Not with the vacuum hose itself, no. My screen kept going on and off while the cnc was running but turns out you are better off running the cnc and router on seperate outlets or better, breakers. That sorted my issue. I have upgraded to a spindle and dust separator since running 4” hoses. That takes everything to a whole new level. ☺️

You are welcome! I usually wear gloves when doing this outside just to be sure. Just much easier to video and see without gloves.

Yep it does work on clear acrylic as well. The liquid is clear as water but will still mark it if you spill like I showed. If you bond it this way you will hardly see a join. But try on some scraps first to see what it looks like.

This was all done with Merbau. Also used for garden furniture and decking. Needs a good primer to stop tannin but it can last a long time outdoors.

Yep! I have a CO2 laser that uses Lightburn. I just find that quicker and easier to use compared to VCarve Pro.

Hey John! Thanks very much for your comment. I agree with what you said. If your machine has defects then you will have issues. Best to take care of those first I reckon else it will drive you nuts with inconsistent results. Not sure what CNC you have, but these Onfinity CNC's are built like a tank. Not to say they absolutely faultless or won't ever have issues though. Anyway, I might do another video on this topic soon and I will take on board what you mentioned. Thanksa gain!

That is right. My software is set up to work in mm but if you are using inches it would be the same.

You are welcome! It also took me years plus a flood to finally rearrange things to have more space overall, but I still don't have a lot of accessible wall space. This one was long overdue. I have another project coming up soon to use the space behind the two black shelves/benches which is going to make a huge difference.

Interesting question. Are you referring to a thicknesser/planer or a hand planer? I sometimes use my CNC to get a flat surface on one side of a slab I need to engrave for a customer, but usually after I put it through a planer first to remove the bulk. As for how long that takes, it depends on a number of things like how hard the wood is, what feed rate you are using and so forth. MDF like this spoilboard is soft so you could go a bit faster. From memory, that took about 7min or so to complete, but I cant recall what my settings were exactly. It would make a very expensive planer though if that is the main purpose for getting one. :) But, I know that is not the only thing you would use it for! It's a very good robust machine overall.

@@TwinSummitDesigns thanks for the answers. I'm building my own so the cost won't be that high. A good planer would cost the same, but then I can only plane. I'm ok with it taking a long time planning as I'll gain other functions too.

😁 Luckily not. Water came up to the bottom of it and I remembered just in time to remove the black box that was fixed to the bottom of the bench.

Hey Dave! I believe this font was Helvetica and it's 90mm ( about 3.54" ) tall. I find this font works well because it is easy to read from a distance. Hope that helps.

I did this one a while ago now, but I think it was about $180AUD. I have learned a bit since making this one and will be doing another soon, but it depends on how much detail/customisation the customer wants. Something similar that anyone can buy would probably be less, but in saying that, you could make a couple of “cheaper” clocks to sell for less, or take your time to make something more premium and only sell one or two for the same profit or more. I’m leaning more and more to the more premium side of things these days because it’s less work for the same profit or more at the end of the day. Hope that makes sense?

@@TwinSummitDesignsHi, Thanks for replying. I guess anything with " Custom made " at the beginning will always attract a premium price, as it is unique and personal to whoever is buying it, but production items that can be bought anywhere are in the " everyone can buy one " category.

True! Sometimes it’s getting people to realise they are getting something that is unique or one of a kind sort of thing as well as sticking to charging what your time and effort is worth. Else you end up chasing quantity for next to nothing and you end up hating what you do.

I got those from my local hardware store (Bunnings if you are in Australia) easy enough to cut from a rectangular panel if you have to though.

I actually have seen videos of people building tanks with this, so I would imagine so. It chemically bonds the layers together, not just gluing it.

I know how annoying this can be! This happens quite often when I try to follow something like a Photoshop tutorial and the buttons are not where they are in the video. This is a bit hard to help with without seeing what your file looks like. I would create a new file and repeat the same but just something simple to see if the same issue pops up again. If so, we can narrow it down a bit more..

I was being a little naughty actually because it's easier to film. 🤫 But better safe than sorry, so yes, gloves would be a good idea and use in a well-ventilated area. It has quite a strong smell till it dries, which is really quick.

You definitely should. It's classified category 4 acute toxicity. Please look at the safety data sheet for any solvents or chemicals you're working with

I use LightBurn which is actually meant for my laser, but I find it much easier to do basic designs in. I can then make a screenshot or export them and then import into VCarve which is a big help. But, you can do it directly in VCarve as well. Hope that helps.

Hey Alin! Glad that halped. I started with a chart I made to find the correct speed, but it got complicated not knowing exactly what the router was doing. So, the easiest workaround for me is to just start it at a high speed (4 or 5 even) and then I dial it back once it gets going till I see more chips than fine dust. You will be able to to tell by the sound of it as well if it is too slow. You can pretty much tell it it struggling to keep up. As long as you do shallow passes you will be fine. I do 1mm at a time on this job to keep as much of the spoilboard as possible. With that depth it would be hard to break a bit I reckon. Hope that helps!?
