G'day folks, welcome to my channel.
Feel free to subscribe to follow along as I tackle projects ( usually a random or spontaneous idea that pops into my head! and quite often requiring me having a go at certain things I have no experience with ), the occasional kayak/camping trip where I continue to catch less fish than I'd like. And well, if something different pops into my head, I'll possibly film that as well. Mostly it's about keeping the mind occupied with things I love to do, being outdoors for one, a bit of inspiration, an adventure here and there, and just plain old enjoying life in and around this crazy old world we live in.
Stay well and thanks for watching.
Cheers,
Mark.

Work Car Ute & Canopy Makeover - Should Have Done This Years Ago!
G'day folks,
I finally got around to doing something I've thought about often, converting my work car from a tub ute to a tray ute. In the process I've gained a lot more space and more importantly, easier access for these old bones of mine. I'm very happy with the result.
Stay well folks,
Mark.

Goodbye And Happy Trails Gypsy Wagon

G'day folks. Well as the title and thumbnail suggests, I've sold the Gypsy Wagon. A desire to re-focus 2024 and beyond on my ultimate goal of acquiring my own parcel of land, involved re-couping my costs of the wagon build and re-establishing work and income after a long time away from it. Sad to see it go, but at the same time happy to be moving forward on the goal. As always folks, stay well ...
From Go To Whoa! Time Lapse Gypsy Wagon Build - From Go To Whoa There Horsey!

How it started to how it ended. A time lapse of my Australian, traditionally inspired, Gypsy Wagon build. With a basic, overall, wide vision in my head, I just got to work making it up as I went along, using secondhand and new materials/products and challenging my imagination to bring it all together. Imagination and determination is the key folks. Using those two traits, you can do anything yo...

I hope you enjoy it. I hope you've enjoyed the whole series as much as I've enjoyed creating it...
Watersnake Trolling Motor With PWM On My Kayak

G'day folks. I felt the need for speed...and because I can sometimes be a lazy bugger...I invested in a Watersnake trolling motor for my kayak, along with a Pulse Width Modulator and 50Amp Lithium battery. However, being that my kayak doesn't have a provision for mounting a motor at the rear, which was my preferred placement for it, I had to get a bit creative in making it all work. But I do ha...

G'day folks! It's been a long time between videos...sorry about that. Plenty of hold ups, some lengthy decision making processes and just general rigours of life dictating their terms. I have ticked off a lot of jobs on the wagon though and well, I think I'm close, very close to the end. Thanks for sticking around and as always, stay well. Cheers, Mark.

G'day Folks. Closing out the year with this episode. I concentrate once again on the outside, adding various fixtures and features, again using one-off items in a repurposed manner and seeing if they work. So far I'm happy with the results. Stay well, take care, and I hope everyone has a relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable Xmas holiday period. See you in the new year! Cheers, Mark.

I can promise you though that I don't sing in it :) In this episode I finally get to use some materials I've had stored and waiting for quite some time. There is an end in sight but not yet, not yet. We're getting into what seems to be a thousand and one jobs now, little and big. The detail is only going to increase from this point forward. I finally solve and finish my hidden rain gutters, refashion a vanity/kitchen cabinet and sink, and settle on (I hope) my wood heating choice. Stay well folks! Mark.

Strange,,,,no insulation in the floor or ceiling??? Why not??💤💤🤕🤒💯
It's got Foil board insulation in the floor and ceilings. Not sure how evident that was in this video, but it's prominent in the series videos on my channel. I didn't have much depth with either to play with. I think I used 15mm, possibly 20mm.
👍👍👍
Красота, браво Мастеру!!!

Hi 👋🏼, do you mic up the birds before ye start filming?
@@maireadmaguire7509 I think they mic themselves the second I bring the camera out.
Excellent improvement to usability, draggin stuff in n out, well done 👏🏻

I absolutely love the way you did this video. Thanks for not talking and just showing the work. FANTASTIC creative skills all around,
@porchsinging4874 Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 🙂 You can catch all that pesky talking in the 16 episodes of the build. 😁

