Namazie’s presentation on the violence and intimidation she had to endure from Islamic fundamentalists. TEDx argued that mrs. Namazie’s criticism could offend fundamentalist and hence must be edited. At the same time, pro-Islamic fundamentalists may speak freely - absurd? Yes. Bigoted too. I am writing as a western, secular sociologist who was raised in a messed up, catholic fundamentalist household and turned into an atheist the more I learned, studied and questioned. My kind isn’t even off half as bad as ex-Muslims. They need us just like the entire world needs solidarity rather than insane and violent ideologies.

Muslims, residing in western countries, belonging to various sects, in Islam, which some of them not exposed to the real teaching of Islam, present the religion in a vague way through their actions, speech, and dissent, not applicable or accessible to a rational mind that is familiar with critical thinking, intellect, and a keen eye on the facts, verisimilitude, transparency vis-a-vis false allegation, information, bigotry, homophobia, and misguidance under the supervisions of those who fancy to all Ex-Muslims or Atheists, Agnostics, and somehow battered by their personal calamities. I just heard the podcast between Sam Harris and Maryam, It was an actual torture. Sam was trying to show her how much they agree on,and she was insisting on disagreeing with him even though she misunderstood his position. That conversation took place a few years ago,but it was so emblematic on how cancel culture was created before it was called that,and how the left 'eats their own' and will never be able to create conversation or embrace policy to advance its goals. Sí, corren malos tiempos para la lírica, populismos a diestro y siniestro, pero también algunas cosas nos las hemos ganado a pulso, la Europa Oriental jamás debería haber sido admitida tan pronto, como mínimo deberían haber pasado 50 años entre la constitución de las nuevas democracias salidas de los países sátelites de la extinta URSS y la admisión de sus solicitudes para formar parte de la U.E. En cuestiones migratorias hemos sido muy permisivos, ya que no dar una respuesta contundente a la inmigración ilegal la ha fomentado, no quiero decir que una respuesta más dura la hubiese cortado, eso no está en nuestras manos, si no que la habría mitigado algo ya que no es lo mismo traer para Europa a todo subsahariano que te encuentres a tres millas de la costa de Libia, que traer a los que sí están en tus aguas jurisdiccionales y devolver a su punto de origen a los que estén en aguas internacionales, ya que con los costosísimos sistemas de vigilancia que hay en las costas españolas e italianas se sabe perfectamente la deriva y rumbo de cada barco. Pero bueno, reconozco que es muy fácil decir esto desde el teclado del ordenador me mi casa. Pero sigo alucinando con al autoinvitación del tal Puigtinflas, ¡qué morro tiene!

¿Qué ha pasado con el Cercano y Medio Oriente y todo el mundo musulmán? Hace mil años fueron un ejemplo de civilización y tolerancia ante los europeos hundidos en la barbarie. Las obras de la cultura griega llegaron en su mayoría a la actualidad gracias a las traducciones árabes. Mientras en Europa los católicos y protestantes se masacraban mutuamente los musulmanes estaban en paz. Y los judíos europeos, perseguidos tanto por católicos como por los protestantes, tuvieron refugio entre los musulmanes. Los judíos de España, los sefaradíes, cuando fueron expulsados encontraron protección allá. Pero en la actualidad se han invertido los términos: Los del "Estado Islámico" (ISIS) degüellan a los judíos, crucifican a los cristianos y fusilan a los mismos musulmanes chiítas y hasta a los sunnitas que no aceptan el califato que pretenden implantar. Sin embargo no se ve un repudio claro y manifiesto por parte de los musulmanes, ni de los gobernantes, ni de la gente de a pie. Ese repudio pondría en evidencia la continuidad de la civilización y tolerancia que disfrutaron en otros tiempos.
