It can be very difficult to find blueprints for structures and I think a lot of people are curious about this particular aspect of historic house research, so I wanted to go into some depth in my response. It sounds like you have already done this, but my first suggestion would be to reach out the Special Collections department at the Akron Summit County Public Library (ASCPL). They have put together a number of guides to help with conducting local historic research, which can be found here: www.akronlibrary.org/locations/main-library/special-collections/local-history/research-guides. You will see that one of the guides here is House History Research, which has a lot of useful information. I don’t know when your house was built, but if it is a recent structure you may be able to find information regarding plans by contacting the construction company about the floorplans they use. You may be able to find information on the allotment which will be useful by using Parcel Viewer and turning on the Plat Labels layer under Plats. Another way to look for this information, if you live in an allotment or subdivision, is through the Summit County Engineers set of Online Tools for Developers (www.summitengineer.net/pages/Tools-for-Developers.html). You can use the search function in Plats & Plans for Surveyors to look for records of your housing development. These can go back many decades, into the early 1900s (with a few records even earlier than that!). I also reached out the Teresa Corall, Records Manager for Summit County, for more insight into your question. According to Teresa, 'Residential blueprints aka drawings have a short retention period with Building Standards. Building Standards is not required to keep the blueprints/drawings.' She suggests contacting the ASCPL Special Collections Department as well as the Summit County Historical Society. She adds, 'regarding historical deeds, we have the County Recorder’s Office paper records here at the Records Center. However, a person may go downtown to search for the electronic version. Ohio Building - 4th floor - Customer Service - but remember the building is not open to the public yet. The building I am in is not open to the public yet either. The books here start in 1840 when the County was created. The books are interesting. There is a book that I have with drawings of certain historical houses in the County. It is a very old book. I believe the library also has a copy of this book.' I hope this information is helpful to you!"

@@jcoughlin325 I have worked around law enforcement in California most of my adult life. I do not find that to be true. I cannot say for sure about other places, but I imagine they are just normal people like the ones I know. I am sorry you have had bad experiences with them. Have a wonderful day.