absolutley fantastic, i just hope you realise what a nightmare you have made for yourself when it comes time t redecorate !
Thanks for watching. 🙂 Well, unfortunately I've since sold the wagon..needed to recoup costs..so, fortunately, I've transferred that nightmare onto someone else. 🙂
Absolutely stunning 👍🏼✨️
My daughter and I built something like this for a music video. Gypsy Whitemoon by The Long And The Short Of It.
Just watched it. Nice work. She's even swinging in my hammock there at the end. 🙂
that is not a proper wagon nothing like it
Who said it was?
Thanks for sharing how to make all the beautiful details. Makes it easy to copy. Saves me lots of time and headaches.
Go for it! Thanks for watching. 🙂
Wow what a job absolutely brilliant
Thanks for watching. 🙂
absolutely awesome
Thanks for watching! 🙂
I can't help but feel sorry for the horse's. All those 2x4s are heavy. I'm not putting what you accomplished down. In fact its very admirable that you took what was left and made it work. But my Grandfather built a camper out of 2x4s, and it was a very heavy thing to tow.
I had a guy come out and identify the carriage and tray, as an original Melbourne brick cart, a 2 ton carriage with the capacity to carry 4 tons apparently. So it would have always been pulled by a team of horses in it's day. I estimate what I built on top to be possibly between half a ton to a ton. But then I never did get around to getting it to a weighbridge, would've been good to know.
Supercool you make new from old furniture❤😊 and you do it very well🎉
My dream castle~ outstanding work! Just marvelous...

@@maireadmaguire7509 Thanks for watching. 🙂 All the best with the boat!
I have always wanted a gypsy wagon. I watched your video while keeping in mind how I would design one and at every step it was like you were reading my mind! Of course the bed had to be elevated! Of course there had to be a wee wood burner and a table under the bed. Shelving under the table. The door had to be split in 2 but I thought at first you weren't going to do that. Surprised! You did!! And teal is one of my favorite colors. Lion water spouts - I collected lions for years. OMG, this is just so perfect and spot on for my wagon's design. Lucky you. It's perfect and I wish you many happy travels.
@@PurpleSurple I'm glad you enjoyed it! 🙂

@@suzannehaigh4281 Photo montage near the end. Or maybe check out the last couple of episodes of the build on my channel. 🙂
It takes a creative imagination to envision all those parts to be used to make wonderful furniture and "appliances". It takes a master craftsman to build what you needed and to size for your space. And it takes an artist to decorate the finish project. I love how beautiful your Gypsy Caravan turned out. But my only disappointment was when you painted it green. I hate the color, except for beautiful pastures and money, LOL. But it didn't take away how much I love this wagon. Now you need a couple of Gypsey Vanners to pull it. I would love to live is such a beautiful home.
Thanks for watching. 🙂 Choosing colours is always a nightmare process for me. But I was originally trying to match the old wagon picture that was part of my inspiration. Unfortunately I've since sold the wagon. Hopefully the new owners will put their own stamp on it with however they choose to utilise it.
What a shame you did not keep it. Sometimes life takes over and you just have to let things go.
I would have said it was more of a shepherds hut.
I could agree to that summation. Thanks for watching. 🙂
Man !!!! You are a poet !!!!
This is my dream castle~ well done! you are my hero!
I have over 40 years in building those romanyy caravans and to be honest it's OK for armature build that depicts what a horse drawn caravan looks like. Being from romany back ground myself i take up 6months in just the carving of the wood before the build starts. It's a long process up to 3years depending on the customer specifications. I only use hand tools to complete the jobs. Little tip you need to add gold leaf to the under carriage to set it of.
Thanks for watching. Well, it was never to be an attempt at building a traditional one. I had neither the time, money or skill to attempt the real thing, hence my traditionally inspired approach. I've since sold the wagon, and hopefully the new owners will put their own stamp on it. 🙂
In the sixties I worked in an engineering firm down Clarence street in Hull, just behind us was a large area of waste ground. On this wasteground was about twenty Hull Brewery wagons just left to rot as they had got rid of the shire horses that pulled them. If only I had known what they would have been worth but I was only sixteen.
Hindsight huh? If only we could put a value on that alone! Thanks for watching. 🙂
An absolutely wonderful job! All you need now is a horse and a trail!! Incredible wagon!!!
@@PeggyStentzCasey Thank you Peggy, glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

@elephantfeet280 That works for me Richard! 🙂 Unfortunately I have since sold the wagon. I'm sure the new owners have given it their own touch.
Beautiful work, subtle colors. Excellent use of repurposed furniture. Lovely tribute to traditional varda. We can all only dream of making such a charming retreat!❤
@lauralake7430 Thank you Laura, glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
My dream castle~
PS you're my hero!
@sharonmaberry-bourke7013 Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes they wear nail bags 😁
An actual gypsy caravan pulled by a horse has chamfers cut out to make it lighter. Not bits stuck on just for visual. Not plywood, etc... sorry it's a fake, you shouldnc't really use the word 'gypsy'.. it's a glamping pod
@fion1flatout I invite you Fiona to watch my build series for more in-depth description of what I set out to do with my traditionally inspired Gypsy Wagon project. Faked it all the way.
I knew it was Australia as soon as I saw the birds! Beautiful Vardo!

@gcarson19 If you mean me? Uh, no. Unfortunately my favorite Aussie bird is the mascot of the team half my family follows. I sided with the other half in following The Bombers. 🙂
