FYI, the term 'eskimo' was outdated decades ago, as it is a colonial and derogatory name imposed by non-Indigenous people. 'Inuit' is the preferred term of Indigenous peoples in Alaska, Canada and the Arctic. Inuit peoples rolled their kayaks out of necessity to survive the cold waters while hunting in their 'qayaq', with usage going back over 3000 year B.P.
Aleut, Sami, Yupik, Yakuts, Inupiat, Komis, and Metis are also arctic peoples. Many would also include the Athabascan peoples such as the Dene Ta, as well as North West coast the Tinglit, Haida, and Tsimshian.

80s the golden era, not only for windsurfing, but quite above all for windsurfing. Mark Angulo and Robby Naish, biggest respect. The icons of that era, to me.

I hate it when someone makes this look easy. I took a class and did not get a role until the end. Long class, guy stayed with me for five hours. I was smoked for two days. I got up on the last one with sheer power. I could not get the hip bit. Season ended and I could not get practice in. Covid hit, no pool time to practice, and did not trust just doing it solo. Anywho, before I croak I am going to get this under my belt.

how fast do these go?
I was living in Kailua in 81 when short board thing was going off. We where all thinking how fast we where and then Robby would come out for a sail with no harness on just that perfect stance and just blow by all us. At the time it seem like it would go on for ever. I look back on the 80's some of the best times of my life in Kailua.

the windsurfing today is so much different than when it first came about, when I was totally hooked and sailed daily and bought every magazine out. I got to meet my hero Robby Naish at the World cup in San Francisco in 1986-87 and he was the best and nicest and coolest guy ever.
