Spin Cycle - 100 Launderings with Lint
Uniform rental companies tell you not to launder your AR / FR apparel at home because it’ll mix with your flammable clothes, which will get flammable lint on your AR / FR clothes and cause them to fail. To test their theory, we laundered an AR / FR garment 100 times, covered it with five lint traps’ worth of lint, and exposed it to an arc flash.

Spin Cycle - 100 Launderings of FR Clothing
zhlédnutí 16Před měsícem
Wearing AR / FR clothes on the job every day means frequent wash cycles. One of the most common myths told by the uniform rental industry is that after enough washes, the arc protection and flame resistance simply washes out of the garment. Join Scott to see if this myth is busted.
Spin Cycle - Fabric Softener
zhlédnutí 11Před měsícem
Fabric softener is a little different than the previous two tests - in fact, it’s the exact opposite. Fabric softeners, which are flammable, coat the fabric with a thin layer of waxy film. Wouldn’t having that waxy, flammable layer on your AR / FR clothes spell trouble - especially after 50 launderings with fabric softener? It seems reasonable on paper, but how about in the lab?

Spin Cycle - Liquid Chlorine Bleach
zhlédnutí 11Před měsícem
All labels in AR / FR clothing say that using liquid chlorine bleach is prohibited. But what happens if you accidentally wash your AR / FR clothing using bleach? Uniform rental companies say any exposure to liquid chlorine bleach removes the garment’s arc protection and flame resistance. In this episode, we put that claim to the test - with a garment that’s had not just one wash, or ten, but 50...

Spin Cycle Introduction
zhlédnutí 9Před měsícem
The truth is, all AR / FR apparel Tyndale sells is, and always has been, safe to launder at home. But uniform rental companies often say that your AR / FR clothes’ protective properties and flame resistance can be hindered by using bleach or fabric softener, an accumulation of non-FR lint on the garment, or long-term wear. Below, our host Scott Margolin, Vice President of Technical, gives a qui...

You find similar injuries in nuclear bombs from flash injury. The massive release of energy and fireball releases a flash that sets you on fire and burns you. It’s no different here.
Great information! Thanks!
the quality of your videos just keeps getting better and better
Actual footage of my stepdad hitting me 👆🏻
Jason, thank you for coming to Rhode Island and sharing your ordeal with all of us at that safety conference. I have let many of my friends and coworkers know of your story. You have really opened my eyes.

Poor guy his boss is a joke. Proper ppe would have made all the difference. Stop being cheap people!!
thanks
he was really injured bad
Honest question, I don’t know. Why are there 100% cotton FR shirts rated 1-4? Isthat false advertisement? I see all the big companies have it and I’ve bought them thinking it’s FR.
Which fabric is more protective when exposed to energy above the arc rating?
So, to be clear, you do not get an arc rating from this test? Is there a cal/cm² rating minimum or this doesn't apply?

I'm currently working for a company that refuses to get fr clothing for the electrical work I'm doing, including rerouting services, service upgrades and general work in live panels and service meters. All single phase stuff, but still plenty dangerous. I'm looking at getting a heavy duty fr Tyndale sweatshirt for myself for peace of mind because my gloves and welding sleeves, as I was suggested to use, won't cut it. Thank you for sharing your story. A company like mine preaches safety until it comes down to cost or productivity.
It's truly sad, even maddening, to see companies putting profits ahead of their own workforce's safety.... Or even companies putting their profits ahead of their customers safety... It's all about the money. I hope you're being safe out there Eric 🙏
I was at a place similar, they bought "voltage" gloves off of Amazon from China. In my experience you're better off jumping ship to a company that buys all your PPE (including your daily wear 8cal base layer),hot sticks, etc and expects you to use it
You are a hero!!!
An electrician job is very dangerous. Master electricians need to keep their journey man and apprentice workers steadfast on the rules. It shouldn't be a first class blue color job. It's a job for every men and women who want a good career.
Absolutely!

good underatable video content..thank you
I was just trying to figure out how to measure my waist for some new jeans, not shop at some retail store.
First! What a bright spark I am...
This is an excellent series: entertaining, well informed, & concise. Kudos and raises for the team that created it :)
I'm an instructor at a JATC and I plan on showing these videos to my classes. These are great. Looking forward to next season! Thank you
great explanation
Fascinating!! Nice explanation and presentation 👍👍
Great
Just got mine in the mail. Very disappointed. Three season jacket, maybe if you live in Florida or California. It's lighter weight than most of my long sleeved t-shirts. False advertising here by Tyndale. I want my $150 back
Made by illegals
Update: I sent it back and did get a refund. I've never had a single problem with Tyndale customer service.
nice 👍
Who's here after Grosjeans crash?
Is it possible an electric arc no more hot than 30 degree Celsius?
yes. the electrodes would be very close together and a lower voltage used, albeit probably invisible arcs.
That's a ludicrously high energy ark it would be at least 30000-volt arc gap alone at 8ka that's 240 million VA arc even then the jeans were easily extinguished
Nice
This is genius. A clear concise explanation of FR. I really appreciate your videos and expect you will get a lot of hits in the coming months.
Awesome video. When's your Next video? I would love to Be friends :D

just discovered your jeans. I'm estatic to know that they're made in the U.S.A.!! the video said measure slightly below the waist, I like the waistline of my jeans to be above my hip bone, may you guide me in the right direction? thankyou.
