I worked at Goodwill for two years in the warehouse section. This video is very accurate and more! Not only were we paid half the minimum wage (and a little more if we were fast enough), but it was a transfer program and they had no intention of transferring us unless we asked about it. Even if we were transferred, we were basically loaned out to other companies and still receiving the same wage. Once they transferred me (after I finally pushed for it), I broke off with Goodwill, but was still not treated like a typical employee: I had a job coach watch my every move the entire year I worked at TJ Maxx, and one of the managers consistently refused to give me more than 4 hours a week.

I’m legally blind and make sure employers don’t know until I get the job and we sign off on wages that I’m actually blind so this doesn’t happen. Thank you NFB for all you do

The disabled get money from the government and if goodwill pays them they will just take the money out of their government checks. What they do is volunteer work and goodwill gives them a check to make them feel better. If they where really exploiting the disabled don't you think parents would be protesting? They are not because goodwill is not doing anything wrong.

Take minimum wage away from sighted people and people with no disabilities, and we will compete on terms of quality. We have fewer absenteeism from sick days or apathy than you do. We in the disabled community have more to prove and more to lose so we stay on the job! No minimum wage for anybody!

The more I think about it, the thing can be re-created with a raspberry pi 4, if this thing costs anything, it should only cost the product cost, this blindy software company should have Opensourced the speech around this, because I guarantee you it’s just a Linux computer. Never take advantage of blind people like that, that's just sad. What about the geeks? What about the smart blind people, where's the source?

that thing uses espeak, so i'm hoping it's not a lot. Because they're not allowed to make money off of espeak, espeak is free and open source technology. I wonder, how'd they make the UI? Why not open source it for the world? Espeak can be used everywhere, i laugh if they don't know that!
