The CHAOS Warlord Titan Build starts NOW!

The Chaos Warlord Titan gets started and the adventure begins NOW! In this video we get to work on building the foot and fitting it to the base, all while figuring out how to run the wiring through the base and up into the foot. The journey of this 3d printed model continues!
Why not just solder them? Does the metal have a really low melting point?
Just coming in, anyway to get a hold of the files for it?
god I wanted to 3d print those files. so mad they got deleted... welp. time to try and learn how to 3d model. also, any advice on the 3d printing? should I hollow the prints or keep them as they are?
My top 3 tips for printing it: 1. Hollow everything! I used about 3-4kg to get to this point, including loss and fails. Printing solid will run you 10kg+ easily. It's also kinder to your printer, and makes building easier imo. 2. Drainage holes are probably the most important thing to think of. Orientate your files so that as much resin as possible runs out to a central drainage hole. Other holes are beneficial for easy internal cleaning 3. Expect it to take a few weeks to print if you work full time. Due to the size of some of these parts, you could be looking at 10 - 15 hours to print certain bits, and we all know we can't be bothered to sort out a print after a stressful day. I'll likely do a Q&A vid soon as I've had great questions about it, so keep an eye out for that!
Black as the primary color and gold would be the 2nd and red is blood
I actually didn't consider a black theme... That's an interesting idea. And I call myself a Chaos fan?!
@DireDiceTabletop 1st time seeing your video, the 1st thing that came into my mind was black Legion, but you could do nurgle them on it, but if you think an imperial theme would do great then I would believe it was bad that trun good but that would be hard because the imperial would try to kill it because it was bad. (I did my body is silver, and the top was black and the armor red and the trim of the armor gold, and then any other color would be the lights and stuff but my looks completely different from yours lol. Is yours 3D printed ?)
looks really great - I would have used magnets instead of metal sheet.
I've got multiple armour sets to go on the model, so this way it gives me a large contact area for the magnets on the armour plates to stick to. Saves having to perfectly line them up and having to use different sized magnets 😊
Cool
British warlord titan
I reckon a Union Jack themed Imperial Titan would look awesome 😂
Go go Chaos Warlord!
Grandfather Nurgle shall be pleased!
printing mine for the last week or so. It slow going because I keep modifying the files for magnets and extra details. Im still unsure which head Ill do.
I got wrapped up in trying to edit the files - I'm not skilled enough with Blender 😂 Let me know if there's a way I can follow your progress!
Why not just use another magnet instead on the steel?
This way I don't have to worry about perfectly lining up magnets, or using multiple different sizes for different parts. As this will end up having 3 different armour sets, it makes it easier by not having to worry about being too accurate 😊
Would it be possible to get the Stl file in some way?
Hi again Speed Demon. I sadly won't be sharing these files as GW has taken them down, so don't want to anger them by being seen to share them and potentially mess up the channel. They're still out there though, and there's people who can point you in the right direction
Awesome work. Can't wait to see it finished. I hope you put something over the hole in the missing foot armour. A small greeble to maybe suggest it has broken off. I may just be nit picking too much. This truly is outstanding work on a monumental model.
Good idea! Should easily be doable given the armour can be removed 😊
That is an amazing looking murder bot :) However, whenever I see the head , it reminds me of that Simpsons episode where the dentist shows Lisa pictures of British people's teeth. Not a complaint or criticism, just an observation. Looking forward to seeing it painted mate, it looks incredible :)
🤣 I can't unsee that now. Dental plan!
really nice work but please do everyone and especially yourself the favor of wearing respiratory protection while grinding away at so much resin, the dust is really nasty stuff to breathe in
Thanks Bob! I make sure to mask up and vent the room the best I can, but agree that more could be done! Full Breaking Bad outfit soon perhaps? 😂
@@DireDiceTabletop that would be a cool look :D the only time I can see your head in the video at around 2:00 you dont wear anything so I was worried because of that
Like that this is 3D printed but trying to work out why you faffed about with the little steel plates instead of using magnet to magnet contact points
By covering a large area with a magnetic metal, I don't need to worry about having to perfectly line up magnets. When I come to do the other armour panels, this will make life much easier by not worrying so much where I place the magnets. It also saved me buying multiple different sized magnets and having to figure out different ways to fit them 😊
@@DireDiceTabletopquick question would it be possible to get the Stl file in some way
Great vid and amazing work! Da iawn 🫡 Those “reactors” are void shield generators btw
Nifty
nice
holy crap. so extra. looking great
Ooh this is just the beginning!
Cool
This scale is insane. It looks great
Tell me about it, I still haven't found anywhere for it to go! It's nuts when you stand a Guardsmen between the legs... Hey... I think you've just given me an idea for a short!
Amazing work and impressive details.
Thanks Fismit! Great to have you here
Is this all 3d printed!?! If so amazing second where can i find the files for a none chaos version
All resin printed! Unfortunately these files have been purged from most of the Imperial archives by the Inquisition due to their heresy. Records still exist of what was purged, and they can be found. To avoid angering the Inquisition any further than I already am with this series, I sadly will not be sharing these records. Hope you understand.
