One criticism. The ribbon's shell is too wide and big. Certainly all that space is mostly empty. The synth itself is interesting and has a desktop friendly format, size and function quality to it. But the shell of thar ribbon is not user/space friendly
Totally agree! The large size is due to it starting with me making a 3D printed compliant mechanism to make the whole board springy, much like the original Trautonium. After I decided to use a pressure-sensitive strip instead, I just kept the case as-is and used the size to add the ribbon stick areas (like the markers on the original Trautonium) and to make it left-to-right reversible. Ideally, it would be much thinner and narrower, but that's for V2. 😆 Thanks for the feedback!
@@gwygonik Thank you for the kind reply. Does your synthesizer accept any ribbon? And, if I may ask, is it a product you are now selling or a prototype?
@@jumpingman8160 The synth would accept pretty much any ribbon that sends analog voltage for pitch (and pressure if so equipped), however they would most likely need an adapter to use the connector I chose (specifically a RJ45 ethernet jack, which also carries power and button info, as well as serial comms for the MIDI sequencer). And at this time (Summer 2024) the synth is "an experiment" - a platform for trying different musical input methods, making different types of sounds, and seeing what comes from it all. Maybe a product someday, or bespoke for someone that wants one...
