AEW has the tools to be great. The problem is that management is getting in the way. People who are qualified and experienced in wrestling should be running this promotion. AEW is too concerned about what WWE is saying about them. They need to focus on their product and fix the problems they have. Why do most AEW fans have difficulty determining who is a heel or a babyface? That's just the on-screen problems they have. What about the backstage atmosphere? Talent ignores veterans and drives away anyone who disagrees with them. Backstage fights happen and Tony does not want to be a leader and handle the situations head-on. Here is the truth: For as much positive as AEW has done in their five years, they have also done a significant amount of negative. They have sucked the rosters of NJPW, TNA/IMPACT, PWG, ROH (before buying them), and other promotions dry by taking every one of their top stars. Every partnership AEW has been in has been one-sided. In 2020-2021, AEW collaborated with TNA and consistently criticized TNA on their show and network. NJPW has never been this cold or irrelevant. From 2015-2018, wrestling fans could not shut up about NJPW. Who's going to win the G1 Climax? Who's going to show up? Those were the questions that people were asking years ago. Now, NJPW is a shell of its former self because AEW went into PAC-MAN mode with all its top stars. ROH suffered from the same thing because management put all their chips in the PWG guys (The Bucks) and they turned their backs on ROH. After their departure, ROH was left in a difficult situation, and the pandemic made it even worse. By 2021, they were heavily in debt and had to go on "hiatus," meaning they went out of business. Tony has overextended himself by trying to handle both companies since acquiring ROH. This means if AEW were to cease operations, Ring of Honor would also cease operations. Two companies would be dead in one swoop. With ROH, Tony needs to get someone else to run it and make it AEW's feeder system, sell it, or shut it down. People say that AEW is Tony's vanity project. The accuracy of this distinction, some people may argue that it is correct Similar to any hobby or personal project, people will eventually lose interest. Tony is human and he will inevitably grow tired of this. He may choose to sell AEW or decide that he has achieved what he wanted and shut it down. If he shuts it down, two companies will die. AEW needs to start taking things seriously! They've had five years to establish themselves, and now it's time to step up their game. Tony needs to mature and make more responsible decisions. If he doesn't step aside, AEW might end up like TNA, a company that had potential but was hindered by management. By the time TNA addressed their issues, it was already too late. They are lucky if WBD gives them the same deal they got last time. If the ratings get even lower, WBD may just cut them like they cut everything else. Don't wait too late, Tony! Do the right thing while you have the chance.