How much resin did you use printing this?
Not much compared to what I've seen others use who have done this. I hollowed nearly every part between 1.2mm and 2mm depending on whether they needed more strength (legs) or not as much (armour panels). This is all resin printed, no PLA, so all in all (including loss and failures) it's between 2 - 3kg - about £80 worth! I've got plans for a further 2 sets of armour panels & heads (Imperial and a little secret 😉), as well as about 6 swappable weapons in total. I estimate all of those will use another 2kg of resin when printed hollow.
For future soldering I’ll give you a tip. You heat the wire and then apply the solder directly to the heated wire. That’s how soldering is supposed to be done. If you do it this way your solder will just flow into the wire and make a great bond. It helps prevent cold joints and other solder problems. The only real issue with this method is not having enough hand. You want crocodile clips on octopus type arms to hold 2 wires together while you operate the iron and the solder.
😂 it definitely felt like I needed a third hand! Thanks so much for this advice, it'll definitely come in handy for the weapons!
Great work. All the effort will be worth it in the end. It already looks amazing.
Thanks Paranormal! 👊
I just recently found some of my old lotr battle game figures and magazines. Love that my algorithm brought me here! Keen to follow along the journey. Would also definately be interested in that balins tomb giveaway!
Good algorithm 😂 be great to follow your progress with them too!
Fair play. Your channel has a ridiculous amount of potential. Keep at it. One of your videos will give that algorithm a good seeing to. In the meantime, I’m subscribing and getting a couple of my mates to as well.
Thanks so much for your kind words Elmo!
Love these magazines, always hit with a wave of nostalgia seeing them! I wish I kept all mine but I was only interested in the models back then! I got into MESBG 18 months ago and you’re right, really is fun and worth your time learning! Also would 100% be interested in Balin’s Tomb if you ever sold or did a giveaway, keep it up 🤙🏻
Hindsight is always 20/20! Thanks for your comment, looking forward to sharing more 😊
Neat!
Not as neat as you 👊
Fantastic production value, keep up the work!
Thank you Mr Cat, means a lot! I'm new to this, so learning every day. Hope to see you on the moon someday 😉
That titan is looking great. Can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks mate!
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
That friend who lent you the terrain to paint must be an amazing person 😂
Nah.... 😘
Cool way to paint metals for table tops. I’m still going to ask if I could possibly get the STL for the Warlord Titan. Please
Hey mate, thanks for your comments! Hate to be that guy, but I gotta be that guy for the sake of the channel and be careful what files I share/promote. Unfortunately this one was purged from the purple site by the Inquisition due to it's heresy, so I don't want to be wrapped up in that and jepodise what I'm trying to do here. The STC is out there though, and I've Readit can be found... Hope you stick around to see more of it! 👊
Lol I screwed up the calf pieces. Put then on backwards thinking the gap for the shin was supposed to match 😂
Biostrip20 for like 10 minutes, if there is any left that hasn't dripped off just wash it off with water then for nooks and crannys use toothbrush and a few drops of isopropanol.
Heard good things about Biostrip, I'll have to give it a try!
Does this technique remove primer as well? Excellent tutorial either way!
Yes! Though some primers may take a bit more work to get off than those specifically designed for use on models. The steps are exactly the same, just need to repeat it a few times.
That looks soooo clean!!! Amazing glow effect that really is so simple (I will be borrowing this haha) fantastic basing and theme!! Love it!! Subbed!
Thanks so much! 😊
"Like it's 2003". Oh you sweet summer child.
😂 I totally remember how much of a pain in the arse glueing metal miniatures was, but I discovered the solution of pinning!.. and it's so nostalgic to remember pinning, because you don't really see hobby channels demonstrating pinning except the odd one here and there for attaching the miniature to the base, but pinning was used a lot back in the day with metal miniatures. Try it for your next piece.
I've got vivid memories of pinning a Daemon Prince when I was about 9/10 using the original GW pin vice and brass rods 😂. It didn't cross my mind to do it for this! I'll definitely do a pinning video at some point - Amazon sell multi-pack sizes of carbon fibre rods which are brilliant for it. Thicker ones also make good flying stands!
Looks awesome! That glow is just excellent, it goes nicely with the metals!!! I very much like the basing, I do like a natural-feeling setting!
Thanks! Makes a nice change sometimes from ruined cities or barren lands! 😂
Great video! very awesome painting
Thanks Aatto!
Oh heat is a great idea! I'll see if I can borrow the sonic from work 😂
Heat is the biggest game changer I've found with stripping. Don't take the cleaner home, bring your models to work! Clean on company time 😜
@@DireDiceTabletop the great ideas just keep on coming!
Denatured Alcohol (as it is called here in the USA) is illegal to buy/use in California and soon all our states in in the land of the "free".
I didn't know there was another name for it! Crazy it's illegal for you, what's the reason for that?
@@DireDiceTabletop Quota-filling environmental legislation. People use it as fuel in camping stoves and it lets toxins out into the atmosphere as it evaporates.
Great job! Keep it up
Thanks! You keep up being awesome 👍
