Righthanded guitar played upside down, 2 finger pickingstyle, "Who says" by John Mayor
zhlédnutí 733Před 13 lety
Hi.. I`m a righthanded guy who has been playing upside down since I was 10. No one in the family knew what was up and down on a guitar. It just felt natural to me to do it that way. Until recently, I thought that I was a member of a very small group of people doing this, but apparently it`s much more common than I ever thought. And that a nice feeling:-)
Great music 🎶
Pardon me while I pick my jaw up off the floor.
This is a very popular instrument played in South Africa
Milis agus draíochtúil.
what’s the last tune called?
Lucy Campbells reel
Great stuff
Sheer magic.
"Ladies Pantalettes"......crazy all these fabulous names for tunes.
Was told that in the sailing days, the incoming to port ship would raise a sail that would indicate they were to anchor for period. This sail became known as....well you know
He has the strings of his fiddle possibly tuned up a semitone, superb playing!!!
Great music.a huge loss to Irish traditional music. The late Alex Finn R.I.P. 🌎
Love~
Fantastic~ 3 top shelf musicians playing such great tunes.
I so love this set. Sublime playing to my ears. Going to try to learn the tunes, wish me luck....
I've only just realised that's Brendan Begley at the start! He's a great musician in his own right, this video really is full of them.
Tremendous Thanks
a rabbithole led me here #5:53 of heaven ...♥
We should never forget Alec Finn on bouzouki, the one that put the instrument on the map of Irish music, no one will find a better one anywhere..
not bad for a Yorkshireman :)
@Pierre LAÏLY This gives a bit more detail. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_bouzouki Johnny Moynihan popularised use of the bouzouki in Ireland but he introduced the 8 string instrument; Alec Finn was the first to use the traditional six string instrument.
Andy Irvine is not a bad one either in fairness since Sweeneys men back in the 60's in Kilburn
And yet it would sound better without.
bless you alec, you will be missed, h-up
Eddy Poirier New Brunswick Canada... 4 beautiful reels played by the best 4 players there is..
This is exquisite, with a fabulous choice of tunes to boot. Too bad there isn't much of Linnane's playing around save on that classic album with Noel Hill. Does anyone know when this was recorded or what the circumstances were?
There's only one noel hill. He is amazing. Tony and Alec are mighty also. Lovely tunes.well done thank you 😀
Beautiful complimentary sounds from masters of their art👍
I'm left handed and have almost always been playing the guitar right handed. I think I'm going to try to do what you have done.
One of my all time favourite recordings. Priceless.
Listen and learn, all you budding fiddle players :)
Absolutely!
Tony....what a fiddle player...thanks
I was wondering how you learn to play that way? I am a left handed, and I am trying to play a right handed guitar.
I just learned the basic chords and started singing and playing away, mostly by ears. I was listening to a lot of music as well and tried to copy what I heard. But that was long before the Internet was invented and now it ist much easier to get access to things.
