Thanks to your video I could replace o rings around the hydraulic couplings barrels on a John Deere 8520. Stoped the leaking couplings
You're welcome glad it helped.
Would this be the same steering valve in a 4230?
Yes if you have an early one with the 7” seat well.
Thanks man
How does it work
It has a coil and the momentary switch to fire the plug.
Anything to do different?
Should be about the same if you are just resealing leaky couplers.
Thanks, my tractor has the two lines going into the top of the mounting of the hydraulics. I am going to assume I am going to get oil out of lines when I disconnect?
Yes, yours is the early style with controls under the dash then the oil is piped back to the remotes.
well done, can you do a video on a 3010 Brake Valve Overhaul Kit install
I do not have one that needs repair at the moment but will make a video on the next one that comes through.
Zero point to this...
Never used a snatch block I guess? doubles the pulling power.
What type of grease and is it hydraulic oil for putting back together on the parts
Just Hydraulic oil in the can and a red #2 grease like from a grease gun or your tub for bearings.
How about show the process, may get some views if ya did.
@@kerrypowell5913 I can do that this evening for you.
Bravo!!!!👏👏👏👏💪💪💪
What are the chances of having a rim at your disposal
@@rowdyazz7519 9/10 for me, most people with the stuff I like to buy have a scrap pile with something useable.
I doubt it
Will, what's to doubt? its on the trailer and I didn't rig all that for a 30 second clip.
Hi Joe, is this your Cleveland?
ID of pipe??
.500 tubing with a .049 wall ID is .402
Man, I wish you would have shown the part when you put on outer ring. I’m having the hardest time getting that sucker on. I have a big snap ring plier and the pliers for the flat ring like on this cylinder. Any advice would help. Also I’ve tried using flat heads and combination of both tool.
They can fight you for a while sometimes I'll use piston ring pliers to hold it steady and then a big pair of flat faced ones to leverage it open.
Ok thank you for replying and for the advice.
Excellent video you made here young man, the directions are also the same for the 520 life and bucket cylinders & 540 bucket cylinder. None of this using a hose clamp to compress the retainer ring. Pick it out of the groove and then reassemble, put the retainer ring in until it goes in the groove, then pull rod out until retainer ring seats. No need for the little orange chamfered ring to remove the ring. These require you to dig it out of the ring in the cylinder.
Good day. I’ve watched several videos on this type of repair and no one shows how they removed the oil wiper
Glad I could help out.
You didn’t show how you removed it either.

How did you crack the valve loose at 1:31? Mine won't budge.
Spanner wrench in the holes, hex clamped in a vice.
how did you loosen the nut with the wrench size 41mm?
1/2" impact with a 41mm socket.
I am cast iron gas welder can I do this work can you give me one chance

Flathead engine??
No they are an F head With Intake over exhaust, some are even true hemispherical head
Thanks . I’ve got an old cross on a logsplitter that needs some seals. I think I’ll hook up the cylinder to something and use my truck to ease it apart.
That's a good way to do it or use a come along between some trees or something.

I had a late '75 for 15 years and had just rebuilt it. Totally new engine, andrews transmission, new paint, seat, twisted stainless spokes everything and a bitch on s cell phone totaled the bike and me. She got to buy me two bikes with insurance but I miss that shovel. I put three hundred thousand miles thru 4 engine builds on it.
This one is for sale if you need another shovel.
I've got a '98 '95th Anniversary Heritage Springer all original with 26,000 miles if you're interested in a trade I'm open
@@stormking57 Any way to send some pictures?
I can try.@@joe_preston
If you could send me your email or cell number I can.
You said if it doesn’t turn to the left, it’s an internal leak, if it doesn’t turn fast to the right, it’s an external leak. My 4020 doesn’t turn fast to the right how would I diagnose an external leak?
Curtis, Cap the lines under the fuel tank make sure they are full of oil. then Jack it up and try to turn the wheels with a bar etc. They should barely move then stop if they keep doing the steering motor is leaking by.
If possible could you make a video of removing and installing the loader. Doesn't seam to EZEE to me. :)
I Sold that tractor last weekend or I would. 1. undo the latches at back of each side. 2. Put bucket on the ground and back up. 3. when the tabs hit the front mounts you (lift) the bucket cylinders kicking the frame down as seen. 4. Unhook the hoses and drive away.
What’s your welding set up here? Rod, gas, welder etc. Thanks
Solid cast iron and a tig on dc
