    hellow, i have a question, on my tractor i instaled new tapered bearings for pinion of the diferential. It is a bit hard to rotate just at the start then it moves smothly, and if i stop and change direction it is a bit hard again. i dont have the corect tool to mesure the rotation torque and there is no space in the transmision case either. I mesured it with a torque wrench, set it on 1 Nm and even at the hard start the wrench did not click so i wonder if its right, the correct setting are from 1-1,5 Nm, but les should be fine to i gues. I aded some oil in the bearings, so maybe is because of the oil that the start is a bit hard ? Help =)

      It's possible that the slight binding you're experiencing at the start of rotation in your tractor's differential pinion is due to a few factors: New Bearings: New tapered bearings can feel slightly stiff at first compared to worn bearings. This is because they need to break in and wear to their optimal fit. Oil Viscosity: Adding oil to the bearings can create some initial drag, especially if the oil is thick when cold. As the oil warms up and thins out, the rotation should become smoother. Preload: There's a possibility the preload on the bearings might be slightly high. While 1 Nm is within the specified range (1-1.5 Nm), it could be on the tighter side. Here's how to approach the situation: Run the Tractor: Operate the tractor for a short period under normal load. This allows the bearings to break in and the oil to circulate, potentially reducing the initial stiffness. Monitor for Smoothness: If after some running time, the initial stiffness lessens and the rotation becomes consistently smooth in both directions, you're likely okay. Caution on Excessive Tightness: However, if the initial stiffness persists and increases significantly, especially when changing direction, it might indicate excessive preload. In that case, consult your tractor's service manual or a qualified mechanic for proper preload adjustment. Without the proper torque measurement tool, it's difficult to definitively diagnose the preload. However, if the stiffness lessens with use and doesn't worsen, you can likely continue monitoring. Here are some additional tips: Oil Weight: Ensure you're using the recommended oil weight for your tractor's differential. Using the correct oil viscosity will help minimize drag during operation. Service Manual: Refer to your tractor's service manual for specific instructions on differential bearing preload and oil recommendations. If you're still concerned or the stiffness worsens, consult a qualified mechanic who can assess the differential and adjust the preload if necessary. They will have the proper tools for accurate measurement.

      @@casterconcepts wow, i m surprised how fast u answered my question, really really THANKS. I would do the test run with the tractor as u said, but it is complicated with my limited tools and time( we need to mow the grass for the horses soon =) ). I think i solved it and for the 70 hours per year as i use the tractor should be good. I marked the nut location, and unscrewed it for like a mark width(2mm), it is much easier on the rotation start now. I also asked a mechanic and he said that less preload is better than to much, because the tractor will be mainly used in summer when there is about 42°C outside, and the tractor is a small one, so the transmission oil gets hot i guess(maybe around 100°C i m not sure). So will the bearings also expand a bit or not much ? Anyway really thanks again, never got an answer so quickly and also correct and interesting !!

    Curious as a safety officer. Was there any study conducted on these guards on their effectiveness? Will the guards obstruct movement of carts into trailers when the floor is a bit uneven?

    • @casterconcepts
      @casterconcepts Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks, for reaching out. We have not conducted a statistically significant study on Toe Guard effectiveness. Caster Concept toe guards are intended to prevent a cart’s wheel from rolling over a toe or foot. They are also designed to be and are most effective when safety shoes are worn by employees. Caster Concepts toe guards come at a standard of ½” floor clearance. This height accommodates most irregularities in flooring surfaces. Please contact us at Caster Concept. We can provide toe guards tailored to meet your specific requirements.

    How do you pad the inside of the cart? We are running into some serious rattling on an industrial stock cart and I am looking for solutions

    • @casterconcepts
      @casterconcepts Před rokem

      Hi Ryan, Most of the time when there is noise brought on by cart movement, it is exacerbated by the load. Padding the inside of your cart will allow the load to sit on something much softer than the metal/alloy frame that carts are usually made of. Keep in mind that if your load has sharp corners or anything along those lines, the padding will degrade over time. Depending on your cart design, there may be ways to pad certain areas of the cart to reduce noise. There may also be other caster issues going on (like flutter -czcams.com/video/-B5hYBhBMCk/video.html ) that could be causing the excessive rattle. Please give us a call 517 781-8630 to discuss in more detail.
