Mayor Muriel E. Bowser & chief of police Pamela Smith has cleaned up Washington DC. They’re downtown DC looks like our Center City. But you can go anywhere in Washington DC and the streets are clean ,new housing. No abandoned buildings and people are put back to work. Restaurants opening and big box retail and poverty restricted neighborhoods. The mayor even bought Wegmans to the city, Walmart, target, Panera, bread and Starbucks urban strict neighborhoods. Have places that look similar to Central city. We need that and Philadelphia. Whoever the next mayor of Philadelphia needs to put us on the map, clean up the streets tear down the abandoned buildings get the trash off the streets and block by block there’s no reason for Washington DC to have a good mayor and police chief, making sure all citizens are safe but make sure you don’t have to travel out your neighborhood for a decent meal or to shop because you are not in the elite neighborhood. The elite is through the entire city of DC and that is how Philadelphia needs to be. We need to bring back community watchmen, and we need to have better communication with police officers throughout the district to ensure they know who lives in the neighborhood and who is passing through costing ruckus in chaos. I salute both candidates, and I hope and pray the right person is chosen and let’s get Philadelphia on the map for the right reasons more than the crime spree and the universities making headline for robberie..
The local levels, leaders in health, education, labor, and housing agencies should partner with justice agencies to ensure that people and communities that experience high rates of justice involvement are assisted with intensive and research-backed strategies to meet their needs.

This lady really said the national guard with AK47s. 🤦🏾♂️
Word salad from Parker. Sane, thoughtful responses from Oh.
Promo SM 😩
At 18mins she avoided that answer hard! And the national guard doesn’t have AK 47’s. David Oh for mayor!
David Oh for mayor!
She said she grew up across the street from the Gallery🤔. I didnt know there were houses or apartments next to the Gallery
She grew up in West Oak Lane, Logan. Oh grew up and still lives in Kingsessing.
This is the same person who thinks the national guard has AK 47’s she’s clueless on everything except how to push papers for contributors
@@davidrosa3182 I voted by mail. I voted for Oh.
Cherelle looks like she’s unsure if she should fire the man or the daughter
David oh has my vote his answer on stop and frisk or Terry stop won me over.as a blk man in from northphilly I hope my people don't vote for Ms Parker because the color of her skin and they listen to these debates
chuuuuch!! 🙌🏾💪🏾
Philly is a cesspool. Not salvagable.Democrats have destroyed it.
After listening to both of the candidates, I feel Cherelle is just saying words and has no real leadership ability. If we have another mayor who just "Delegates" to others, it will be the same as Kenney was. My vote is going to David Oh.
I respect all opinions, but I'm wondering how you conclude from this debate that she has "no real leadership ability?"
She keeps repeating come together, not taking charge. In a crime ridden city, we need a Mayor to stand in front and be there. Cherelle is not that person.@@fmtalks1386
David Oh Shines here. Has a real plan and has real experience.
Parkers sounds like a reasonable dem but when I hear her talk about clean energy I wonder if she supports what biden is doing to our energy independence
Why is the lighting so bad? There more light on the logo than the candidates.
its because they using Union Workers instead of industry professionals...
“Such as ATVs and Dirtbikes, that’s not “low level’ [crime]” -David oh Ummmm….what? Lol that IS extremely low level.
Cherell Parker is delusional about the arena! David Oh is spot on about Chinatown! It will be the end of Chinatown!
Where did my no experience cherelle comment go? Sad!
Cherelle is pretty amazing and she will do great things for this city. The bat sht crazy fascist bigoted republican party need not apply, thanks.
One thing I agree with David Oh on is the Sixers arena. They have an existing arena, but the lease has expired. Having said that Market East is not a good location. Some people say other teams have their arenas near downtown. I rode by the old Greyhound terminal where it's closed now, and the site to me is just a poor location. The gallery and a movie theater are right across the street. The next block is where Parking Authority is. They could move elsewhere and that land could be used for parking, but I think the traffic study will 86 that plan. The Sixers are adamant about that location, but I think it will choke Chinatown, which is already heavily impacted by traffic. We want people to come here, but I worked in the Traffic Unit in the PD, and I can tell you it would be a complete nightmare trying to get the stadium traffic in with all the pedestrian traffic as well. It is not a good idea, but the team I understand wants to control the revenue with their own stadium, versus leasing, but at what cost to the community???
I agree. His position on the arena has moved me away from Parker and will now vote for him. That stadium does not belong there! It was never in any of the city's plan for development!`
I voted by mail for Oh.
The Sixers haven't been champions in 40 years. They don't deserve a new arena.
I agree. I hate this idea. Hope it never happens.
Cherelle Parker has some good ideas. One thing I keep questioning is, how will she convince at least 300 People to join the Police force?? Why? Because that is one of the things she keeps saying, that she wants to hire 300 Officers, even though that isn't enough. We really need about 1,000 more Officers. Back in the late 80's a Police Officer convinced me to join the department, and it was a good move. But now with the current climate, it's doubtful that I would join today. And I want her to address the condition of our city streets. They are deplorable. She would need to hire a Streets Commissioner who will address this as well. There are many ills in this city not just crime, not just poverty, not just drug abuse/open air drug markets. We also have blight that directly fuels crime! David Oh, sounds flat to me, and he has some good ideas, so its up to the voters now!
Yep the PPD has said repeatedly that they need at least 1000 new officers.
David's answers make the most sense and he's straight to the point. Cherelle is answering about everything and at the same time about nothing. Also, I don't think it's important if a mayor is Republican or Democrat, he/she is just an executor and must be able to run the show in the best manner. Thanks to all organizers for the debate. It was very helpful.
i think it's extremely important the mayor is NOT a republican, as they are a fascist, bigoted organization trying to strip minorities of their rights. philadelphia would be the party's biggest city and they do not deserve this city.
Agree, David seems much more fluid in his approach and will address issues head on.
Philadelphia needs a Republican Mayor.
nah, it absolutely doesn't need a mayor from the party that is fascist and bigoted. philly is a progressive city.
I agree. The Democratic voters of this city are the most uninformed voters I've ever came across. They're smart intelligent (a lot of them) but when it comes to things like AVI tax, they have no idea. But when it comes to "what should be done" they're talking heads. That's when the person I'm having the conversation with they start repeating what they've been told. (And Parker is going to win, the unions run the elections they're also the muscle to their party. They are going to get her in.)
Yeah we gotta switch up for real give him a chance.
Whatever. A fascist Trumpist is absolutely NOT what we need.

