Welcome to my CZcams channel!
I am a French photographer, based in Utsjoki, Finnish Lapland. I have been taking photos for more 15 years, when as a hobby I wanted to bring back home some souvenirs of the bands I like. This hobby grew to a passion and a regular activity.
Now, I photograph nature's wonders with a primary focus on the polar region. Come discover with me the beauty of polar wildlife and landscapes, and of course the queen of the night, the Northern Lights.

The Sliding Polar Bear - Watch Until The End!
Make sure to watch until the end! We spotted this bear from quite a distance, and let it be for a while as it decided to swim across a fjord (it is not allowed to approach or follow a bear that's in the water!). Once the bear was back on land it proceeded to walk along the shore, sniffing its surroundings for food.
The best way to dry its fur is to roll in the snow, so it proceeded to climb up the slope and slide all the way down!
Why do I say "it"? Because from there, it is really hard to see if this is a male or a female! In general it is really hard to see with polar bear unless:
- it's a really really big male
- it's a female with cubs

Some of the very last Auroras for this 2022-2023 season up here in Utjsoki. A week later, the sky will be too bright to see any northern lights, so this was one of the very last chances. Here in Utsjoki at 70°N of latitude, the sun does not rise between late November and late January. We do not get pitch dark night unlike @CeciliaBlomdahl in Svalbard, but night falls around 3 PM until 9 AM! The solar wind data promised some excellent northern lights and it delivered indeed! Any chance for viewing auroras in first week of November in Utsjoki ?
Does the aurora are visible in first week of November in the skies of Utsjoki?
Is it early? I thought about 20 October was a typical time for winter (white and subfreezing conditions around the clock) to arrive in Utsjoki, isn't it?
