Lovely Granada Ghia, 3 litres, nice colour, as well as obligatory vinyl roof, versus a Renault 16. Hardly a fair contest...

I remember my cousins boyfriend had the same colour and model Granada about 40 years ago,I’m getting old😢

My Grandad had an E reg Renault 16...don't remember him driving like this through the streets of Southampton though!

La Renault 16 : j en ai conduit plusieurs lors de mon service militaire en 1983. Merveilleuse voiture, souple, rapide, spacieuse, confortable, parfaite tenue de route. Seul défaut : toutes les Renault 16 avaient un levier de vitesses au volant. L avantage c est que cela dégageait les sièges avant que l on pouvait utiliser comme une banquette. Bien pratique lorsqu l on emmenait ses petites amies 😂

My dad had a Renault 16. The bench seat in the front was very innovative at the time. There were sometimes six of us in the car. And French cars give such a smooth ride.

The Granda was all over the place. I remember them being a really shite car for road holding.

I had the identical Granada MK1 3.0 Ghia in the early '80s. Great car. The 'fit-and-finish' was far better than this one at around 43 seconds...Or maybe they just forgot to close the bonnet properly...!

I think I would have backed the Renault to get away from Jack and George on that terrain. Less powerful, but better ground clearance!

At least this didn't call for a 10 second sequence of turning off the traction control.

R16 had lovely soft suspension, brilliant

Only time i ever cheered for the baddy. Dad was a renault dealer here in aus. We had a renault 16ts at the time.

The driver of the Renault is by far the better driver, much tidier.

Renault 16tl or tx?

Everyone loves the V8 but a straight 6 is a lovely layout too. I think this is the engine from the TR6 right.

Renault easily out-handled the Granada, even on 3 wheels it could cling on, and the suspension was better over the rough ground - a good move to evade the rozzers.

So it's nothing to do with Jack Regan & George Carter from 'The Sweeney' thumbs down for the bad title description

I love a good car chase… Think of The French Connection with Gene Hackman chasing down a hit man on a train under an elevated underpass and barely missing a mother and child, or Steve McQueen tearing up the streets of San Francisco in his Mustang GT…. And then you’ve got this masterpiece… a Ford Granada labouring through what appears to be the local dogging hotspot after a pensioner in a hairdryer.

As a kid watching these shows (very liberal parents!) I loved NHK 295M and was disappointed they changed to this new Granny. Liked the paint job though, very nice metallic bronze.

That Renault was less than 2 years old, the nick of it 😂
