What’s the all blue pumilio?!
It's a Cristobal variety. This was on Christobal island and there are 2 color variants I seen. One has green legs and the other blue legs. The one with green legs is the one I know from the hobby as pumilio Cristobal. Red not as vibrant, bit more to the orange side and green legs. These two colors are separated by a saltwater stream that runs through the island. The green variant is on a piece of land that is very small, no larger than a football field. There are many many numbers of frogs in that area. The area has been deforested and cattle is now grazing around it. The blue variant was around the lodge I was staying, the owners have taken much effort in restoring the area. There I found the blue jeans color (extreme red with vibrant blue) but also frogs that are completely blue. I have also found this to be the case in islands where I found a escudo like variant, there were also completely blue frogs there in large numbers. You can see some photos at my website: paludariums.nl
Macro lens would come in handy for this one
Agree! Years ago i went looking for tinctorius and had a photo camera with me but light messed up nearly all pics. So this time all i took with me was the telephone.
I recently got one of those macro attachments for my phone, great little tool if your on the go@@rogierdikkes
Really clear video to see how she gathers it thanks for posting!
Just got a message a swarm landed 50meters further, unfortunately I'm not near.
And today i found a huge beard on top of this hive.
Kleine update: Beide moeren zijn nooit goed aangepaard. Te veel regen denk ik. Heb beide dames uit elkaar gehaald deze dag en niets gebeurd. Jammer!
Today just before 3 in the afternoon a swarm from a neighbor passed over the farm where my bees are at, a great spectacle! I couldn't find them anymore, but that window till 4 seems to be the moment they are flying.
Leg was stuck.
That is amazing. I'm a new follower here. I also post videos, please stop by
Later that week I found out that this hive was overtaken bij a swarm of bees that I caught and we're in another part of my garden. They destroyed all the existing queen cells and overtook this hive.
Hello Rogier, nice craftsmanship on your hives! Did you make them? I would love to see a video on your bottom boards. What do your top covers look like?
Hi Dan, Buy them from a company called bijenkasten.nl They build them from red cedar. Their pretty high quality