Jason Kelce up the challenge -
Brown? Couldn’t you have at least painted the cell doors blue, given the Unit some color? Soothing colors have been shown to have an impact on inmate behavior.
Brown is neutral. Blue is unnatural.
This is crazy america has the equivalent of 50% of the world’s black inmates incarcerated. This is deeply rooted in the systemic building of this country. All of this wicked evil. But who is gonna pay for such pure hate???
That ain't gonna work

I am so proud, like beyond amazed at the quality of this forum, the questions, the candidates responsible answers, I liked cheryll Parker , I just was worried about her policies on the war on drugs, as I wrote this she showed up, I know it wasn’t late by intent, first answer was great too, im glad to see her show up I was worried she wasn’t showing up, just curious, why is almost all of Philadelphias water front so off limits to economic growth, btw, I got mesothelioma at age 23 from construction on a Philadelphia high schools renovation
Lady who asked question at 6 minutes, thank you for a actual question, Jeff brown, what would u recommend to people who can’t get the medications they need to live safely just as vital as food? Seriously, cause the war on drugs and over government intrusion in to our homes and lives is making us crazy
Please stop the war on your own people, whoever does that gets my support and prayer, any new ideas about poverty, mass incarceration and the same militarization of police and war on drugs , aka the war on people u want. Helen is my mayor as of now , 2 nd place goes to Jeff brown,
Only 4 comments? This was informative, I hope Philly is paying attention.
Jeff Brown gets my vote.
I love you sis keep up all the hard work you doing
