Hey Odin! First I wanna say congratulations on the new position at ironmace! Sobad kinda leaked it, but let’s just say I hope you have a big impact on dark and darker. I’ve been watching hold the line for a while, and your takes (like guild housing, player housing, an expanded gathering hall) have been the ones I enjoy/agree with the most! One thing I disagree with, Multiclass is very very very bad. Even with allowing easier access to it, it is singularly the hardest thing to balance and adjust. So many interactions are just broken, let alone balanced. And this wouldn’t be such a huge problem, if balancing it would just make it a worthless addition to the game. Adding one or 2 perks won’t really impact the game for many people, I get it pve builds are cool. But the only people who care about pve builds and people running HR trios. I don’t want to speculate but I don’t even want to know how many players are actually player HR trios. I would be shocked it it was more than 10% I could go on and on how potentially catastrophic a system like multiclassing could be for the game and a fear it has few potential upsides. Please play solos more, you’ll see how much work this system is gonna take to make work well.

Thank you for making this video. Unfortunately I believe the language barrier between the devs and the community is so large that much feedback gets lost.

10:03 This is exactly it, so many of us want to armchair on reddit and discord about what the game needs and what Ironmace's goals are but the truth is that as a community we know way way too little information to be making those kinds of statements Often I'm seeing people make arguments against the game that would be absolved if they watched the interviews, but those interviews are on a random (from their perspective) youtube channel and not linked prominently in the discord or even on the game. Even what info we have is obfuscated, there is some old playtest data they released on the discord that is just lost to time. I can not find it I mean heck, sometimes there have been game-breaking bugs which require a roll back but the only way to learn about that is through the discord when the game totally has a "message from the devs" when you log on There is a lot of talk about how toxic the subreddit is even for a gaming forum, and I have noticed that myself since playtest 3, so I'm starting to realize that it really could be from how difficult the communication has been. Most indie games that pop off in the west /are/ made by western developers so any old gamer can simply ping a dev on twitter and say "Yo, this thing is weird in the game, why is that" in a way that can't really be done with an eastern developer Anyway, I think this video makes really great points that people on both sides of the Dark and Darker isle should see and I hope Ironmace see's it too

This is the kinda shit they need to consider for dark and darker. A lobby thats PURE coop, maybe make the mobs tougher and have a slight loot quantity bonus to adjust for the amount of people in the group but a mode designed for an all or nothing raid. No escape portals, just get to the final floor alive with the final boss dead and a portal spawns for each alive player. It'd be so sick.

The idea was originally to make this lead into a montage of my fighter but I decided to keep it separate. During the first playtests when goblin caves were announced, I had done a short 1 minute ish thing similar to this for sobadstrange, because he was doing a vid on it, so I was going to dig that up to work on for another full vid. (Since someone on Reddit asked) The explanation for adventurers killing eachother was mainly just history repeating itself - each time the three evils returned it was preceded by madness and discord in the realms of mortals, leading to them betraying and killing eachother. So just before the events of DaD they had sealed them away again in The Crypts below The Ruins (of castle Vengoth), but there was a seafaring town below the cliffs of the ruins where a lot of adventurers tended to wind up after their other expeditions, and the whispers of madness started leading them to explore the ruins and crypts, promising power and wealth. Our characters are uncorrupted, and we're there to find the evils at their heart to end it once and for all, but we have cause to distrust others we meet down there, because they've likely been corrupted and will kill us the first chance they get.
