sail panels, cladding, etc., there is a product that far exceeds all others and lasts for years with just one application ( though I like to apply two coats, one day apart). It is called Refinish Restorer, and rest assured there is nothing better on the market.
my original panels leak and everyone knows how much of a pain in the ass the black on an Avalanche is to keep looking nice. I am looking forward to mine being installed this week. Some of these posts such as how bad it is to drive with them blocking the window... really you have mirrors and many vehicles such as cargo vans have no view in the center. Perhaps driving isn't their fortay? For someone to say it is a waste of $800. Mine leak so you are completely wrong. And $800. to some people is not all that much money. Try replacing just one panel from Chevy.
If you still have your avalanche and you are having problems with keeping the panels black, I did mine with Forever Black Tire Gel. It gets it black in 1 application, but is best with 2 and it stays after several washes. I always want to go up to people with faded avalanches to tell them my secret, but I don't want them to get mad. Don't get it on your paint or you going to have to get a clay bar to get it off. Tape off areas near the painted areas.
My old avalanche didn't have the panels. It had the one piece soft cover. That thing was a pain in the ass overtime to keep putting back on.
This is much better than the factory panels. One of the issues with the factory panels is the width of the tracks to hold the panels in place. It reduces the width to less than 48". You cannot have any 4' wide sheet of plywood or drywall sitting up over the tailgate with the gate closed. This would be a huge upside to the original panels. The million dollar question is - after the rails are installed, what is the width between the rails? Thank you.
Charlie Henley? I was going to swear it was Dennis Collins from Fast and Loud!
Why cant this be found on the backflip website?
Gzeramee Bush what year avalanche did you look for? apparently they don't have one for the only year that mattered. 2002 BABY! ;-)
but how do you lock it?
Nick Nolte's son knows his stuff
lol
I painted my cover and it came out nice
The original or the aftermarket cover ?
not as functional as it looks, what about if need to carry huge things and remove the tilgate, it will be a big deal to disassemble, assemble and adjust again
Where can I find this and how much
Jerry - I used Pinnacle.
And cover the back window when driving if you need to leave it up... GENIUS!!!
Were did you get them plastic windows for the real plastic?
I want to know too did you find out?
no I didn't. I did find one website that had them at one time but they stopped making them.
Driving in the fully open position and blocking the rear window is not a good idea!
Why cant you drive with the rear window blocked?? I drive A tractor trailer and only have mirrors to rely on. No rear window
didnt op for backup camera? lol
you only fold it all the way back if you have tall cargo in the bed, which block your view anyway
@@johnrussell7385 if you need back up camera to drive a pick up, you really need a smaller car
