You were my favourite teacher Pat. I'll miss your classes! - student of 2024
How do you deal with phones, and ear pods ???
Cooked.
Martin is a gifted teacher.
Why notes? Why not use the textbook?
"Promo SM" 😒
Asking eight of these questions to be done in 150 minutes was extremely unfair. What is the point of putting students under this unnecessary time pressure? A three hour exam would have been more suitable in my view.
Any tips for self studying applied maths? Does it matter in which order I study the different topics?
There's a project associated with it so you should probably look into how you'll have someone approve of it. But the book is great at explaining everything
I'd say starting with differential and difference equations is best if you're caught up on calculus and sequences and series. The mechanics would then be quite substantial. Networks and graphs and algorithms aren't technically challenging but they are quite different and somewhat boring
thanks for the analysis, I definitely agree regarding time-Dijkstra took a while for me.

I was really hoping for tabular statement to appear in section B but oh well. Good paper though in fairness
If only tabular came up instead of service
@@ivanesc1598 I know right I would have had that in the bag. They really like putting it in section A for some reason 🙄
Yeah like I practiced so many past tabular statements because I was almost certain it was gonna come up in section b
pat i love you

Am I the only one who found most of the calculations difficult?
Think thats only you tbh. Everyone in my school said tthe calculations were piss easy. Don't meant to be rude but thats not a good sign
did it without a calculator
@@benholman9381 No forget about everyone else, when you did the calculations on question 1, did you find it an easy walk in the park?

Fair paper yes! ( I bottled it so hard oh my god probs h4 )

i had a problem with q15, in that you cannot use the binary search algorithm they've provided on a list with strings. the question was very misleading.
my son is there haning off the ceiling because of this paper. hope norma foley has a warm pillow when she goes to bed
"those who relied on learning previous exam questions off by heart". What does that even mean? It's leaving cert higher level maths, any teacher will tell you the best way to prepare is doing past exam papers. I've done every single maths paper for the last 10 years and never have I come across one like yesterday's. After all of that work I don't appreciate it being made out to be taking the easy way out by just "learning off". If you have put time and effort into past exam questions you should be rewarded with a fair paper that you can recognise how to tackle.
If you take an A level mathematics paper you study the course do plenty of past papers and you get the grade you deserve. in Ireland you take an honours maths paper and it can be full of awkward time consuming questions designed to confuse ,confound and waste time. We seem to have nothing else to do than to set cryptic mathematics papers. After all there are 6 other subjects to study for anyone bright enough to take the Honours maths course. At A level there are two other subjects. I suppose its all part of the great Irish points race to secure a place in an over priced city university where you try and acquire a masters degree ( an honours degree probably wont be any good) so you can work for free for a year . God forbid you might want to teach that will take two more years so can get 10 hours a week 100 miles from where you live . And people wonder why graduates emigrate to Saudi Arabia ???
The geo paper was really nice, physical geo questions were really enjoyable.
The geo paper was really nice, physical geo questions were really enjoyable.
i can't believe they gave us a paper like that, hoping the bell curve gets me a pass at this point
My daughter is traumatised by the paper and came back in tears! It's too difficult :(
She should have been studying instead of using tiktok (most likely the case)
@@NavyaRoy-nd8fk Bitch, we were studying! We were told day in day out that we need to do exam papers to study for maths, only to get into the exam to basicly be told that it was all a waste. Some of my friends have done exam papers back to the 90s and have said that they struggled with the paper, are you gonna say that they also didnt study?
@@NavyaRoy-nd8fkSuch a ridiculous comment
I feel so sorry for my daughter who worked soooo hard and she ended up by having this horrible exam. It's not fair to have such paper for students who even did not do their junior cert.
I agree.
For the JC reason I largely agree that it was poor timing to change the focus of the exam
Giving this paper to a class after covid, where most students in the year haven't even done the JC is the most horrible decision ever.
The leaving cert is meant to be a challenge. You cant just dumb it down because of”covid”. Oh and btw the current lcs were affected by covid in TY so thats not relevant.
@@footballrepublix mate that paper was walking cancer 😂😂😂, majority of my year in a grinds school think they failed
@@footballrepublix Most LCs were affected by covid at the time of the JC as well. Both the 2019 and 2020 classes did not sit the JC. And don't say it's "irrelevant", they know this and that's why adjustments were given to this year's leaving certs, and it's also why last year's paper was a lot more managable.
@@morinohisagi2138 Current lcs weren’t affected for all 3 jc years except the exam itself. When they were in 5th and 6th schools reopened. The fact they still got significant adjustments and you still give out astonishes me. Previous lcs years had it much harder. What are you actually looking for? Do we just scrap the lc and give everyone 625 points bc they missed 2 months of school in Jc???
@@footballrepublix have u not seen 2022 .2021 2020 2019 and 2018 they were all piss comparing to this exam
I felt like none of the study I did came in handy. Absolutely horrible exam paper, mainly because it was so different to every other past exams
All that study that I did, could've went towards another subject, but that time is gone now.
My daughter said this paper was diabolical /horrendous waste of 2 years studying said majority of the class came out upset.
Time for students to think outside the box and forget about the great college rat race.
@@horsemanoftheapocalapse5837What?
Maybe students should look at options like internships while studying online .After all everyone has a degree these days and a degree is no longer any good you need a masters degree and still no guarantee of a well paid job because you are told you have no experience . So we have people who have spent 100k and cant get the job they deserve . The trades are a viable option you earn money while you learn a skill and you have a better chance of staying employed.
The only poets i studied were bishop, Dickinson and Yeats, what a nightmare
😂😂 Go wan
Everyone is saying this years paper 1 was “weird” etc. interesting.
I mean what exactly are we supposed to do when most of the questions are abstract, writing a written word response, being unnecessarily convoluted, adding in unneeded variables, borrowing from applied maths, integrating in 3D, transforming complex numbers in a way that hasn't been asked before, and being a somewhat unclear sequences and series question?
LITTLE CHAR FROM THE CZcams
which one borrowed from applied maths?
Unneeded variables 😂

Its litreally the opposite
Nah most are easier
its only maths that ive noticed its harder, i flew through the rest
@@footballrepublixListen, it's clear from your numerous responses you're either in alot of ordinary classes, especially clear by your misspelling of the word 'literally', or you did not sit the leaving cert this year
